Introducing the House Committee!

We asked the student council some few questions (some of them were busy so they answered some of them)…

1) What are your ideas for improving the school? 3) What do you think is the purpose of the Student Council? How will you achieve it?

2) What’s the best thing about being part 4)What advice would you give to the students who are interested of the student council? in trying out for student council next year?

Meeting the Student Council

1)“Like I said in the voting speech, I will listen to the students, speak alongside the students, and support their ideas. You want a change to happen, and you want help? Come to me. I will be your microphone.”

2) “Being in this organized group of my fellow students, cooperating with them to make our school a better place - the whole thing is joyous.”

3) “The student council exists to respect and gather opinions/suggestions from the biggest community in CI, the students. Our purpose is to represent them and contribute to the school.”

4) “Different individuals have different ways of presenting themselves to people, and it is important to have your own way of getting used to the StuCo community and develop from it. Though I will say, you will have absolutely nothing to worry about. If you truly wanted to help out the students when you join the student council, you will have no problem.”

Vice-President & Mr. Wyss-Lockner

Advisory Rep.

President, Leadership Committee Lead, Ms. Van Lankvelt Advisory

1) “I will listen to student opinions and

discuss it with student council members

or the principal. I will organize events

that students can enjoy and help the

school president as hard as I can.”

2) “The best thing is that I have an

opportunity to organize events and improve

it. I can interpret my ideas and opinions

into the events. Also, I get to host

assembly in front of the every middle

school students which is really cool.”

Page 6: MS Bell Tower Magazine 2015

1) “I want to run a school that everyone can enjoy. To achieve it, the teamwork with

student council members will be very crucial.”

2) “My favorite part of being a student council is that we can plan events for the school.”

1) “One of my main ideas of improving our school is to actually make the

changes for the students. I have watched student council for the past two

years, and I felt like that they were not really taking the student's opinions

and ideas into account when making decisions for the school. Part of why I

joined student council was because I wanted to actually try and change

something that would benefit the student body. I think this goal can be

achieved simply by talking to students around the middle school, or by

sending out surveys to gather different suggestions.”

2) “The best part of being in Student Council would probably be the fact

that we can actually influence our school, and have control over certain

events. It's really cool to see that students can organize different

assemblies, house games, and parties that will happen later on this year.”

3) “I think the main purpose of Student Council is giving a voice to the

students. By electing representatives that will be speak for the student

body, students are able to make many decisions and bring about change to

improve our school.”

4) “I would definitely encourage everyone who would like to try out for

Student Council next year, wether your in six or seventh grade, because

it's an amazing opportunity to actually get to know your school. If your

creative, responsible, and hard-working, Student Council would definitely

be an activity that you should try out. No matter which position or

committee your in, the members of Student Council all work together

towards the same goal of improving our school, so don't be afraid to join!”

Secretary, Water House , Mr. Sherd

Advisory Rep.

Treasurer & Finance Committee Lead

Page 7: MS Bell Tower Magazine 2015

1. “I would like to make a school were

it is ideal for everybody. I would like

to survey everybody’s ideas and find

a good solution for everybody, so we

could have a fun school life.” 2. “I like thinking of house games for the school to play, even though it is a lot of organization and hard work. I

also like the occasional snack parties.”

Student Body

Community Officer, Community & Service

Committee Lead

House Committee Lead & Air House

Captain

1) “Have an optimistic mind. One thing I noticed in

students was that some didn’t have ‘hope’ or ‘positive’

opinions about the school/curriculum/etc. It is important

to stay open minded and try your best in school activities.

By doing this, it makes your school life much more easier

and fun.”

2) “The best part of being in student council is changing

the school. By being a member of StuCo, I get a chance

to directly interfere/affect the school community.”

3) “The main purpose of Student Council is being the

voice/opinion of students. We represent the whole middle

school.”

4) “If you want to be a part of student council, you need

to keep a good relationship with your friends. The key to

group work is cooperation. It is almost impossible to be a

student leader without maintaining your social life.”

EMILY CHOI DREAM CHASER

A flora cannot exist without the illuminating sunlight that aids them in their growth. A condor cannot take its grand flight

with the temperature required to cause an updraft. And perhaps we cannot spiritually go on with somebody we look up to or

perhaps an inspiration from our peers. Her name is Emily Choi, a unique ninth grader who makes us acknowledge the fact that

there’s something we have to be aware of and “see” in our life. According to her, her inspiration is to surpass others, in

other words, become the superior of all. She shows us that sometimes our passion may have much more potential to influence

us, from her scribbled work that yells her emotions. From the artwork displayed above, some would believe that her artwork

may not contain much value and merely are personal artwork by a typical student, however we can see how she denies the

pressure many Korean students receive to become perfect and express her creativity freely with the only limit being her

imagination. Although still in consideration, her goals include tattoo artist and animator producer, and she believes some

changes are required in our modern cartoons such as representing more various types of people, enough to resemble reality.

For all the artistically talented ones who seek guidance, Ms. Choi recommends us with a word familiar yet filled with impact,

“practice”. The former school magazines would’ve never reached their impressive quality with her efforts of three years

at the Belltower magazine.

Interviewing Mr. Clark

Why have you decided to become a school counselor in Chadwick? !There’s more to school other than classroom and homework. i think it important to adjust other people’s life issues other than just work in classrooms. I enjoy working with students, guiding them to become better members of the society.  !!What is the number one issue in Chadwick as your observation? !The number one issue that I found is conflicts of amongst peers and friend and feeling overwhelmed over demands and peer pressure from classrooms.

<Ms. Jung> -“Don’t compare yourself to the best of what you see because that's what others want you to believe is the life they are leading. -No one talks about the boring weekends uneventful holidays spent with family or the hard stuff. -Compare yourself against your past self. You'll be surprised all the things you've learned and can do now. Go you!”

<Mr. Tilly>

“Try lots of new things and

concentrate more in classes.”

Grade 8 Teachers

What advice would you give to your 8th grade self?

<Ms. Rennie> “I would tell myself, when you are older, you will not care

if you were a top student, or studied until 2am, or what

clothes you wore when you were in 8th grade. Do not burn

yourself out, instead look around, make great friends -

some will be your friends forever. Try all sports and

activities, these adventures are what you will remember,

appreciate your family, they are your greatest support

and read.”

Jim decided to tell a joke to Tim, and Tim accepts.

Jim says, “Why did the chicken cross the road?”Tim said, “Jim honestly I’m really sick of that old cheap joke, it doesn’t even make sense.”Jim says, “No idiot, the chicken crossed the road to get to the idiot’s house.”

Tim said, “Oh, then what time does the chicken arrive to your house?”

We’re sure Jim is angry and possibly called him something that he shouldn’t do.

While Tim just chuckles, quite savage don’t you think?

And then Jim decided to beat up Tim. Jim is now in detention for week.

“One time I rested my head on the green poster in the elevator and then..”

“And I decided to read the green poster and I regretted that decision.”

“Next to my head, a gigantic grasshopper, which was camouflaged on the poster, and I was obviously shocked”

“One of the antennas touched me, and I cried metamorphic tears.”
