November 4, 2019 Dear Parents, Our class is creating a History Wax Museum of people who have made a positive impact on the world. Students will choose a famous “hero” to research and will compose a first-person narrative speech in class . Students will perform their speech in COSTUME in front of the class on either December 6th or 9th. The dates will be assigned, as we get closer. Students will perform for other classes during the school day on December 10th. The family performance will be the evening of December 10th in the auditorium. There is a 5:45 “curtain call” for students to set up and doors will open for parents and other guests at 6:00. HOMEWORK : Students will need to work on their props (button), costumes and posters at home. COSTUMES: Students will dress in clothing so that they resemble the person and the historical period in which they lived. The costume really helps students feel like they ARE the character, so the more detail the better, but don’t break the bank! COSTUMES NEED TO BE READY BY December 6th. PROPS : Students need to come up with a prop to accompany their costume. This prop will be used as a “button” for the audience to press in order to have the “wax figure” speak. Be creative! Make sure the prop goes along with the person and is easy to move from place to place, as your child will have to be able to take it up and down stairs on his or her own. Please, NO HANDOUTS (candy, goodie toys, etc.). PROPS ARE DUE ON December 6th. POSTER: Students will make a tri-fold poster to represent their person. We will work on the Ten Poster Facts and Sketch in class. These will be sent home in plenty of time to complete the rest of the poster at

Dear Parents,

Our class is creating a History Wax Museum of people who have made a positive impact on the world. Students will choose a famous “hero” to research and will compose a first-person narrative speech in class.

HOMEWORK: Students will need to work on their props (button), costumes and posters at home.

These will be sent home in plenty of time to complete the rest of the poster at home. Directions for the poster can be found on the back of this letter. POSTERS ARE DUE ON December 6th.

This is always an enjoyable and memorable project!

Thank you for your support!

Wax Museum Poster – Due: DECEMBER 6thYou will create a tri-fold poster at home to display during your speech. A good poster will…

Be very neat, creative and colorful. Reflect your hero’s personality and accomplishments. Include a large and neat title header. Include all ten facts with other important information. Include your colored sketch (done in class). Have pictures that are relevant to your hero. You can also include 3-D items, if you want.
