Math : adding 2 and 3 digit numbers Social Studies: landforms and natural disasters; Social Studies test this week Science: plant and animal life cycles; heredity; Science test and vocab quiz next week S.S. Vocabulary (will be tested at end of unit): Elevation map – shows the height above sea level Physical map – shows physical features of the land Political map – shows the boundaries that divide countries and states Resource map - shows how land is being used Population map – shows how many people live in a place Longitude – imaginary lines that run North to South Latitude – imaginary lines that run East to West Absolute location – the exact place where something is in the world Relative location – where something is in relation to something else Mountain – the tallest landform Valley – a low place between two mountains Plateau – a large, flat area of land that is higher than the land surrounding it Canyon – a deep valley with very steep sides Plain – large areas of flat land Peninsula – land surrounded by water on 3 sides Isthmus – a narrow strip of land connecting two larger bodies of land Strait – a narrow body of water that connects two other bodies Delta- low, watery land found at the mouth of a river; usually shaped like a triangle Bay - a body of water partly enclosed by land Math facts: Memorize these facts. 1.3x1=3 11.3x11=33 2.3x2=6 12.12x3=36 3.3x3=9 13.2x11=22 4.3x4=12 14.2x6=12 5.3x5=15 15.2x9=18 6.3x6=18 16.2x4=8 7.7x3=21 17.12x2=24
