Science FairScientific Investigation Taken tothe Next Level!

Thank you to everyone who participatedin the 2015 Science Fair. Students ingrades 5 - 8 presented individualprojects, while grades PK - 4 completedclass projects. Projects in grades 5 and 7were evaluated by faculty and parentvolunteers. The following studentsreceived special recognition for theirscientific investigations:

Georgia Head has earned the prestigious title of the 2015National American Miss Florida! She will represent the great stateof Florida as she advances to the National Pageant in Anaheim,California during Thanksgiving week, where she will have theopportunity to win her share of over $500,000 in cash and prizes!

The National American Miss Pageants are dedicated tocelebrating America's greatness and encouraging its futureleaders; the National American Miss Pageants are for "Today'sGirl" and "Tomorrow's Leaders". The pageant program is basedon inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation, and offers an "AllAmerican Spirit" of fun for family and friends. Emphasis is placedon the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills,learning good attitudes about competition, and setting andachieving goals. The pageant seeks to recognize theaccomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goalsfor the future.

Eighth grade students on the Girls VarsityBasketball team were honored with a rose lastweek, recognizing their final home game at ESCS.Congratulations, Lady Patriots - thank you for youreffort and sportsmanship on Team ESCS!

Every year, the Knights of Columbus donate Biblesto all third-grade students in the Parish. At thePrayer Service on Wednesday, the KoC gaveBibles to the members of the third grade class,which will be used throughout their time at ESCSuntil they graduate as eighth-graders. Mrs Pennassured our third graders that "this is the bestbook you'll ever read!" Thank you to the KoC!

Congratulations to the ESCS Boys Varsity Soccerteam, who wrapped up their season this week bytaking the 3rd place trophy in the annual PYCTournament. Thanks to Mr. Vargas and Mr. Arroyofor their fantastic coaching of a great season!

Ms Harper's second grade class hosted a beautifulPrayer Service on Wednesday, leading our schoolcommunity in reflection and song and givingthanks for all the blessings in our lives!

Prayer Partners in grades 7 and K spent time together this week, creating art projects that reflectedthe many things for which we thank God every day. We're grateful for the time these students spendgetting to know each other ... and for the ways they model Christ for one another.

In November, ESCS students and brothersAlfonso, Daniel and Alejandro Vargas-Boggianowere recognized by Florida Governor Rick Scottfor their participation in the state-wide HispanicHeritage Month Essay Contest. All three studentswrote essays talking about the influence ofHispanic culture on their lives. Congratulations tothe Vargas family!
