IntroductionI wrote my poetry anthology on Friendship. I choose this topic because I

care a lot for my friends and I think it is a very valuable thing in life. You can learn things from having friends and also learn lessons from the mistakes you may make with them. I know from personally experience that my friends are the ones I trust and I respect them in every way possible because they are there for me and make the best of my teenage years come real.

The poems that I've found on the internet appeal to me in many ways because I can relate to them. I can relate to them from my past and the things I have done with my friends. One poem that I like is the first one because in the first two stanzas it basically explains how me and my friends are when we’re together. The second poem I chose is something I can’t relate to just now because I'm not old yet, but in the future I will look back at my friends and hopefully be able to relate to this poem. Poem number six I can really relate to because it is more modern and it explains things that me and my best friends would do everyday.

Poem #1The Best of FriendsBy: Jill Wolf The best of friends,Can change a frown,Into a smile,when you feel down.

The best of friends,Will understand,Your little trials,And lend a hand.

The best of friends,Will always share,Your secret dreams,Because they care.

The best of friends,Worth more than gold,Give all the love,A heart can hold.

Poem #2When you are oldBy: William Butler Yeats

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,And nodding by the fire, take down this book,And slowly read, and dream of the soft lookYour eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,And loved your beauty with love false or true,But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fledAnd paced upon the mountains overheadAnd hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

Poem #3Happiness By: Raymond Carver

So early it's still almost dark out.I'm near the window with coffee,and the usual early morning stuffthat passes for thought. When I see the boy and his friendwalking up the roadto deliver the newspaper.

They wear caps and sweaters,and one boy has a bag over his shoulder.They are so happythey aren't saying anything, these boys.

I think if they could, they would takeeach other's arm.It's early in the morning,and they are doing this thing together.

They come on, slowly.The sky is taking on light,though the moon still hangs pale over the water.

Such beauty that for a minutedeath and ambition, even love,doesn't enter into this.

Happiness. It comes onunexpectedly. And goes beyond, really,any early morning talk about it.

Poem #4Be A Friend By: Edgar A Guest

Be a friend. You don't need money: Just a disposition sunny; Just the wish to help another Get along some way or other; Just a kindly hand extended Out to one who's unbefriended; Just the will to give or lend, This will make you someone's friend.

Be a friend. You don't need glory. Friendship is a simple story. Pass by trifling errors blindly, Gaze on honest effort kindly, Cheer the youth who's bravely trying, Pity him who's sadly sighing; Just a little labor spend On the duties of a friend.

Be a friend. The pay is bigger (Though not written by a figure) Than is earned by people clever In what's merely self-endeavor. You'll have friends instead of neighbors For the profits of your labors; You'll be richer in the end Than a prince, if you're a friend

Poem #5A Golden ChainBy: Helen Steiner Rice Friendship is a Golden Chain, The links are friends so dear, And like a rare and precious jewel It's treasured more each year... It's clasped together firmly With a love that's deep and true, And it's rich with happy memories and fond recollections, too... Time can't destroy its beauty For, as long as memory lives, Years can't erase the pleasure That the joy of friendship gives... For friendship is a priceless gift That can't be bought or sold, But to have an understanding friend Is worth far more than gold... And the Golden Chain of Friendship Is a strong and blessed tie Binding kindred hearts together As the years go passing by.

Poem #6True FriendMiley Cyrus

[VERSE 1] We sign our cards and letters BFFYou've got a million ways to make me laughYou're lookin' out for me; you've got my backIt's so good to have you aroundYou know the secrets I could never tellAnd when I'm quiet you break through my shellDon't feel the need to do a rebel yellCause you keep my feet on the ground

[CHORUS 1] You're a true friendYou're here till the endYou pull me asideWhen something ain't rightTalk with me now and into the night'Til it's alright againYou're a true friend

[VERSE 2] You don't get angry when I change the plansSomehow you're never out of second chancesWon't say "I told you" when I'm wrong againI'm so lucky that I've found

[CHORUS 2]

[BRIDGE] True friends will go to the ends of the earthTill they find the thing you needFriends hang on through the ups and the downsCause they've got someone to believe in

Poem #8FriendBy: Renee donna Bufete

A friend is a personto laugh and cry with,An inspiration,Someone who lends a helping hand,though friends may not be forever,And they may not end up together,the memories of a true friendship willlast forever.A friend is not a shadow nor a servantBut someone who holda piece of a person in his heart.Someone who shares a smile,Someone who brightens up your dayWhat makes a person a friend?Is by saying your Love will stay?

Poem #9 (Extra Poem)

True FriendshipBy: Samantha Sumler

True friends are for life Until the end They're more than special They're your bestest friends.

They're the ones you can go to When you're in despair The ones that'll help you Even when you got gum in your hair!

They're the ones who'll laugh And go laughing with you all through the night The ones who'll help you Help you with all their might

To have a good friend You have to be one So be nice to one another So you can be friends forever And that's how to be the best friend you can be.

My Poem #4Heartless(Shape Poem)By: Sarah Saunders

You should never be That one too be fall in love with Your very best friend for if that will happenThen you both with be cursed with the horrible thingOf perhaps loosing your best friend, or even your mateBecause if that is the case, then you should not even try You do not want this in your future, yet it will be good For your bestfriend who is there for you, will be there for good, but all in all, your husband or wife, could be the bestfriend you will end up needing the most, when your best- friend is not there for you..... ................... ........... ......
