Welcome back students, parents and Seaham school
staff to another exciting term at Seaham Public
School. I hope your holiday was relaxing and gave
you all a chance to enjoy some quality family time.
Staffing News: This term we have some changes
in terms of staffing. Mrs Lawler is currently on leave
and Mrs Elliott will be KL’s teacher for weeks one and
two. Mrs Feenan is continuing her leave with Mrs
Brown and Miss Lowcock covering our library
sessions. Congratulations also to Mrs Brown who
secured a two day permanent library position at
Clarence Town on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On
these days Miss Lowcock will be working in our
library. Later in the term Mrs Dybell will be on leave
from September 4 until the end of term. Miss
Lowcock will be taking over as 5/6D’s teacher during
this time. Mrs Johns will also be taking leave from
26 August until the end of the term. During these
times our teachers work hard to ensure that
teaching programs continue and the change is
seamless ensuring limited disruption for our
students. Mrs Lewis in our office will also be on
leave in weeks seven and eight and Mrs Buckley
from the office will be continuing her leave on
Fridays with Mrs Stulz relieving in the office.
Garden Area: Our new garden area looks fantastic.
Thank you so much to all those families that assisted
in putting it all together, in particular Kerri and
Gavin McCaw who have given up a lot of their time
to organise materials, people and have done a lot of
the hard work themselves. The garden will be open
at recess and lunch. At the moment teachers are
spending time talking to their classes and ensuring
that everyone knows the rules in our garden area.
W h e n a l l t e a c h e r s h a v e h a d
this talk the garden wi l l be open.
Swimming School: At the moment we have thirty
seven Stage Two students booked in for our
swimming program at Balance which begins
tomorrow.

Principal’s Message Cont.
These students will receive a separate note
today reminding them about the swimming
program and what they will need to bring.
There are still places available, the program
cost $65 which includes bus travel and five
swimming lessons. Each lesson is a full
hour with a wonderful instructor. It is well
worth the money. A payment first thing
tomorrow morning can still secure your
child/ren a place.
Do you know that Brandy Hill Quarry is intending
to: More than double its output to 1.5 million
tonnes/year and Build a concrete batching plant
and include a concrete recycling centre.
That will mean; more quarrying and blasting
noise, more trucks on local roads, 24 hour
operation, 7 days/week. Are you concerned?
We urge you to attend a meeting to voice your
views and gauge community opinion.

Purple notes were sent home last term to our
Stage Two and Three Students. Please return
these notes to the office and indicate if your
child/ren will be participating. This program
has been very impressive and we highly
recommend participation. It caters for all

outstanding. For five weeks including seat
belted bus travel it is very affordable at $65.00.

On Tuesday we welcomed Jasmine Beards into
4/5B. Jasmine, who was previously at Morpeth
Public, was very excited about starting school at
Seaham. We know that all of 4/5B and Seaham
school will make Jasmine feel very comfortable
and a part of our school community.
Our book fair will be taking place this term in
week 3, commencing 29 July. Students and
families are welcome to browse through the
selection that will be on display and create a
wish list to take home. Students and families
will be able to purchase books from the Monday
through to the Thursday before school and
during recess and lunch.
Congratulations to Isaac Buckley who was
successful in his selection in the Hunter Rugby
Union Trials. Isaac and the Hunter team will
now participate in the State competition on 22
August. Well done Isaac.
Congratulations also to Corey Holloway who was
successful in his Hunter Softball trials.
We look forward to hearing about both boys
experiences on their return.

Mini Masterchefs
Mrs Imber and her Stage Two classes have
been busy making delicious pizzas as part of
their science and technology unit. It was very
successful and busy yesterday and today I’m
sure will be the same. Photos from yesterday
on page 4.
Girls & Boys Soccer
Notes were forwarded home this week in
relation to the next round of PSSA soccer for
our boys and girls. The game will take place on
Wednesday at Bowthorne Park, Wallalong. A
reminder for families to please meet in the
undercover area for pickup at the designated
times. This eliminates continued interruption
to the class.
