Mr. K’s Korner We have just about made it through our 3rd quarter. It’s hard to believe
that that the school year is closing in on us. As we begin 4th quarter
after Spring Break, we will gear up for the State testing for grades 3rd-
6th. Please speak to your teacher for actual grade level testing times and
be diligent in scheduling around these important dates so your students
will not miss these scheduled test days. Attendance in important and late
arrivals will disrupt the testing schedule.
Kindergarten registration is open for the 2020-2021
school year. If you have not registered your child,
you can log on to your parent portal and register
your new student. If you have any friends or
neighbors that have incoming kindergarteners, please pass on the
information to them as well. We have scheduled our Kindergarten
Round Up for Tuesday May 19th from 8:00-9:30 am.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns. please feel free to
contact me. I will always make the time to talk to you. My direct phone
line is 480-472-8725.

PENNY WARS UPDATE
The Media Center and PE Department would like to send out a heart felt THANK YOU to
all that participated in our penny wars this year. We raised $3000 for our PE Department,
and an additional $500 for the library. Thank you again for the incredible support.
Students planned and plotted all week, and our 6th grade students came out on top for most money
raised in a grade level. The winners have won the opportunity to toss water balloons at Mr.
Kaczmarek, Mr Cuocci, and Mrs. McConnell.
Recent media reports about Coronavirus in Arizona have caused alarm for many in the valley. According to Maricopa County Public Health, "If the person does not have any symptoms, they can continue with their daily activities such as going to work, school or other public area. If they do become symptomatic and elect to seek healthcare, they are advised to call their provider/healthcare facility to notify them of their travel and symptoms prior to arrival."
The best ways to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including influenza, are:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Stay home when you are sick.
Cover your cough/sneeze with a tissue, then immediately throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects/surfaces. For additional information, please visit: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov

Counselors Corner~
This month our classroom lessons for all students
have to do with all forms of Problem Solving. From
how to invite someone to play, taking turns,
playground problems, how to work as a team, etc.
During the lessons, each student will think of ways to
solve the problem and then choose a safe and
respectful solution. Students learned that even when
choosing a solution, its important to remember that
there are consequences depending on our choices.
Our Problem-Solving Steps are as follows:
Say the Problem (without using blaming words
like “never” and “always”)
Think of Solutions (safe and respectful)
Explore Consequences (what could happen if…)
Pick the best solution (make your plan)
