The MPX is a sealless, horizontal, single stage, back pullout, centerline discharge pump available in both frame mounted and close-coupled configurations. The close-coupled version is ideal for applications rith space constraints or where
there is a need to minimize alignment concerns. Available sizes include ANSFASME group 1 and group 2, along with "sub-ANSI", low co low capacity sizes.

CONSTRUCTION DETAILS Casing — The casing is a self-venting, top centerline discharge design with a confined gasket. Flanges are 150# flat faced (100-150 RMS finish) as standard.
Impeller — The semi-open impeller is precision-cast for consistent high efficiency and low NPSH. The impeller is statically and hydraulically balanced and adjustable to maintain maximum performance. Scallops and pumping vanes mininiize axial thrust, ensuring long-term equipment reliability.
Drive System — The standard magnet-to-magnet drive system uses high-strength, rare earth, neodymium iron boron magnets designed to handle torque over the entire pump operating range, up to 100 hp. The inner magnet carrier is engineered to optimize magnetic flux while minimizing weight. The outer magnet carrier is designed to withstand corrosive, external environ-ments. Optional samarium cobalt magnets are available for high-temperature applications.
Containment Shell — The standard containment shell is engineered composite, reinforced Polyether Etherketone (PEEK). This polymer far exceeds alloys in minimizing electrical conductivity, eliminating eddy-current drag, maximizing pump efficiency and protecting against flashing. An optional hydroformed Hastelloy C shell can be used alone or with the PEEK shell as a dual contaimnent system.
Product Lubricated Bearings — Product lubricated bearings are constructed of porous, graphite-filled silicon carbide for maximum corrosion and abrasion resistance, and improved run-dry capability.
Monitoring — The pump is designed to allow moni-toring of vibration, fluid temperature and containment shell temperature, dual shell pressure measurement and dry-rim shutdown.
Frame End — The pump frame end is of iron construc-tion, with full register fits to assure aligmnent. Close-coupled mounting is available up to 40 hp.
Ball Bearings — The standard ball bearings are sealed, grease lubricated and designed for minimum B-10 or L-10 life of ten years. Oil lubrication is optional.
Pump Shaft — Engineered for maximum cooling and ease of maintenance, the internal shaft has a center-line flow path and uses abrasion-resistant, ceramic coating as standard.
Flow Path — The MPX flow path is designed to ensure optimum cooling and bearing lubrication, allowing solids handling capability up to 1% by weight and 100 micron size. An optional self cleaning wash-flow strainer enables greater solids handling capability.

Problem: This Gulf Coast customer has experienced frequent, costly failures on an installation pumping a high specific gravity chemical.
PGS-200 Advanced Bearing Material: The state-of-the-art, graphite-filled, silicon carbide bearings displayed exceptional endurance throughout the extensive bearing development tests performed at Ingersoll-Dresser Pumps' Corporate Technology Center. This self-lubricating material will ensure maximum reliability for the inherently difficult services utilizing sealless technology.
Safety Skid-Ring: This ring will protect the shell from contact with the outer magnet carrier, ensuring reliability and safety at all times.
With the MPX Flow Path Analysis Software, Ingersoll-Dresser Pumps can offer the most sophisticated internal magdrive analysis available. This software will accurately ensure a successful installation before you invest in equipment.
Solution: With the standard self-lubricating bearings, the internal flow path design, and the low-thrust impeller, the MPX has significantly extended this customer's MTBF.
Secondary Containment Option:
The MPX allows the use of two static
containment shells (reinforced PEEK and hydroformed
Hastelloy C), each indi- vidually providing 100% fluid
containment. This design provides added security for critical services.
Low-Thrust Impeller Design: The precision-cast, semi-open impeller utilizes hydraulic scallops and pumping slots to achieve maximum efficiency while minimizing axial thrust. This design ensures excellent bearing life without the use of detrimental balance holes.
Optimized Internal Flow Path: Ingersoll-Dresser Pumps' Corporate Technology Center performed precise MPX flow path testing in order to optimize internal cooling and bearing lubrication across the entire pump operating range. Results can be shown in the Flow Path Analysis software program.

shaft coating provides an optimum running
surface for the process-lubricated,
