From Vice-Chancellor's Desk...
I proudly present this MPUAT Newsletter covering the
significant events of the University. It is a matter of great pleasure that
one more college i.e. College of Home Science is celebrating this year
as its Golden Jubilee Year. Further the University has got accreditation
from ICAR for a period of five years (from 28.3.2016 to 27.03.2021).
The UG and PG programs of the constituted colleges of the University
i.e. RCA, CTAE and College of Home Science have been accredited.
The College of Dairy & Food Science Technology and College of
Fisheries will be accredited in due course. The State Government has
conveyed bank guarantee for sanctioning a loan of Rs. 50.0 crores
from Bank of India for payment of due gratuity and commutation amount to the retired employees. The long pending
issue of bifurcation of land and buildings between Mohan Lal Sukhadia University and Manarana Pratap University of
Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur was finalized by the Bifurcation Committee in its meeting held on 6th June, 2016.
Decision regarding establishment of Research Chair (Shodh Peeth) in the name of Maharana Pratap has been taken. A
committee has been constituted for finalizing Invocation Song (Kul Geet) of the university before the next convocation.
The university has requested to the State Government for transferring the four State Farms to the University for research
work. I urge upon all our staff, faculty and senior officials to keep up the tempo of work and work hard to bring name and
fame to the University.

State Level Oilseed Farmer's Fair
MPUAT organized State Level Oilseed Krishi
Vigyan Mela during 17-19th March, 2016 at Rajasthan
College of Agriculture, Udaipur. This Mela was sponsored
by Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Rajasthan,
Jaipur under National Mission on Oilseed and Oil palms.
The theme of the mela was Self Reliance through
Celebration of Golden Jubilee Year of the
College of Home Science
The constituent College of MPUAT i.e. College of
Home Science has stepped into its Golden Jubilee year and
various activities have been planned to adorn this year.
The Golden Jubilee celebration "Swarn Abhuday Fest -
2016" was organised on January 23rd, 2016 in which Smt.
Aparna Vaish, Additional Director General , Operations,
Prasar Bharti, New Delhi was the Chief Guest, Sh.
Niranjan Arya, IAS, Chief Commissioner, Scouts &
Guides, Rajasthan was Guest of Honour and Sh. Hemant
Purohit, IPS, Additional Director General of Police,
Rajasthan was Guest of Eminence. Prof. P.K. Dashora,
Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Maharana Pratap University of
Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur presided over the
function. Dr. Arti Sankhala, Dean of the college presented
achievements of the college during last 50 years.
Foundation stone laying of Swarn Jayanti Dawar was also
done by the Chief Guest Mrs. Aparna Vaish.

Two days II Alumni Meet was organised on 23rd &
24th Jan., 2016 in which 255 alumni participated
enthusiastically. Chief Guest of the programme was Dr.
Ajit Gupta, Former Chair person, Rajasthan Sahitya
Academy & BOM Member, MPUAT. On this occasion 50
Alumni were facilitated. Oath was also taken by the newly
elected Executive committee.
One the eve of 476th birthday of Maharana Pratap,
the legendary King of Mewar and freedom fighter
Maharana Pratap Memorial Lecture-2016 was organised
on 6th June, 2016 on the topic "Relevance of Pratap in
Present Context". The speech was given by Prof. K.S.
Gupta, Former Professor and Eminent Historian, MLSU,
Udaipur and Dr. P.K. Dashora, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor
was Chief Guest of the function. The programme was
presided by Prof. Uma Shanker Sharma, Hon'ble Vice-
Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur. 02
Improved Production Technologies of Oilseeds. The mela
was inaugurated by Prof. V.B. Singhji, Former Vice-
Chancellor of MPUAT and the inaugural function was
presided by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of MPUAT, Prof.
U.S. Sharma. While speaking in his inaugural address he
appealed to the farmers for the adoption of new
technologies to obtain maximum production from per unit
area. He also advised farmers that crop diversification is
must for sustainability for that they should include oilseed
crops in their system. During this mela various crop
competitions, exhibitions, and special technical sessions
were organized.
Valedictory function of the Krishi Vigyan Mela
was organized on 19th March,2016 and the function was
chaired by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of MPUAT, Prof.
U.S. Sharma and Chief Guest was Shri Arjun Lal Meena,
MP, Udaipur & Shri Chandra Singh Kothari, Chairman,
Udaipur Nagar Nigam was the Guest of Honour. While
speaking on this occasion Shri Arjun Lal Meena appealed
to the farmers for less dependence on chemical
agriculture. In this mela more than 5000 farmers visited
and saw the exhibitions. On this occasion a special issue of
Rajasthan Kehti, technical bulletin written by Dr. P.
Chaplot & Dr. I.J. Mathur, Professor, DEE was published
and released by honorable dignitaries on the eve of
inaugural function.

The Pushpanjali Programme was organized on 7th May, 2016 in front the statue of the great leader Maharana Pratap on the occasion of Pratap Jayanti by Prof. Uma Shanker Sharma, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur and the staff of the University.
The International Yoga Day was organised on 21st June, 2016 at University Indoor Complex with Yoga camp from 22nd to 25th June, 2016. An exhibition was also organised on this occasion. The Yogasan and Pranayaam training was given by Sh. Sanjay Dixit and Sh. Deepesh Vats along with volunteers. University staff and students participated in the programme.

Conferences, Seminar, Workshop, Summer School, Winter School, Orientation Courses etc. organized
programmes being conducted at 21 centres in
different states of country was done through 4
technical sessions during three days meeting.
�ICAR Sponsored 21 days Summer School entitled
"Technological Advances and Productive Strategies
in Organic Agriculture and their Internalization with
Agro-ecosystems" was organized during 1 - 21
June, 2016 at Directorate of Research, MPUAT,
Udaipur. Prof. U. S. Sharma, Hon'ble Vice-
Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur and Dr. A. S. Panwar,
Director, Indian Institute of Farming System
Research, Modipuram were present during the
Inaugural Session held on June 1, 2016. Thirty
scientists of 10 disciplines from 6 states (Punjab,
M.P., Rajasthan, Gujrat, J&K and U.P.) participated
in the Summer School training programmes. Dr. N.
S. Rathore, DDG, Agricultural Education, ICAR,
New Delhi, Dr. P. K. Dashora, Vice-Chancellor,
University of Kota, Kota and Dr. G. S. Ameta,

At Directorate of Research
�The 46th Annual Group Meeting of All India
Coordinated Research Project on Sorghum in
collaboration of Indian Institute of Millet Research
(IIMR), Hyderabad was organized at Directorate of
Research, MPUAT, Udaipur during 25-27 April,
2016. Dr. U. S. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, MPUAT,
Udaipur as a Chairman, Dr. I. S. Solanki, ADG
(FFC), ICAR, New Delhi as Chief Guest and Dr. V.
A. Tonapi, Director IIMR, Hyderabad addressed the
Group Meeting. About 130 Scientists participated in
the meeting. The review of on-going research

�Dr. Arti Sankhla, Dr. Neeta Lodha and Dr. Renu
Mogra organized two days' workshop on Promoting
Quality of life through Health Awareness and
Education from 18th - 19th January, 2016. About 80
women and adolescent girls were benefitted.
�21 Refresher Training Course of six days duration
were organized from Jan. to June 2016 benefitting
278 ICDS supervisors.
�Ten days coordinated training for 40 adolescent girls
and women from 15th to 25th February 2016 of all
the five components of Home Science was
conducted in the Operational village of AICRP.
�One day training was organized in February, 2016
on "Care and Nutritional Aspect of Early Childhood
years" for III year nursing students of Kalptaru
Nursing Institute of Udaipur.
�Exhibition on "Agriculture and household drudgery
reducing technologies" was arranged at State level
Kisan Mela organized by MPUAT, Udaipur during
17 to 19thMarch, 2016.
�A two days training on Nutrition for family was
organized by PG students at village Hawala Khurd
on 4th &5th May, 2016 in which 16 rural women
participated.
�Dept. of Textiles and Apparel Designing organized
three days 'Rajasthani Paramparic Alankaran
Prashikshan Shivir' from 25th - 27th February 2016
for 25 adolescents/women at Nari Niketan,Udaipur.
�Three days Capacity building training on Farm stead
and Homestead drudgery reducing tools and
technologies for women farmers at KVK,
Dungarpur on 9-10thJune, 2016 benefiting 28 rural
women.
�Training on Beauty Culture (Skill India) for a batch
of 33 adolescent girls and women was organized
from 1.6.16 to 30.6.2016 in Maanpura village.
�A two days "Career fit -Employability training plus
placement drive workshop" was organized on 24th
& 25th May, 2016 for graduate (vocational
package), post-graduate, Ph.D and ex students in
College of Home Science, Udaipur.

�A One day workshop on "Skill Development" was
organized on 29th Jan 2016 by Department of
Mechanical Engineering for Third Year Students in
association with NIIT in Department.
Trainings in association with Directorate of
Extension Education of MPUAT for farmers, farm youth
and technical person were organized:
i) Exposure visit cum training program from 11th Jan.
- 15th Jan., 2016 on Processing & Value Addition in
Maize.
ii) Training on Processing and Value Addition of Maize
(Banswara) from 16th - 20th Jan., 2016 and 17th -
19th March, 2016 from 18th - 22nd May, 2016 on
Processing & Value Addition in Maize.
iii) National Seminar on "Technological Start-up &
Entrepreneurial issues in Dairy & Food Industry on
11th June 2016 was organized jointly by Alumni
Association & CDFST.
iv) One day training cum demonstration of value added
products of maize on 27th June, 2016 on
Entrepreneurship Development through Value

Significant Research Achievements

�Two varieties of maize viz. Pratap Makka-9 (PM-9)
and Pratap Hybrid Maize-3 (PHM-3) have been
notified by Central Variety Release Committee
during April, 2016.
�The composite variety Pratap Makka-9 has grain
yield potential of 45-47 q/ha with maturity duration
of 81-87 days. The grain colour of this composite is
yellow. It is suitable for rainfed conditions of
Rajasthan. Pratap Makka-9 is resistant to major
diseases and stem lorer.
�The hybrid variety PHM-3 has grain yield potential
of 55-60 q/ha with maturity duration of 84-88 days.
The grain colour of this hybrid is yellow. It has stay
green fodder at the time of harvesting. Pratap
Hybrid Maize-3 is resistant to MLB, PFSR and
moderately resistant to TLB and cyst nematode.

New Research Projects sanctioned
EXTENSION ACTIVITIESwas chaired by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Uma
Shankar Sharma. In this meeting invited eminent
scientists Prof. P. K. Dashora, Vice-Chancellor, Kota
University, Kota and Prof. P .S. Rathore, Vice-Chancellor,
S.K.N Agriculture University, Jobner participated. At the
outset Prof. G. S. Tiwari, Director Extension presented the
action taken report for the previous year & progress report
of extension activities carried out during 2015-16. Prof. U.
S. Sharma in his presidential address congratulated DEE
for the remarkable work done and advised KVKs to
strengthen the process of transfer of technology in South
& South-East Rajasthan so as to enhance productivity of

Extension Education Council Meeting
Scientific Advisory Committee Meetings were
organized at KVKs of MPUAT during March, 2016. The
purpose of these meeting were to review the progress of
2015-16 and finalize the action plan for the year 2016-
17.In these meeting Prof. G.S. Tiwari, Director Extension
chaired these meetings and gave his valuable suggestions
for improvement and smooth functioning of KVKs. Prof.
P.P. Rohilla, from ZPD unit VI, attended the SAC meeting
at Dungarpur, Banswara & Pratapgarh. He emphasized on
development of model village by KVK through
convergence of all developmental activities, inclusion of
new varieties in FLD, issue of 10000 soil health cards, etc.
In these meeting Zonal Director Research of respective
Zones, Joint Directors, District Level Officers of
Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal
Husbandry, NABARD, Soil & Water Conservation,
NGOs etc., participated.
17th Extension Education Council Meeting of
MPUAT was organized on 22nd June, 2016. The meeting
were sponsored by Bio-fuel Authority, Govt. of
Rajasthan, Jaipur. The participants were
disseminated knowledge regarding production
technology of Jatropha, Karanja and Mahua, bio-
fuel policies and strategies for wasteland
improvement.
�DEE organized five days training programme on
"Bamboo Production Technology" sponsored by
Forest Department, Govt. of Rajasthan. In this
training 50 forest officers from Bhilwara,
Banswara, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Pratapgarh
participated.
�One Interstate training for farmers of Mandsaur
(MP) district under ATMA on "Integrated Farming
System" was organized in which 30 farmers
participated.
�DEE organized one Master Trainers Training under
"Cluster Demonstration on Food Processing and
Value Addition of Maize and Wheat under Central
Scheme of Nutri-farms (RKVY)"at KVK Siorhi on
11th March, 2016. In these trainings 28 Sathins,
Anganwari workers, Asha Sahyogi and progressive
farm women participated. DEE also organized 14
cluster demonstrations in different villages of
Pindwara Panchayat Samiti from 13-19 March, 2016
and in these trainings 389 farm women participated.
A maize festival was also organized at Nitoda village,
district Siorhi. In this festival 112 farm women from
neighbouring villages participated. On this occasion
an exhibition based on QPM recipes was organized
and products were displayed.
�An interaction session was organized by DEE with
international participants of training pogramme on
"Entrepreneurship Education to Strengthen
Emerging Economies" on 14th March, 2016. This
programme was under the aegis of ITEC-MEA,
Govt. of India, New Delhi and organized by the
Entrepreneurship Development Institute,
Ahmedabad. In this training 42 participants from 24
countries are took part. Prof. S. M. Mathur, In-
charge PRISM and Dr. Piyush Jani, Assoc. Prof.
briefed about the entrepreneurial activities
conducted by the MPUAT.
�ACCESS sponsored three days training on
"Processing and Value Addition of Maize" was
organized. In this 16 farm women and four field
level officers participated. The purpose of the
the region. Prof. P. K. Dashora said that KVKs are playing
a significant role in transfer of technology and suggested
formulation of seed production policy and publication of
farmer's friendly literature. Prof. P. S. Rathore suggested
that KVKs under FLD programme should include latest
pipeline varieties and also focus on entrepreneurship
development.
�Directorate of Extension Education organized a
Model Training Course on "Management
Techniques for Federating Farmers into Business
Groups" during 18-25th January, 2016. This
training was sponsored by Department of
Agriculture & Cooperation,Ministry of Agriculture
& Family Welfare, GOI, New Delhi and in this
training 18 participants from different states of India
participated.
�DEE organized two trainings for Agriculture
Officers of Odisha State on "Management
Techniques for Federating Farmers into Business
Groups" and "Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
for Agricultural Production". In these trainings 40
agriculture officers of Odisha State participated.
These trainings were sponsored by Department of
Agriculture & Food Production, Government of
Odisha.
�DEE organized five state level trainings of 5 days
duration under ATMA scheme on "Integrated
Farming Systems" and "Irrigation Water
Management". In this training 183 farmers from
Udaipur, Tonk and Jalore districts participated.
�DEE and KVKs of MPUAT organized 11training
programmes on "Production Technology of Tree
Borne Oilseeds Crops" and in these trainings 440
line officials from Govt. of Rajasthan and 110
progressive farmers participated. These trainings

speaking on this occasion Prof. Sharma appealed to
the farmers to adopt Integrated Farming Systems for
sustainable development. Prof. G.S. Tiwari
addressing to farmers said that it is right time for
farmers to learn skills for establishment of their own
enterprise.
�1782 farmers, farm women from New Delhi,
Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan visited
ATIC, University Museum and provided technical
know-how.
�District collector Shri Rohit Gupta attended RATRI
CHAUPAL programme at village Undithal,
Panchayat Samiti - Gogunda on 20th January, 2016.
�Three off campus training programmes were
organized in villages Chhali, Undithal, Kadechawas
and discussed scientific and timely harvest of Rabi
crops(gram, barley and wheat). In this training 97
farmers and farm women participated.
�University scientists attended Gram Sabha on 22
May, 2016 and discussed various issues related to
village development.
�Laid out 20 demonstrations on ginger, 30 demonstrations
on colocasia, yam and turmeric. Organized off campus
trainings on cultivation of tuber crops.
�Meetings were held with Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor,
MPUAT, MLA Gogunda Sh. Pratap Lal Bhil, BDO,
AEn. MGNREGA for discussing the possible
activities to be undertaken for development of
adopted villages.
�Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, MPUAT, Udaipur, Prof.
Uma Shankar Sharma along with Prof. G. S. Tiwari
visited village P. S. Chhali on 6th June, 2016 and
inaugurated the desilting work Umaria carried out
by M/s G.R Infra-projects Ltd.
�Coordination Committee Meeting for holistic
development of P.S. Chhali was organized on 24th
June, 2016 which was chaired by Hon'ble Vice-
Chancellor, MPUAT. He said that development of
SMART Village is prestigious project of Hon'ble
Chancellor and Governor of Rajasthan. He also
appealed to the members for strengthening
cooperation and coordination in development of
Agriculture Technology and Information Centre

addition and processing of maize so that they can
establish their own enterprise.
�Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Pratapgarh organized
training programme on "Bee-keeping" from 12-
13th January, 2016. This training programme was
sponsored by Agriculture University, Kota under
RKVY in which 34 farmers participated.
�KVK organized 146 on and off campus and 38
sponsored training programmes benefitting 7283
farmers, farm women and extension field
functionaries. These training programmes were on
i.e. crop production, horticulture, livestock
management, plant protection, etc.
�KrishiVigyan Kendra, Pratapgarh organized training
programme on "Nematode Management in Crops"
on 16th March, 2016. This training was sponsored by
Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur.In this
training 56 tribal farmers participated. Experts from
MPUAT, Dr. Subhash Bhargava, OSD, MPUAT and
Dr.Magendra Sharma, Head, Department of
Nematology, RCA Udaipur imparted the training
and interacted with the participants. 50 farmers were
provided knap sac sprayer.
�Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Banswara organized training
programme on poultry for Self Employment under
ARYA project. Prof. U.S. Sharma, Hon'ble Vice-

�Awareness Camp on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima
Yojna was organized by KVKs of MPUAT during
1st-5th April, 2016 and in these camps 7838
farmers, farm women and rural youth paticipated.

Extension along with Govt. officials participated in
awareness camps of Rajsamand,Bhilwara
&Chittorgarh.
�KVKs organized 15 vichar gosthies, 5 scientist
farmer interaction, 5 night camps and 7 exposure
visits in which 2698 farmers, farm women and
extension field functionaries took part. In these
activit ies farmers were provided latest
technological knowledge.
�Three animal treatment camps were organized in
which 1628 animals were vaccinated. KVK
sanalyzed 488 soil and water samples of farmers and
provided fertilizer recommendations to the farmers
on soil test report.
�KVKs laid 50 FLD on summer green gram (variety
SML 668) in 16 ha area, 133 demonstrations on

Smart Village. Prof. I. J. Mathur, Coordinator
(Smart Village) & Manager ATIC presented the
progress of work undertaken during six months.
�Scientists of College of Home Science organized a
training cum demonstration on "Energy and protein
rich foods using locally available foods" at Sr.
Secondary School, Chhali on 22nd June, 2016 and 40
women were participated. An awareness camp was
also organized on "Nutrition and health education to
school children" and 30 children were benefitted.
�One day training cum demonstration on value added
product of maize was organized by CDFST, Udaipur
at Atal Seva Kendra, Chhali on 26th June, 2016.
�Registrar, MPUAT Shri Dinesh Kothari along with
scientists of DEE attended Aapke Dwar Programme
at Atal Seva Kendra Chhali on 27th June, 2016.
�KVKs organized 17 field days on mustard, gram,
wheat, onion, barley and summer green gram. In
these field days 1229 farmers took part and saw the
performance of demonstrations.
�KVK scientists visited to 185 farmers field and about
4362 farmers were provided solution to their problems.
�About 7902 farmers visited KVKs, took round of
instructional farm, visited demonstration units and
interacted with scientists.

STUDENTS ACTIVITIES
�The Vivekanand Jayanti was celebrated on 12th
January 2016 as Yuva Utkarsh Day in collaboration
with Divine India Youth Association (DIVA) a
group of Gayatri Parivar, Udaipur. The Chief Guest
of the function was Dr. B.P. Sharma, President,
Pacific University, Udaipur and it was presided over
by Dr. L.K. Murdia, Dean, CDFST and Special
Guest was Dr. V.N. Joshi former Dean RCA,
Udaipur.

�Directorate of Student Welfare arranged the
Insurance cover of Rs. 2.00 Lakhs per student for
3008 students of six colleges under Personal Group
Accident Insurance Policy with The Oriental
Insurance Co.Ltd. on 24th February, 2016.
" Six NSS one day camp were organised by the NSS
Units of RCA, CTAE-A and CTAE-B, CDFST,
C.H.Sc., CoF and CoA, Bhilwara an d conducted
many activities of social awareness, cleanliness drive
of statues and campus and other activities in adopted
villages. Blood donation camps were also organised
during one day special camps and more than 300
units of blood was donated by NSS volunteers.
�NCC Officer P.S. Rao has been awarded by Hon'ble
Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria at District
Level Republic Day function held on 26th Jan.,
2016 for his excellent services. Twenty cadets from
RCA attended CACT held at Kayad Vishram Sthali,
Ajmer from 4th Jan. to 13th Jan. 2016. 24 NCC

certificate examination which was held on 7 & 8th
Feb., 2016 at MB ground. 5 NCC cadets
participated in NCC "C" certificate examination

�The University Tennis team participated in West
Zone Inter University Tennis Tournament from
26thto30th January, 2016 held at D.A.U., Indore.
The team was led by Sh.Yaswant Sharma, USB, as
Manager team.
�The coaching camp was organized for Inter
Agriculture Games & Sports Meet -2016 from 2th to
17th February, 2016. XVI All India Agriculture
University Sports Meet was organized from 22 to
26th February, 2016 at Tamil Nadu Agriculture
University, Coimbatore. A contingent of 41
students along with two team managers participated
in the events of Badminton (M&W), Table Tennis
(M&W), Volleyball (M&W), Basketball, Athletics.
The Tennis team players Mr. Abhimanyu
Chakrravati, Abhitej Singh Shekhawat and Puneet
Swami won Silver Medal and Ms. Anuradha
Kaswan won Bronze Medal in Discus Throw. The
performance of Volleyball team (M) and Table
Tennis (M) was satisfactory as they played up to
Quarter final.

(Agriunifest-2016) organized by Orissa University
of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar from
1st to 4th February, 2016. The coaching camp was
organized for Inter Agriculture Youth Festival -2016
from 8th to 28th January, 2016.MPUAT team
participated in different events like music, dance,
literary & fine arts. Mr. Lakshya Bhalla won gold
medal in elocution, Ms. Rakshita Chittora and
Lakshya Bhalla won silver medal in debate, Ms.
Akansha Kharkwal won bronze medal in mono
acting and consolation prize to team in group song.
The contingent was led by Sh. Som Shekhar Vyas,
Secretary, USB and Dr. Shalini Pilaniya, Asstt. Prof.
(RCA).
�The Central Students' Union and Directorate
Students' Welfare organized MPUAT Youth Festival
"UTKARSH-2016" from 11th to 13th April, 2016.
The Chief Guest of function was Prof. Uma Shanker
Sharma, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, MPUAT and
Special Guest were Shri Akhilesh Joshi, Former
CEO, Hindusthan Zinc Ltd. and Sh. K.K. Sharma,
Paarshad Nagar Nigam, Udaipur. The fine arts,
literary, music and dance events were organized
during 3 days programme.
�The General Championship of Youth Festival was
won by RCA. On this occasion for the first time
eight merit toppers in 8 branches of Engineering
from CTAE were given fellowship of Rs. 50,000/-
each by the Hindusthan Zinc Ltd., Udaipur. The
prize distribution ceremony of University Games
and Inter-Collegiate Tournament was also held on
13th April, 2016. The General Championship of
Sports Meet was won by CTAE, Udaipur.
