Raje Cricket Centre at 12.00 noon.
The President, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia presided over the meeting.
197 members registered their attendance for the meeting.
Before taking up the meeting agenda, the President requested the house to pay
homage to the members of MPCA who left for their heavenly abode during the last year, as
listed under –
i. Late Shri Noshirwan Godrej (Played for the state)
ii. Late Shri K.K.Shah,
iii. Late Shri Ravi Borgaonkar,
iv. Late Shri Mahendra Mahajan and
v. Late Shri Mahendra Kumar Badjatya
Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia extended a warm welcome to the members and spoke
about the attainments of MPCA during the last year.
The President expressed his sincere thanks to Shri Dilip Chudgar, immediate past CEO
of MPCA, for his yeomen services towards the administration of MPCA in an effective and
efficient manner during his tenure as a CEO. He also informed the house about the newly
appointed CEO, Shri Rohit D. Pandit.
The President further appreciated the performance and achievements of MPCA junior
teams and congratulated the players and the team officials. He expressed that our Senior
team (Ranji team) was unfortunate not to reach the semi-finals, as most of the matches in
which our team was well placed were curtailed / abandoned due to rains.
Naman Ojha, Mohnish Mishra and Harpreet Singh were our star achievers for the
session 2009-10. Naman is the first player from the state to represent India in a T-20

International match. Naman, Mohnish and Harpreet played in IPL-III. Mohnish also
represented Central Zone in the Duleep & Deodhar Trophy Tournaments.
The President congratulated the organizing committee and the Gwalior Divisional
Cricket Association for the successful conduct of the One Day International match between
India and South Africa, played at Gwalior on 24-2-2010. He praised the efforts and
contribution on part of the organizing committee members for their tireless work citing that
the match was allotted at a very short notice. Creating a place in history of ODI, this match
provided amazing entertainment to the spectators when Sachin Tendulkar became the first
cricketer to score a double hundred in ODI. Thus, MPCA is goldenly associated with two
landmarks in Sachin’s playing career – First when he scored his ten thousandth ODI run at
Indore (2001), the second being his double century in ODI played at Gwalior (2010).
Speaking about the MPCA cricket stadium in Indore, he proudly informed the house
about the praises that are showered on MPCA management for constructing one of the best
cricket stadiums in India and that too with the least costs involved. The construction of the
administrative building is on and would be completed in the next year.
The President recommended to the house about the proposal of the Managing
Committee, that in light of the contribution from the great Holkar cricketers and the
patronage of the family, the MPCA Cricket Stadium should be christened as ‘HOLKAR
STADIUM’.
The President also referred to the Managing Committee's proposal to form a committee
under the Chairmanship of Prof. Chaturvedi to consider the matter of naming the pavilion,
dressing rooms, porticos, various gates etc., in the honour of our cricketers and
administrators who have contributed towards the development of MPCA.
The house unanimously approved the two proposals.
The President mentioned about his vision for the development of cricket in MP, which,
in a nutshell, revolves around strong talent scouting systems, contemporary coaching, a
professional work environment and continuous infrastructure development.
He appreciated the efforts on part of the management for the journey to achieve the
desired structure which is essential to execute the vision towards fulfillment of
organizational goals.
10
The President mentioned about the highlights of the budget, and one of the salient
feature, which is in line with our vision and a part of our players development process, is the
tour of our team to Australia to compete in practice matches, engage in contemporary
training etc. It is imperative for us to provide such kind of exposure to our players ahead of
the Indian domestic cricket season. The members appreciated the concept and extended
best wishes to the team.
In respect of creating infrastructure at the divisional level, he informed the house that
MPCA has purchased land for cricket grounds at Sagar & Jabalpur and efforts are being
made to procure land at Gwalior & Ujjain. In this regard, he has also pursued with the State
Government for allocation of land in Indore. The Committee has proposed to allocate, to
begin with, a fund of Rs.10 crores for this purpose during this financial year.
The President further referred to the ultra-modern fitness equipment that we have
purchased for our Gymnasium, which are worth Rs. 75 Lacs (approx.). With this addition,
ours could be one of the best available gymnasiums in India. In the near future, an additional
gymnasium will be set up for our Life Members.
Concluding his Presidential address, he referred to an article, published in one of the
leading dailies- The Hindu, that praised the efforts of MPCA for its human resource
development process
Thereafter, Shri S.C. Malhotra, speaking on behalf of the Holkar family, reminisced the
early days of the association and said that after a long journey the association has now
reached a respected stage due to the efforts from all members of the association. He
appreciated the infrastructure development work undertaken by MPCA, congratulated and
expressed his confidence in the current management team, which in his opinion should be
allowed to continue with its stellar work and contribution.
He also expressed thanks on behalf of the Holkar family for the love and affection
bestowed upon the Holkars by naming the stadium in memory of Holkar cricketers and the
family.
Thereafter the agenda was taken up for discussions.
1. To confirm the Minutes of the Last Annual General Body Meeting held on 17th
August 2009.
The minutes of the meeting were confirmed, as proposed by Shri Milind Kanmadikar
and seconded by Shri Vijay Nayudu.
11
2. Adoption of annual report of 2009-2010
Praising the compilation of information, the house adopted the annual report, as
proposed by Shri Kamal Shrivastava and seconded by Shri S. Gulrez Ali.
3. Consideration and approval of audited statement of accounts for the year
2009-2010
Shri Kamal Shrivastava raised the issue about Indore being sidelined and Gwalior
receiving extra attention. Also the issue about the rotation of ODI matches between
Indore and Gwalior was raised.
On this, the Chairman specified that the rotation of matches is as per the tradition and is
in place for last many years.
The President condemned this negative line of thought and assured the house that this
is MPCA and not a Divisional Association. Each Division must be cared for and he has
never thought of a preferential attitude towards or against any of the Divisional Cricket
Associations.
MPCA has created one of the best cricket stadiums in India in a sum of forty crores, and
that is in Indore. On the other hand, the stadium at Gwalior is a thirty year old
depreciated asset which needs regular investment for its maintenance.
The luxurious gymnasium is in Indore. The cricket academy is established in Indore.
Even if one goes to the extent of equating the strength of membership from these two
cities, Gwalior has only two life members while Indore has almost one hundred and
ninety.
As a matter of fact, if there has been any kind of favouritism, it is in favour of Indore and
that he is proud to be associated with this line of action as Indore is the seed of
cricketing history in Madhya Pradesh.
He has always taken efforts to ensure the emergence of Indore as one of the best
cricketing centres, harkening back to its old glory.
The populous auditorium echoed his views and expressed appreciation over his fair
management.
12
Next, the General body, being satisfied with the President’s elucidation on certain other
queries raised by the members, unanimously approved the audited statement of
accounts for the year 2009-2010, as proposed by Shri Subhash Bais and seconded by
Ms. Chandra Nayudu.
4. To consider and approve the proposed annual budget for the year 2010-2011
The proposed annual budget for the year 2010-2011 was approved unanimously, as
proposed by Shri Bhagwandas Suthar and seconded by Shri Sanjeev Rao.
5. Appointment of Auditors for 2010-2011
M/s Anil Kamal Garg & Co. Chartered Accountants, were appointed as the auditors for
the year 2010-11, as proposed by Shri Dilip Chudgar and seconded by Shri Rajendra
Rajguru.
6. Election of Office Bearers and members of the Managing Committee
On this agenda, Justice P.D. Mulye requested permission from the President to allow
him to express his thoughts, which was granted. Justice Mulye put forward his views
that the current management team has done a tremendous job for cricket in MP, and
must continue unanimously so as to carry on their wonderful work.
Thereafter, Prof. Chaturvedi addressed the house.
After this, Justice P.D. Mulye proposed the name of Shri. Jyotiraditya M Scindia for the

2010-11 was a tumultuous year for Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. A year which
started with the first ever 'elections', also had plethora of off the field activities as well as some
very good performances by the players, particularly the senior team, which not only finished as
runners up in the T20 tournament but also qualified for the elite group of the Ranji Trophy. The
year also marked the arrival of the Indian Premier League to the state.
I would start by remembering those who are no more with us. I mourn the untimely
demise of our former Vice President Dr. Shafquat Mohammad Khan who served the
Association with great dedication and distinction. I also remember our life members - Shri
Dwarkadas Mangal, Shri Jagdish R Patel, Dr. R.S. Gokhale and Shri Vinayak Dattatray Bederkar
whose demise has left us shocked. I also pray for all the cricketers and eminent personalities
who left us for heavenly abode during the last year.
Ranji Trophy : It was a heart warming performance by the senior lads of Madhya Pradesh
who fought their way back to the Elite Group through some excellent performances. In fact our
team could have made it to the semi final of the Ranji Trophy had it not been for one bad period
of play against Karnataka.
Placed in Plate Group 'A', MP started the season with a draw against Goa. The bowlers
struggled to bowl out Goa in the second innings and the match ended in a draw. In the second
match M.P. defeated Tripura by an innings and 156 runs. Fast bowler T Sudhindra (with a match
haul of 10 wickets) and Naman Ojha-Mohnish Mishra (with centuries) contributed
handsomely. Rain played the spoilsport against Rajasthan in the third match. Rajasthan made a
huge score of 523 which MP looked like chasing down when time ran away. Veterans Abbas Ali
and Bundela scored centuries while Jalaj Saxena missed his ton by 4 runs. Amit Sharma had
his first five wicket haul in only his second match.
MP needed an outright victory against Jharkhand to keep their chances of qualifying alive,
This, they achieved through the fast bowling trio of Sudhindra, Amit Sharma and Anand
Rajan.Rajan contributed with the bat too, scoring 84 as night watchman in a 186 run stand with
Bundela (145). The match against Hyderabad was also affected by rain and was undecided. In
the time available, Mohnish Mishra (214) and Bundela (121) shared a partnership of 201 runs.
MP qualified for the knock out (thus securing a place in next year's Elite Group) of the
Ranji Trophy, after beating Andhra by 9 wickets in the plate semi final largely through Harpreet
Singh Bhatia's maiden first class hundred and the bowling effort of Anand Rajan. Naman Ojha
ANNUAL REPORT 2010-11
17
(102 n.o) and Mohnish Mishra ( 75 n.o.) contributed in the second innings chase. In the quarter
final, MP had a home tie against fancied Karnataka and started well but a sudden collapse saw
them slide from 89 for 1 to 125 for 6 on day one. MP lads still made Karnataka fight every inch,
eventually losing by 5 wickets.
The efforts of the team need to be praised. Skipper Devendra Bundela, who became the
first player from MP to get three consecutive hundreds, led from the front. Naman Ojha (625
runs) and Mohnish Mishra (602 runs) also contributed with the willow. In the bowling
department T.Sudhindra (25 wkts), Amit Sharma (18 wkts ) and Anand Rajan (21 wkts ) took
the responsibility. Ankit Sharma and Harpreet Singh Bhatia too showed glimpses of their
immense talent.
T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy : The seniors performed admirably to finish runners up in
this tournament losing to Bengal by just one run in an exciting final. We started by defeating
Uttar Pradesh by 5 wickets chasing down 186 runs after losing three wickets for 19 runs. This
match was followed by an exciting tie against Vidarbha, which resulted in the one over
eliminator being played, which we lost. We then defeated Rajasthan by 66 runs and Railways by
9 wickets to qualify for the knock out. In the quarter final MP beat Orissa by 8 wickets.
The semi final match was exciting. MP crossed Haryana's low score of 115 off the
penultimate ball with two wickets in hand. MP required just 12 runs in the last three overs with
5 wickets in hand but made heavy weather of it. The story was repeated in the finals but the
result reversed. Chasing Bengal's 142 we needed 12 runs of the last 9 deliveries but could get
only ten and lost by just one run. It was a great effort by the boys. Harpreet Singh ( 202 runs),
Murtuza Ali and Mohnish Mishra (164 runs each) with the bat and T. Sudhindra and Anand
Rajan (14 wickets each) with the ball were the main contributors.
Vijay Hazare Trophy One Day Tournament : Much was expected of our one day team after
last years performance, but the team could not get its bearings consistently. The boys lost to
Vidarbha by 8 wickets in the opening match and to UP by 3 wickets in the last match. In
between we defeated Railways by 7 wickets and Rajasthan by 105 runs. But the loss against
Vidarbha in the first match hurt us the most. From 115 for 1 in 22 overs, MP collapsed to 157 all
out in 39 overs.Young Udit Birla however played well and followed up with a good innings in the
Deodhar Trophy.
U-22 C.K.Nayudu Trophy : The immediate supply line of M.P. cricket had a disappointing
season. We managed to get just two points from the four matches we played. We lost to Baroda
and Tamil Nadu and just about managed to draw against Saurashtra and Punjab. The bowlers
18
conceded more than 400 runs against Saurashtra, Punjab and Baroda while the batsmen
struggled to get 300 runs in any innings except one inconsequential effort against Punjab. Of
the bowlers Ishwar Pandey and Asif Ali had one five wicket haul each. Himalay Sagar, Anand
Singh and Varunesh Sharma got individual hundreds. But as a team, the performance was
below expectations.
U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy : Playing in Elite Group, the Madhya Pradesh boys faced tough
opponents in all the matches they played. They started the campaign against Punjab and
conceded the lead to them despite scoring 363 for 6 declared. Vikrant Singh played a marathon
innings of 176 n.o. and Avnish Dhaliwal scored 96. In reply Punjab managed to get a lead of just
one run. The next match was against Jharkhand. In a low scoring match MP scored 114 and 94
while Jharkhand made 105 and 107 for 6, to win by four wickets. Tanmay Patwardhan took 5
wickets in first innings but lost the steam in the second. The next match was against strong
Tamil Nadu who beat us convincingly by 171 runs. Avnish Dhaliwal's century in the second
innings was the only saving grace for our team. Tanmay Patwardhan again bowled his heart out
claiming 10 wickets in the match for just 92 runs.
We required the first innings points against Bengal to stay in the elite group which we
managed to get. Bengal made 438 and our team replied strongly with 545 for 5. Avnish
Dhaliwal and Shubham Sharma scored big centuries in a partnership of 297 runs. We thus
managed to keep our place in the elite group, but considering the talent in the team, we could
have performed much better. Barring Avnish Dhaliwal (368 runs) and Tanmay Patwardhan (19
wickets), the rest of the performances were below par.
U-19 One Day Vinoo Mankad Trophy : The Central Zone League phase of this tournament
was hosted by MPCA at Indore. MP qualified for the knock out after a gap of few years. We
started badly against Rajasthan losing by 7 wickets in a one sided match. We improved our
performance in the next match, defeating Vidarbha by 4 wickets, followed by an excellent win
against Uttar Pradesh. In the last match MP overwhelmed Railways by 10 wickets to complete
a superb come back.
In the knock out phase played at New Delhi, MP defeated Karnataka by 2 runs in an
exciting quarter final largely due to the efforts of Ashutosh Singh ( 86 n.o.) and the bowlers who
defended a low score of 236. The team ended its campaign with a disappointing performance,
losing to Punjab by 177 runs in the semis. Ashutosh Singh (266 runs), Shubham Sharma (194
runs), Avnish Dhaliwal (162 runs ) and Vikrant Singh (148 runs) came up with some good
performances on the batting front. Ayaan Khan (12 wkts) and Mayank Jain (11 wkts) were the
successful bowlers.
19
U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy : After qualifying for knock out on two successive occasions
the young stars of the state could not find the bearings in the Central Zone league. They
conceded the first innings lead in all the three matches they played, starting with Vidarbha and
followed by Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Shivam Tiwari was the only player who could
contribute. He scored a hundred against Rajasthan and 50's against Uttar Pradesh and
Vidarbha. He also took 9 wickets.
Senior Women's One Day : MP qualified for the knock out, but came up croppers in the
super league stage. In the Zonal League MP defeated Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan but lost to
Railways and Vidarbha. They qualified by virtue of net run rate. In the Super League MP faced
Punjab, Mumbai and Karnataka and lost to all of them. The match against Karnataka was
closely fought. MP failed to chase the target of 198 by just one run. MP required 5 runs in the
last over but could not get them. Varsha Choudhary ( 213 runs ) and Shweta Mishra (179 runs)
were the top run getters while Ranjana Gupta (15 wkts) and Shyla Alam (14 wkts) were
successful with the ball.
Senior Women's T20 : It was almost the repeat of the one day tournament in the zonal
league stage. This time MP defeated Vidarbha and Rajasthan but lost to Railways and Uttar
Pradesh. The net run rate could not help us to qualify. Varsha Choudhary (149 runs) continued
her good performance. Only Ruchita Buley (96 runs) could support her.
Girls U-19 One Day : The young girls of the state could not perform up to expectations.
They started well against Rajasthan but then lost badly against Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha.
Ritika Buley bowled well to take seven wickets.
BCCI Tournaments : The MPCA had the honour of staging two of India's premier
tournaments this year. The N.K.P. Salve Challenger Trophy was held from 8-11 October 2010 at
Indore. India Blue, India Red and India Green participated in the event. Some of India's best
young talent played in the tournament. India Blue defeated India Green by 140 runs to win the
final and championship.
The knock out phase of Vijay Hazare Trophy One day Tournament was held from 25 Feb to
1 March 2011, also at Indore. It threw up many astonishing results with Jharkhand surprising
one and all to clinch the crown beating Gujarat. Vidarbha also played well before falling to
Jharkhand in the semi final. MPCA took the initiative of organizing the final under lights. As a
special gesture, we also gave a special prize of Rs 25000- to the man of the match Shadab
Nadeem for his match winning performance.
Indore also hosted the U-19 One day Central Zone league. We also hosted the matches of
20
other BCCI tournaments, which are allotted on home and away basis. These matches were
played at Indore, Rewa and Gwalior.
IPL Matches : Indore played home venue to the Kochi Tuskers Kerala , bringing the IPL to
the state with all its razmattaz. Their was huge interest in the state for the colourful event. Kings
XI Punjab beat Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the first match while Kochi Tuskers Kerala triumphed
over Rajasthan Royals in the second match. The event was a great success. The team
franchisee expressed their pleasure with the efforts of the association in making the two games
successful. We hope that our association with the franchisee continues in the years to come.
Land Development : The development work of the ground at Sagar is in full swing and the
ground has begun to take shape. The division staged Inter Divisional matches on the newly laid
turf. The pitch was found to be perfect by the players as well as the match observers. Work on
laying turf on the outfield will be taken up soon. MPCA is making efforts to purchase land for
other divisions also. Meanwhile, Jabalpur's Ranital Ground has received BCCI approval for
organizing BCCI matches and we have allotted two matches to them for the season 2011-12.
Raw Talent Scouting Camp : In an effort to find the best of talent available in the state,
particularly in the remote areas, MPCA organized talent scouting camps in all the divisions. The
motive behind this initiative is to enhance our scope to small places and to ensure that the best
of talent is not deprived because of lack of oppurtunities or for want of facilities. Our talent
scouts led by Shri Vijay Nayudu, Shri Sanjay Jagdale, Shri Amay Khurasiya, Shri Mukesh
Sahani, Shri Nitin Kulkarni, Shri Sunil Lahore, Shri Rajeev Dua, Shri Vinod Narang and others
went from place to place in search of raw talent for over two months and finally shortlisted
about 25 boys. Some of the boys have been invited to the residential academy and will be
admitted, subject to their parents consent. Some other boys have been entrusted to the
divisions for continuous training. We are sure that with proper nurturing, some of these boys
will be the champions of tomorrow.
MPCA Residential Academy : The functioning of our academy at Indore has already been
streamlined under the able guidance of chief coach Amay Khurasiya. Now, a residential
academy for talented cricketers is proposed in the ensuing months. The main objective behind
the concept is to upgrade the skills of the potentially talented cricketers in the state and extend
regular mentoring facility so that the players blossom at the right age. This will also provide
competitive exposure to the talented youngsters and augment their development process. The
scheme also aims to enhance the performance of the cricketers to continue their school /
college studies along with the cricketing lessons. The expenses towards providing the
education will also be borne by MPCA.
21
The academy will provide sustained training to budding cricketers and will also take care
of their nurturing, to shape them as responsible citizens. This will give the players an
opportunity to sharpen their skills under watchful eyes of reputed cricket coaches and support
staff, who shall utilise the most up-to-date methods and contemporary techniques of cricket
coaching and other related aspects. We hope that this endeavour of ours will make available a
wide-range pool of talented cricketers who can act as buffer for the various teams of MPCA.
The finer details of this academy have already been worked out. A player selected under
the scheme shall be provided with regular cricket coaching, systematic fitness management,
specific nutrition, regular health check up, schooling and purposeful recreation. The cost of all
the above activities shall be borne by MPCA. 18 boys from the state will be provided the hostel
facilities. The project will cost MPCA approx Rs. 50 lacs per year.
Gymnasium and Recreation Facilities for Members : The association dedicated one
gymnasium with state of the art equipments exclusively for our honorable members. A billiards
table, two table tennis tables, and two carrom boards have also been put up in the recreation
room for the use of members and cricketers attending camps. The facilities were inaugurated
by our President Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia in the presence of former world table tennis
champion Peter Karlson and former Indian table tennis stars Kamlesh Mehta, Jayesh Acharya
and Rinku Acharya.
Gymnasium for Players : The gymnasium for players has been refurbished with state of
the art equipment costing Rs 90 lacs. Out of these, equipments worth Rs. 20 lacs are based
upon pneumatic system. MPCA is probably the only association in the country to provide this
type of equipment to its players.
Awards & Accolades : MPCA honored its achievers of the season 2010-11 in a simple, yet
graceful ceremony on 4th April 2011. Our Men's Senior, Boys U-19 and Women's senior team
were rewarded for their consistent performance in the BCCI tournaments during the season
2010-11. The Senior Team was presented with a prize of Rs 7.5 lacs for getting elevated to the
elite group and Rs 2.50 lacs for finishing runners up in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20
tournament. The U-19 team were awarded Rs 2.00 lacs for maintaining a place in the the elite
group and an equal amount for qualifying for the semi final of U-19 one dayers. The women's
team were presented Rs 85000/- for qualifying for the knock out phase.
A special award of excellence (Rs 50000/-) was given to Devendra Bundela on becoming
the first MP cricketer to play in more than 100 first class games and scoring maximum runs for
our team. T. Sudhindra was awarded the prize for the best senior cricketer for 2010-11, while
22
Avnish Dhaliwal got the prize as the best junior cricketer 2010-11. Both of them got the Late
Madhavrao Scindia award, a cash prize of Rs 25000- each.
The association also felicitated Shri Sudhir Asnani on 2nd July 2011 for his elevation to
ICC's International panel of umpires.
Roll of Honour : The roll of honour was unveiled by our President Shri Jyotiraditya M
Scindia on 2nd July 2011. The names of the players from the state who have played more than
75 Ranji matches, our International Umpires, MPCA Presidents and MPCA Hon. Secretaries,
are displayed with pride.
Preparatory Tours : The association organized overseas tours to give exposure to our
cricketers. The Ranji team was sent to Australia last year and performed admirably. We played a
total of six matches including One Day, T20 and Two Day matches against local sides in
Canberra and Sydney. The team maintained an unbeaten record winning all the six matches it
played. Mohnish Mishra and Anand Singh scored individual hundreds.
The U-19 cricketers undertook a four week tour of Sri Lanka from 9th May to 6 June 2011.
Our team played 6 limited over matches and 3 four-day games against the Sri Lankan
counterparts. It is important to note that our boy's played against the best talent short listed by
Cricket Sri Lanka as a part of their process to select National side for the forthcoming U-19
World Cup. This suggests the quality of competitors that our boys played to sharpen their
skills. Our team performed exceedingly well in all the matches and we won 5 out of the 6 limited
over games and won all the three multi day games. Some of the players were even invited to
play in Sri Lanka for local clubs. Shubham Sharma and Tanmay Patwardhan gave some sterling
performances, while one of Shantanu Triparthi's innings also came in for praise. These
consistent performance will definitely help to boost the morale of our team and act as a catalyst
in the process of players development.
The U-16 team has undertaken a tour of United Kingdom in July-Aug 2011 as a
continuation of our policy. We played eight matches and won five of them. Players got
experience to play against alien opponents in tough climatic conditions. This exposure at an
early stage should help them attain considerable maturity to face the tougher tasks ahead.
Besides these tours, our exchange programmes with other states continue. Our U-16 team
played against Maharashtra in Maharashtra and against Mumbai in Mumbai. The U-19 team
played against Maharashtra at home and played against an Australian Academy team at Jaipur.
Our U-22 team played in ACA invitation tournament at Anantpur finishing runners up. The U-22
side also played against Chattisgarh at Home and in a tournament at Mumbai. The senior team
23
played in the Buchi Babu tournament at Chennai. Our women's team played five one day
matches against Mumbai at Gwalior. It is also proposed to send the senior team to Sri Lanka
very soon. We hope that the players will benefit from playing in different environments against
varied opposition.
Benevolence Scheme : In order to honour the players and umpires for their contribution
to cricket in the state, the association has initiated a benevolent payment scheme for them.
Those who are not getting any help from the BCCI get the benefit of our initiative. The players
who have represented the state in Ranji Trophy will be offered Rs 3000, Rs 5000 and Rs 7000
per month based on the number of matches played by them. State panel umpires will get Rs
3000 per month while BCCI panel umpires will get Rs 5000 per month after they retire from
umpiring upon reaching the stipulated age.
Initiative for U-14 Tournament : The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association has taken the
lead for organizing a tournament for U-14 for teams from Central Zone. The first such
tournament will be organized by us and will consist of two day matches with a final played over
three days. Our proposal, that this tournament should be organized on rotation basis by the
states has been agreed by all. Apart from our team, Rajasthan, Vidarbha and Uttar Pradesh will
participate in the tournament. The tournament will be named after Late Shri Raj Singh
Dungarpur as a tribute to the great personality.
Incentive Scheme for Divisions : We have launched a comprehensive scheme for
incentive to affiliated divisions based on their activities. Points will be awarded on different
parameters like performance of teams/players, financial management, timely submission of
information and other aspects. We hope that this will help in streamlining the activities of the
divisions as also create a competitive atmosphere amongst them.
Naming Ceremony : Our stadium at Indore was christened as Holkar Stadium on the 10th
October 2010. The unveiling of the new name took place at the august hands of our President
Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia and Indian star Yuvraj Singh in presence of honorable members of
the association. We acknowledge the huge contribution of the Holkars in shaping the game in
the Madhya Pradesh. The name of Holkars is synonymous with the game in the state and we
have proudly shunned the option of taking the commercial route in this matter. We are also
planning to honour other eminent cricketers of the state by naming various stands and other
properties at the stadium after them.

before the tournaments. MPCA hosted a month long NCA camp for Central Zone women
cricketers. Two seminars ( one for seniors and one for juniors) on anti doping procedures was
organized for cricketers to educate them on the doping menance. Both these seminars were
organized under the expertise of Dr Vece Paes. A two day level “O” course was conducted for
trainers and two trainers were recommended for NCA course. MPCA also conducted a two day
seminar for our umpires and short listed 25 candidates for appearing in BCCI Level One course
to be held shortly. The umpiring course was conducted by BCCI educators Rajiv Risodkar,
Sudhir Asnani and Sanjeev Dua with help from Nikhil Patwardhan and Nitin Menon.
Inter Divisional Tournaments : The Inter Divisional Tournaments were conducted as
usual and once again threw different winners in different categories proving how the game is
spreading in the state. Indore Division emerged winners in three categories but Rewa Bhopal,
Jabalpur and Gwalior, too made their presence felt. For the first time ever, MPCA deputed match

aspects. The women's tournament saw increased participation this year, with almost all
