Acrylic stone has revolutionised

the industrial sector o

urnishings and architecture

since it entered the market in

1967. This is because it has the

same qualities as suraces in

natural stone but without the

typical deects o other synthetic

or semi synthetic materials, and

with the added advantage obeing produced in any orm or

carved as i it were wood. Acrylic

stone is a composite material

belonging to the category o

solid suraces, non absorbent

and non porous. It is made o

about two thirds aluminium

hydroxide obtained rom bauxite,

and a third o high quality acrylic

Polymethyl Methacrylate and

sometimes a small quality o

coloured pigments. Among its

many qualities, acrylic stone is

resistant to everyday wear and

tear and also to direct sunlight,

maintaining its colour well over

the years. Long-lasting, scratch

resistant and suitable or a

variety o indoor and outdoor

applications.

Ecology

The composition, based on minerals and

acrylic, involves a minimal use o natural

resources, a low waste production, and is

an overall eco riendly material.

Uniform

The invisible joins make it completely

seamless, no matter the shape.

Hygienic

A non toxic material and has no suraceacting agents. The non-porous surace

and seamless joins is also available in

specially treated antibacterial grades or

specialised installations. Ponte Giulio

preers creating designs with smooth

corners to acilitate cleaning.

Long lasting

Normal cleaning requires water, a drop o

washing up liquid and a cloth. Scratches

can be rubbed away with a Scotch Brite

pad or ne sanding paper.

Resistant

Resists most chemical exposure and

UV light, maintaining the colours well.

Guarantees an excellent mechanical and

chemical resistance to the most common

chemical agents.

Repairs

Scratches or more extensively damaged

sections, caused by improper use, can be

repaired on site or in the company.

Acrylic stone products, both domestic and

proessional, resist most chemical and mechanical

exposure very well. However, as with all materials,

care and a correct, regular cleaning plan is

needed to ensure our products remain in perect

condition.

Acrylic stone is non-porous and thereore doesnot absorb any liquid with which it comes into

contact. Normal clearing requires water, a drop

o domestic cleaning uid and a damp cloth.

Persistent stains can be rubbed out using a Scotch-

Brite pad and an abrasive clearing liquid. Once

a week you should ll the basin with hot water

and add 1 or 2 teaspoons o liquid bleach, leaving

it or an hour or so beore emptying, rinsing and

drying. It is important to remember that bleach

can discolour the product i it is not completely

removed, so ater doing this you need to rinse with

plenty o water. In conclusion, a variety o damage

can occur as a result o diverse incidents over

the course o time, and or which it is difcult todetermine a case study beore hand. It is thereore

important to underline the intrinsic nature o

acrylic stone, that enables it to be repaired with a

ew simple operations by anyone. Special repairs

by a qualied technician would only be needed in

exceptional cases.

Many companies oer acrylic

stone products today, each

choosing their own market name

to dierentiate themselves rom

the others. However, although

many characteristics o this

prime material remain the same,

there are some dierences

between the producers, thus

making the products original.It is or this reason that we

would like to briey summarize

and clariy the technical

inormation regarding the acrylic

stone products by LG Hausys,

predominantly used by Ponte

Giulio. This is useul both or the

designer and when choosing a

particular colour.

Generally speaking, or all

products o any brand, we have

to start by pointing out that slabs

darker in colour tend to be more

delicate, and thereore are more

suited to suraces that will be

subjected to less wear and tear.

This aspect is understandable

as there is a higher percentage

o natural pigments used in

darker tones that make thematerial harder. It is important to

remember that it isnt possible

to combine stones rom dierent

producers, nor rom collections

by the same producer.

Technical characteristics

LG Hausys Hi-Macs

Ponte Giulio has selected two typologies: Lucent and Solids rom the Hi-

Macs range by LG Hausys.

The rst is a collection, limited to our colours at the moment, and characterized

by a translucent body that increases the transparent and pastel efect created

by a strong stage impression. The Solids collection ofers a chromatic range,

rom extravagant to classic to current trends, which can be adapted to suit every

need.

Suggested colours or suraces that are subjected to minor wear and tearBlack, Cofee brown, Banana, Orange, Flery red, Concrete green, Jasmine green

and Tofee brown.
