• To create a new account select the option to “Create a new account”. (Shown below)

Next you will be prompted to use an existing account or create a new one. Select the option to use an existing account.

• On the Mail Account Set-up window, enter your full name, United Communications email address and password in the appropriate fields.

• Click Continue

• You won’t be able to connect, so select the button for “Manual Config”

• After selecting the option for “Manual Config” you should see the window below.

• For the incoming mail section on the Mail Account Setup window enter: mail.united.net

• Note: The ports will automatically set to the appropriate ports: port 143 for IMAP, 110 for POP and 25 SMTP.

• SSL None

• Set the Authentication type to Normal password.

• For the outgoing mail section on the Mail Account Setup window:

• Double click the SMTP Server hostname field and enter smtp.united.net

• SSL None

• Set the authentication type to Normal password.

• Enter your United Communication’s email address for username.

• Click Done.

• After selecting done you should see a window that looks like this one below.

After completing these steps you should be able to send and receive email through Mozilla Thunderbird. If you can

not send and receive email, contact United Communications Technical Support at 800-779-2227
