2Overview Gods love:Why? How? Experiencing Loving Himmomentum
How to show Gods love
To be loved by God is one of the greatest miracles ever to be experienced! Yet, the human mind cannot completely comprehend why God loves us.
This is because the why of Gods love cannot be explained rationally.God loves you or Jesus loves you must be the favourite and most repeated statements in the Christian environment. You will find it on stickers, cards and websites all over. But, have you ever wondered what you would answer if someone responded to this statement with the question, Why does God love me?To make it even more personal, have you ever asked yourself this question? We will look at this today, but please know that ultimately Gods love is meant to be experienced rather than understood. No one can really explain the love of God, but all can experience it!
We enjoy the benefits of many things without understanding how they work, or trying to figure out how they work before enjoying them. Just think of radio and the internet.Firstly, lets qualify again what we mean by love in this context.
Agape godly loveSelfless, sacrificial, unconditional the highest form of all love. Main points1. Agape the God-kind of loveWhen we talk about Gods love, it is important to distinguish between godly love (the Greek word agape) and the love we refer to in everyday life.Beware of love being cheapened in our modern society by confusing it with a strong liking or attraction (for example falling in love or falling out of love). There is a special kind of love in families between parents, children and siblings. Then there is the intimate love between a man and a woman. Furthermore, there is a special and different love between best friends. All these types of love are real, and the reasons why we love in all these ways are different, but Gods agape love is way above them all.His love can be described and defined as follows:Agape is selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love the highest of the four types of love. This Greek word for love is by far the one that appears most frequently in the New Testament. It is, generally assumed to mean moral goodwill which proceeds from esteem, principle, or duty, rather than attraction or charm [it] means to love the undeserving, despite disappointment and rejection Agape has more to do with moral principle than with inclination or liking Agape love is love by Divine will and choice. This is the kind of love God has for you! It is love in spite of not because of.
Creation love 2. Creation loveGods creation is breathtaking from the stars
and animals, speaks of His splendour. 10
Yet, the crown of His creation, His masterpiece, is you!
You were not only created by God, you were also created in His image:
11Genesis 1:26 (TNIV) Then God said, Let us make human beings in our image, in our likeness
Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness Genesis 1:26 (NIV)Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.Genesis 2:7 (TNIV)
When it refers to us being made in His image, it is not with regard to physical image. 13
We are created in His image The ability to think, make decisions and loveIt relates to the unique abilities we have to reason, make decisions and love things no other part of His creation can do.Creating something brings a unique sense of ownership and love. Thats how God feels about you (Psalm 139).He loves you because He made you. He made you in His image uniquely and masterfully. When He looks at you He sees something of Himself, just as parents see something of themselves in their child. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.John 3:16 (NIV)
The nature and heart of GOD3. The nature and heart of GodLove is not something God does, it is who He is. It is His nature. His doing flows out of His being. God is love.
151 John 4:16 (NIV) And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. 1 John 4:16 (NIV)
There is no rational reason why God should love us as we are. The Bible makes it clear that the heart of man is desperately wicked and deceitful and beyond cure (Jeremiah 17:9).The wonderful image He created us in, has been marred by sin and rebellion. Yet, even when we are doing our own thing, He loves us (Romans 3:23).He does this because it is His nature to love. That is who He is, and therefore, what He does. Finally, He loves you because He wants you to know Him.He knows you individually and loves you personally.
Responding to GODs loveWhat will you do with GODs love?4. Responding to Gods loveWhat does the knowledge of why God loves you do for you?Now that you know why God loves you, what will you do with this knowledge? How will you respond differently to the words Jesus loves you?The easiest answer is to receive His love.Remember that love is a matter of the heart. It is very difficult to explain it with the rational mind. This is the whole purpose behind love it defies understanding and calls for a response from the heart!ApplicationThe love of Jesus is real. He says to every heart, I made you and I love you! What will you do with Gods love?

I suggest you put all doubt and all other things that question why He would love you aside and say, Lord, thank You for loving me. I open my heart to You and Your love today!
