On-site Testing Kits for Our CommunitiesTo stay ahead of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have secured on-site testing kits through our partnership with two private labs. In addition to symptom screening residents twice a day and our employees when they arrive for work, we can now administer testing to residents or employees that show symptoms. And results are known within 24-48 hours.
Other Steps to Protect and Support our Residents:
• Ongoing Preventive Measures: We are closely monitoring and implementing CDC and federal, state and local Coronavirus (COVID-19) guidelines for health and safety.
• Connective Technology: Our partnership with Caremerge assures families and residents stay digitally connected and informed about their loved ones’ ongoing care and wellness.
• EmpowerMe Wellness Therapy Continues: Important physical, occupational and speech therapy services have been adjusted using in-room therapy and social distancing practices.
• Caring, Supportive Staff: We are fortunate to have ample resources and dedicated employees. Our Cedarhurst Response Team vigilantly monitors the safety of our communities around the clock.
If you have questions, we’re always here to help. Just call for more information.

John Badman | The TelegraphIn these days of stay-at-home orders, eveybody needs some fresh air once in a while — even dogs. This one popped his head up through the sun roof of a vehicle in the 300 block of East Broadway in Alton on Wednesday as he waited for his owner to pick up a food order at a restaurant.

WOOD RIVER — Thousands of pieces of personal protective equip-ment (PPE) continue to arrive in Madison County for distribution to hospitals, healthcare facilities and long-term care facilities.
The Illinois National Guard also continues to provide two members housed at the Madison County Emer-gency Management Agency.
“Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is coordinating the counts for ventilators, ICU beds and other hospital capacity needs to help local health departments focus on the direct response and collectively obtain necessary equipment,” stated Madi-son County Health Department Direc-tor Toni Corona. “The two Illinois National Guard soldiers are assisting IDPH with this effort and we are grateful to have them in our county helping with this pandemic response.”
The department continues to lead
the public health emergency response for Madison County, implementing emergency response plans and work-ing with a multiple partners within the county government as well as across other organizations in the county, state and bi-state region.
“I am proud of the leadership of Madison County Health Department to protect our public’s health during this response and the cooperation across county departments to con-tinue to support our residents during this unprecedented time,” said Madi-son County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler.
The Illinois National Guard also was deployed to the county last year to help with the area’s historic flood-ing.
“We are happy to have them back after the fantastic work they did for us last year,” said Prenzler. “The more help we have to keep our resi-dents and first responders safe, the better.”

ALTON — Illinois American Water is ask-ing customers to not approach their employees or contractors working in the field; questions about projects can be addressed by calling 800-422-2782
According to Vice President of Operations Beth Matthews said the company has implement-ed a business continuity plan and provided criti-cal personal protection equipment to protect employees.
“We are doing all we can to protect our col-leagues and customers
while we continue to provide a critical service,” she said. “Unfortunately, we continue to have cus-tomers approach our folks in the field. This presents a safety concern which can be avoided with the public’s help and social distancing.
“The safety of our team is extremely important, so we ask our custom-ers to not approach our employees or contractors when they see them in their neighborhood,” she said.
Customers follow social distancing recommenda-tions issued by the Cen-ters for Disease Control
and Prevention by keep-ing at least 6 feet between themselves and Illinois American Water employ-ees. If there is a question about service, customers can call 800-422-2782. Representatives are avail-able weekdays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Representatives are also available all hours for emergencies.
“Our employees’ safety is a top concern, as is providing quality, reliable service,” said Matthews. “We recognize this is a time of uncertainty and a challenging time, and we thank our dedicated, hard-working teams for rising to this challenge.”
