ART (7–8)Foundational techniques in drawing, creating depth with perspective, shading, and color basics.

COMMUNICATION BY DESIGN (7)Introduction to materials and concepts relating to visual communication. This class supports the M.P.H. Yearbook and Rim Reporter classes.

ELD (6–8)Beginning English language learners practice skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

STEM (6–8)Foster a learning environment in which students produce original ideas, objects, and structures according to certain specifications using concepts and skills from math, science, and technology.Students will work with: • 3D Printing (Design and Print)• Programming (Block and Script)• Robotics (Build and Program)• Video Production and Editing• Drone Flying and Video Production• Graphic Art Design and Animation Creations

BEGINNING BAND (6–8)This is a beginner level band which includes the basic elements of music playing skills, and introduc-tion to band literature. Most beginning band students are learning to play their first musical instrument. Beginning band is considered an exploratory course.

INT/ADV BAND (7–8)Intermediate and advanced music skills and band literature. Recommended exposure to Beginning Band prior to entrance in this course.

CHOIR (7–8)Designed for students to apply musical skills as they continue to create and experience music as a musical ensemble.

ELECTIVES

Our community continues to be a vital component to the success of our MPH mountain lions. We are thankful for the support from MPH PTA, Soropt-omist – Every Girl Counts, San Bernardino County Sheriff, Rim Ed. Foundation, Rim Family Services, Mountain Counseling, Arrowhead Arts, Rotary and the Parents, Guardians and Families of our MPH students for their partnerships with our school. We continue to send bi-weekly community updates via our all call system, and welcome insight as we work collaboratively to provide an exceptional school environment.

• The premise of PBIS is that continual teaching, combined with acknowledgement or feedback of positive student behavior, will reduce unnecessary discipline and promote a climate of greater produc-tivity, safety and engaged learning.

• Lion Loot is the MPH Currency for Incentives and Rewards and Supports Positive Behaviors across the campus and on the busses. All teachers and staff award Lion Loot to students based on students demonstrat-ing improved behaviors and acting Respectfully, Responsibly and Safely at all times on campus.

MPH STUDENTS

*AVID (6–8)The AVID course is an elective class for students who are college bound. Curriculum focuses on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading (WICOR). The mission of AVID is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

*LEADERSHIP/ASB (6–8)Leadership class is a year long course where students act as role models, tutors, and serve the school to promote and advance a positive school environment for all students. Leadership is an activity-based course designed to develop students’ skills in planning, imple-menting, and evaluating school and community projects.

SITE GOALS *RIM REPORTERS (7–8)Promote and communicate the positive Cultural events of the MPH school site, throughout the use of Photography, Graphic Arts, and video.

*YEARBOOK (7–8)Work in a team driven, professional environment to organize, create, and produce the M.P.H. school Annual. This class ties in directly to both the R.H.S. Yearbook Class and the Arts, Media, and Entertain-ment ROP/CTE classes at Rim High.
