The Burney Basin Days Parade, or the “Big” Parade as it is known, will start at the west end of town, at 11 a.m. Saturday. Led by the Veteran’s Honor Guard its grand marshal, honored

guests, queens, bagpipers, floats, horses, and other entries moves along Main Street to the Safeway parking lot to the applause of the crowd-lined street.

The Kiddie Carnival, noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in the back of the parking lot at Angelina’s at the Rex Club.

There will be face paint-ing, The Assembly of God’s “bounce house,” Sierra Pacific’s kids roulette wheel, a bean bag toss, ring the rubber duckies, and sack races.

The Friday Nite Social, scheduled for 6-10 p.m. Fri-day in the parking lot beside Angelina’s at the Rex Club will feature live music, beer, wine and appetizers.

There is no charge for the Rotary Club’s evening of fireworks starts when the gates open on the Burney High School Football field at 5 p.m.

The crowd has a choice of bringing blankets

and lawn chairs or sitting in the bleachers to enjoy a variety of concessions, music by “The Billies” and a pleasant evening.

Fireworks, this year larger and longer than even last year, starts at dark.

The Burney Basin Days Craft Fair, featuring a variety of arts and crafts is featured in the Safeway Parking lot in the

center of town from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

It is a neat place to browse for the unusual and the bar-gain.

The Burney Lions Club’s legendary Chuck Wagon Breakfast fills starved fans from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Satur-day and Sunday on Christmas Tree Lane at the Community Flag Pole. Foods wonderful, price is right.

A favorite in the early days of Burney Basin Days, revived last year, the All-American Bed Race warms up the crowd for the Kiddie and Big Parades Saturday morning.

Racers get ready this year

at the old Exxon Station, next to La Fogata Restaurant in downtown and race each other on a given course down Main Street. The sport is tough, ex-hausting and exciting to watch.

Start time is 10 a.m.

Sunday is the day for rest and relaxation.

After a leisurely pancake breakfast, the fearless, highly skilled, and fun-loving, can head for the Raymond Berry - Burney Pool on Bailey Street for a tough, competitive game of cut-throat horseshoes at 9

a.m.Celebrants can relax and

take part in the crowd pleas-ing, dramatic and exciting Crib-bage Tournament at the Senior Center on Roff Way behind the motels in the Mountain Senior Center recreation room at 1 p.m.

Kicking off Burney Basin Days is the Little Miss Queen Pageant.

A group of lovely young, young ladies will compete for the crown which may well start their beauty pageant careers at 7 p.m., this Wednesday, June 29 at the newly renovat-ed Burney Veterans Hall.

Little Miss Pageant Wednesday

The Burney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5689 plan for their Deep Pit Barbecue all year. The week before the celebration they bring in the firewood and make sure the pit is clean.

They prepare the meat, get the coals ready and spend the night guarding and mak-ing sure the traditional meat is cooked to perfection and ready for the event.

The vets, with the assis-tance of the VFW Auxiliary serve a memorable meal with all the trimmings. It is served from noon to 6 p.m. inside the hall.

Intermountain Artists Inc. is putting together a juried art show in conjunction with Burney Basin days for the first time in several years. Art works will be exhibited on July 1st and July 2nd at the Burney restaurant, Angelina’s at the Rex Club.

Categories include oil/acryl-ics on canvas, water medium, pencil/pen and ink, mixed medium, three dimensional, and photography.

Entry applications may be picked up at the Burney Chamber of Commerce Office.
