o.E. (Original Equipment) which will be a direct replacement, in polished stainless steel, of whatever type of fastener the factory used. Most O.E. fasteners for Harley-Davidsons are socket caps. Therefore, most of the O.E. kits are comprised of socket caps.

Socket Cap kits are offered for most applications where O.E. bolts are not socket caps, so that a more uniform look can be achieved when customizing your Harley. There are afew exceptions such as derby cover bolts where button caps are used for a smoother look.

The grooveTM is a custom socket cap manufactured by Diamond Engineering. You will find a complete line of The GrooveTM fasteners including a wide range of specialty bolts so that you may maintain this look throughout you bike.

12 Point Race ProofTM Fasteners are for the racer or or individual who wants the ultimate in fastener technology.They are manufactured from Custom 450 and 630 stainless and rated at 180,000 PSI (20% Stronger than GR8).

Material choice: Quality starts HereDiamond Engineering specialty fasteners are CNC machined in house using only the best quality materials. Purchased directly from the steel mill two alloys are employed to make the majority of fasteners and components. For items such as spacers and non critical fasteners 303XL alloy is used. A technologically advanced product that allows for superior machinability and holding precision part tolerances. Even before machining starts the tolerances of this material is better than most finished parts on the market today. Improvements of 50% over commercial ASTM standards for straightness and diameter plus perfect machining consistency bar to bar insures quality parts from the first to last piece.

Bolt Head Forming:Diamond Engineering can manufacture a wide variety of head types and styles. Shown here on the left is a 12 point head for a disc brake caliper pad pin being formed on our CNC machine. Shown on the right are parts for the same application but with two different head styles. Manufacturing process:performance & consistant QualityPerformance and consistant quality is what every good company strives for in it’s products. Diamond Engineering reaches these goals and beyond. Manufacturing our products from raw material to finished product in house using modern and hi-tech maching processes we are able to control all aspects of quality. Pictured here is our Mazak CNC Turning Center. All operations including thread rolling and forming of the bolt head can be done on one machine.

High performance applications such as head bolts and brake rotor bolts require material with excellent ductility and high tensile strength. For applications such as these Ugima 630 Stainless was chosen. Even before machining and heat treating this material is tough. In the solution treated/condition A raw bar form, this material has a tensile strength of 145-170 ksi tensile. To compare this, grade 8 bolts are 150 ksi tensile after heat treating. This material is already as strong or stronger before machining! After all machining operations are completed 630 stainless can be heat treated to a variety of conditions. Depending on application demands an ultimate tensile strength of up to 190 ksi tensile (25% stronger than GR8) can be achieved.

wrenching intergrity:Standard fasteners, especially button caps have shallow allen key holes that lead to “rounding out” of the hex over time even using proper tightening specifications. All specialty socket style fasteners produced by Diamond Engineering are broached deeper than the ANSI/ASME standard calls for. For example the button cap style head bolts we manufacture has a key depth 20% deeper than the ANSI/ASME standard. This bolt has a torque specification of 40 lb.ft.. In our first test we were able to achive 115 lb. ft. of torque before falure. What was suprising is the fact that the allen key snapped in half and the bolt was still servicable. In subsequent tests at least 100 lb. ft. of torque was reached before any failure occured. In most cases it was the tool that failed not the internal hex of the bolt. Whether it is a critical engine application or an accessory cover we engineer safety and performance in each fastener we produce.

Thread rolling:Virtually every fastener produced by Diamond Engineering has rolled threads as opposed to cut. Diamond Engineering chooses to use this method for several reasons: increased accuracy, better surface finish, greater tensile, yield and shear strength. When roll threading, you are actually flowing and compressing the grain of the material as opposed to cutting away the grain. By doing this you work harden and burnish the surface. The work hardened flank provides increased surface tensile, yield and shear strength. Due to pressure deformation, a residual compressive stress system builds up at the thread root, which counter-acts tensile loading. When compared to a cut thread, the load capacity of the rolled thread is increased by up to 15%.

surface Finish:The final step after all the engineering, machining and testing is to produce the Best Finish in the industry. Testing equipment like this surface roughness gage is used to insure that a consistent finish is achieved throughout production. By measuring the part surface in millionth’s of an inch, cutting insert wear can be monitored as well as the desired part finish prior to polishing. gaging of Thread:Precision thread rolling means precision gaging.Diamond Engineering uses Tri Roll thread gages to measure all fasteners we produce.This method allows the measurement of full profile, pitch diameter, best wire, minor diameter, major diameter and lead/flank angle with 1/10000” readings.Coventional Go and No-Go gages only tell you if the thread is good or not. You have no idea if you are on the high or low side of the tolerence. Diamond Engineering does not use this type of gaging. We use Tri Roll gages for machine setup and throughout manufacturing to insure consistant quality parts.

Diamond Engineering offers the largest variety of belt sprocket kits in the world. Polished stainless steel thick flat washers are included in every kit with the Groove TMkits featuring our new CNC machined Flange Washers for the ultimate custom look. Custom application Socket Cap kits are engineered for pulley’s with counter bored holes and do not include washers.

New for 2011 is our super clean looking Flange Washers for belt sprocket applications. Our flange washers are precision CNC machined from 303 stainless steel. All washers feature a precision fit hole with an I.D. chamfer to clear the bolt under head radius. We designed these washers with a large edge corner radius to reflect more light. Washers for 12 points are counterbored for the bolt to sit down inside of the washer. Precision machined to an exact depth so that the flanges match giving you a almost seamless and super clean look. For our Groove and Socket cap kits we machined a flat on the washer face the exact diameter of the bolt head so when installed it looks like a one piece flange bolt. With all this we just had to polish each and every one by hand to give you a better than chrome finish that will last forever. One of the most critical areas of any vehicle is the brake system. We have addressed this with our Ultimate Performance banjo bolts. Manufactured by us using only Ugima 630 stainless steel. Each bolt is precision CNC machined and features rolled threads. Rated at 190,000 psi tensile (25% stronger than grade 8) these bolts are tough. The 12 point design will not “round out” even after years of service. For the cleanest look possible we designed the flange with a large radius to follow the curve of the banjo fitting. After all this each bolt is polished by hand to a mirror finish. Guaranteed for life.

Pictured on the left are three pad pins for 2000-07 models. This is the part that your brake pads slide back and forth on. Harley recommends that you replace these each time you do a brake job because they wear and burrs form which will cause your brake pads to stick. When you use Diamond Engineering’s pad pins you never have to worry about this. Our pad pins are precision CNC machined from Ugima 630 stainless steel. Head bolts are available for every Harley engine as well as S&S and all aftermarket manufactures. Four style heads are available enabling you to match your head bolts to your other engine fasteners. We took our designs one step further to give you a cleaner look on S&S engines. Original equipment head bolts from S&S all use a washer, either .100” or .250” in height. They need to do this because of the small flange on their head bolts in contrast to the large flange on the original equipment Harley head bolt which does not use a washer. With a large flange on all of our head bolts we were able to make head bolts for S&S applications that use the .100” washer shorter by the same amount so no washer is needed. Diamond Engineering now offers the worlds largest variety of head bolt covers with twenty two original designs to choose from. Just as with our fasteners we have engineered our head bolt covers to be the best parts you can buy. Other manufacturers make all their head bolt covers a universal fit for Harley and S&S head bolts. This universal fit means that the cover does not fit precisly and they are prone to fall off as you ride down the road. Diamond Engineering head bolt covers are engineered and CNC

machined to exacting tolerences for a perfect fit for both Harley and S&S head bolts. Shown below is the underside of our head bolt covers. You can clearly see the differences between the two head bolt designs. The Harley head bolt has a tapered flange with the S&S having a square flange and square edge washer under it. Besides having the best fit all of our head bolt covers are machined from 303 stainless steel and then individually hand polished to a perfect mirror finish which will last a lifetime.

Motor mount kits are available for all models from 1948 to present. Standard motor mount kits include every nut, bolt and

washer to mount your engine. All fasteners upper, front and rear. Visible or not. For Twin Cam models

the transmission to engine bolts are included. Softail Twin Cam kits

include the three lower front spacers. The GrooveTM kits

have grooved spacers.

Pictured to the left is kit DE5338GP for Touring models 2008-11. Kit includes the visible fasteners for the upper front motor mount bracket to cylinder head and stabilizer link.

Custom motor mount studs that match our head bolt covers will really set your custom ride apart from the rest. They are for use with custom bikes that have a raised gas tank. They replace the bolts for the upper motor mount bracket to cylinder head. Two lengths are available for proper fitment with both steel and the thicker billet aluminum mounts. Nut/washer kits are available in two styles to finish the installation.

Oil pump kits are available for stock Harley applications as well as most aftermarket pumps. Special Edition GrooveTM kits are now available for 1936-78 oil pumps. These kits have the special 1/4-24 thread used by Harley during these years. A Special Edition GrooveTM kit is also available for mounting S&S billet oil pumps on 1936-78 engines.

Point cover kits are available in individual kits or convienelty packaged with a dozen sets per card for motorcycle shops.

Primary cover kits are available for all models from 1936 to present. Our kits for Shovelhead and Evolution models also include the two visible inner primary bolts to be the most complete available today. Special side cover washers are included in all O.E. and GrooveTM kits.

Shock kits are now available in our Race ProofTM 12 point fasteners. Kits for all OEM applications include bolts with a .875” flange and the appropriate washers. For special applications with custom shocks you can get an exact fitting washer by using our Flange Washer System which has washers available in 1.00”, 1.125” and 1.250”. Diamond Engineering transmission side cover kits have better fitment and give you more than the competition. All kits include the side cover, bearing housing and speed sensor. Softail kits have specific fitment for whether the exhaust system mounts to the bearing housing or frame. Kits for Touring models (1993-06) and Dyna models (2006-11) include the oil filler bolts too. Dyna kits also include bolts to mount the exhaust on the bearing housing replacing the factory studs as well as the boss bolt on 2006-11 models. We offer the only complete kits with proper fitment in the industry today.

Belt sprocket kits are available for all models and include thick flat washers. Shown here on the left is a comparison of the standard thick flat washer that is included in each kit and our new CNC machined flange washers. These machined flange washers are counterbored to allow the 12 point bolt to sit down inside of them creating an almost seamless look as the two flanges meet. Each washer features a large O.D. radius to reflect light better and is polished by hand to a mirror finish. Kits of five flange washers are conviently packaged for belt sprocket applications. Shown on the left are our special rotor bolts for all Narrow Glide models. These fasteners feature a low head for clearence. They are rated at 180,000 psi tensile and hand polished to a mirror finish.
