Thank you for attending the town-meeting on Sunday night concerning the purchase of the land to our north. You will find the joint motion from our Trustees and Deacons. In the article above. Wisdom suggests that we roll
the remaining 2.2 million dollar debt on the sanctuary into the loan we need to purchase the land increasing our debt to a total of 4.75 million. Five banking institutions will com-pete for the loan and we are confident we will get an excellent rate and excellent terms. We also plan to do a home-grown capital campaign later this year to help us knock out this indebtedness sooner rather than later. We need this land. Since we built the Family Life Center in 2000, we have spent in the neighborhood of $126,000 renting the lot behind the wedding chapel. We now have one chance to purchase it. The owner wouldn’t split the property between the wedding chapel and the Brown mansion. But God gave us a buyer for the Brown mansion proper-ty, so God has been very much at work answering the prayers many of you have been praying for years. This purchase and the construction of parking will help us meet cur-rent and future need. It’s a great opportunity. We cannot move forward without formal church approval, so, as announced, we will vote on the motion on Sunday morning in both services. Since we had our discussion Sunday night past, we will vote without dis-cussion this Sunday. Thanks for your prayerful consideration and your generosity in mak-ing it happen. And talk about timing … this Sunday morning as we continue our series, Front Porch Wis-dom, we’ll be thinking together about money-wisdom. See you on Sunday. Your Pastor, John

Motion to Purchase Property
The Trustees and Deacons move that First Baptist Church of Hot Springs approve the agreements its trustees have entered with Dorothy Alice Flurry, individually and as Ex-ecutrix of the Estate of Mary Elizabeth Brown Birdsong, deceased, under which First Baptist will purchase the +-6.2-acre parcel of real property lying north of First Baptist Church, known as the W.C. Brown mansion (2330 Central Avenue) together with the unimproved area located west of the mansion, and the Wedding Chapel (2342 Central Avenue) together with the parking lot located west of the chapel; and approve the agreement its trustees have entered with Summit Properties, LLC, to sell to Summit the W.C. Brown mansion. These transactions will result in a net cost to First Baptist of $2,000,000 plus closing costs. It is further moved that its trustees, John Wayne Smith, Jack Porter and John B. Robbins, be authorized to seek out the lending institution offer-ing the most favorable interest rates and terms and refinance First Baptist’s existing mortgage debt and for additional funds to cover the net cost of the property being ac-quired from Dorothy Flurry and the Birdsong Estate, as well as the projected cost to de-velop this property into parking spaces and the eventual demolition of the Wedding Chapel for a total loan of approximately $4,750,000; and that these trustees be author-ized to execute a deed and all loan documents necessary to effect these transactions.
