RAIN BOOT

HERB GARDEN

MATERIALS NEEDED

1) An old pair of rain boots2) Two different herbs3) Potting soil4) Materials for decorating, such as

crayons, makers, glue and glitter

STEP #1

Help your child poke holes in the soles of an old pair of rain boots so that water can drain freely.

STEP #2

Ask your children to decorate the boots however they would like.

STEP #3

Purchase potting soil and herbs from your local store — like sage, parsley or mint —that your family uses often.

STEP #4

Plant your herbs in the newly decorated rain boots.

STEP #5

Water herbs frequently and trim as needed.

PERSONALIZED

FINGERPRINT

CANDLES

MATERIALS NEEDED

1) White candle2) Scissors3) Acrylic paint4) Markers5) Tissue paper6) Wax paper7) Hair dryer

STEP #1

Using the scissors, cut a piece of tissue paper that is slightly smaller than the circumference of the candle.

STEP #2

Place a few sheets of news paper underneath the tissue paper, as the paint will bleed through. Then, have your children place a fingertip into the acrylic paint and decorate the tissue with flower pedals or whatever design they choose.

STEP #3

Using paint or a marker, write “Happy Mother’s Day!” or include any further designs or detail that you wish.

STEP #4

Wrap the tissue paper around the candle once the paint is dry.

STEP #5

Wrap a piece of wax paper around the tissue paper design, and grip the entire object with the excess wax paper.

STEP #6

Help your children use the hair dryer to blow hot air over the painted design. As hot air continues to flow over and the wax starts to melt, the tissue paper will begin to disappear. Be sure to apply hot air evenly over the entire candle.

STEP #7

Since it may be hot, be careful when removing the wax paper. The artwork should now be a part of the candle.

STEP #1

Collect items from a specific family vacation.

STEP #2

Carefully fill jar with items, using bent wire to lower in objects if necessary.

STEP #3

Arrange items within to your liking. Feel free to add to jar in the future or rearrange items as well.
