1. Areas open to Cross Country Motorized U ses – TheCinder Hills OHV Area (located on the North Half of theMV U M) is open to all motor vehicles year round. There areno other areas on the Forest with this designation.2. Cam ping – Motor vehicle use for the purpose of dispersedcam ping is perm itted only on National Forest System landswithin 300 feet of the edge of road segm ents designated fordispersed cam ping. V isitors m ay park along the edge of anyroad shown on this m ap, and walk to dispersed cam psites atany location on National Forest System lands, ex cept wherespecifically prohibited. P rohibited locations include thosewithin the city lim its of Flagstaff and Sedona, along OakCreek Canyon, and within the P um phouse W ash Closurearea near K achina V illage. Sensitive areas - Motor vehicle use off of a forest road ortrail for purposes of cam ping or gam e retrieval shall notcross riparian areas, stream s, and rivers ex cept at hardenedcrossings with ex isting culverts. Motor vehicle use off of aforest road or trail m ay not occur in areas that are gatedand/or fenced, and signed as closed even if shown asdesignated on the m ap.6. Casner Mountain Trail – Casner Mountain Trail (Trail No.8) is designated as a m otorized trail with very ruggedconditions along a narrow ridge with lim ited opportunity fortwo-way traffic. For vehicles < 62” in width, the route is openyear-round and no perm it is required; there is room to goaround ex isting gates at each end. For vehicles over 62” inwidth, free perm its are available from the R ed R ock R angerDistrict from May 16th – October 14th each year. No morethan one perm it will be issued per calendar week.
