PREFACE .

When sixty years of my life had

passed away I felt that the infirmities

of old age were gradually approaching.

An inclination to stoop and benddown

,with a pressure on my shoul

ders,were indications that a great

change was coming. I then resolvedto throw off

,if possible

,this relentless

oppressor of our mental and physical powers . I commenced some newscientific studies

,and resorted to new

physical exercises . Here I had toexercise my MIND and to deal withMATTER and keep in MOTION, andthis suggested the title for my book :MIND

,MATTER AND MOTION .

I do not contemplate mind in itsmetaphysical relation to all existingthings

,but view it as the intellectual or

intelligent power in man,by which he

arrives at conclusions which control hisactions . I do not present matter inits strictly scientific relation to naturallaws'but view it as it exists in its vari

In my first study of this subj ect I’

was fully satisfied that the light of thesun was caused by electrical action ,but by a more careful examination ofthe statements of the different authorswho have written on this subj ect, andof the facts connected with solar ac

tion, I am prepared to advance one

step . farther and assert that the sunis, in itself, an 1mmense electric light.It is not merely to be viewe d as a lighthouse on the distant shores of a rockbound coast

,shedding its borrowed

light to guide the mariner in his course,

but as a central power house of untold energy, to hold and guide revolving worlds in their motion around thiscommon center

,and that

this willfinally be a recognized fact in science .

I am the more confident in this fromthe fact that

,up to this time

,no theory

has been offered on which astronomerscould generally agree .In reference to this

,Dr. Neweomb,

in his 'Popular Astronomy”

says : It is, remarkable that modern

science has shown us more mysteriesin the sun than it has explained, sothat we find ourselves farther than be

fore from a satisfactory explanation of

solar phenomena .

On page 287 Dr . Newcomb saysNo theory of the solar constitutionwhich is free from some obj ections hasyet appeared .

Professor Langly, the astronomer,says : 'The most important statementwith reference to the sun

,perhaps,

which we can make with certainty,‘ is

even a negative one . It is that wehave no other than empirical groundsin the present state of knowledge forbelieving in the uniformity of solarradiation in prehistoric periods or inthe future .”

From such statements from two ofthe most popular astronomers of ourcountry it must be admitted that thereis a demand for something more certain on this subj ect.A number of different theories havebeen offered, and in their turn rej ectedas untenable . The theory now generally received by astronomers is thatthe solar orb is now in a process of

garded as a fact in science and is received only from a want of somethingmore in harmony with scientific facts .N ow

,which we can study,

and from which we can make certaincalculations

,and thus arrive at scien

we learn that an immense amount ofmatter is constantly thrown out fromthe sun

the sun,but it can be accounted for

most clearly by the different electricalconditions of these particles of matter.By the immense magnetism of the sun

disturbance on the surface of the sun,

by a thousand fold all the cyclones andtornadoe s ever witness ed on this earth ,can only be accounted for on the theory of electrical action .

The spots seen on the surface of thesun through the telescope can be nothing less than immense chasms throughthe photosphere

,caused by these

storms .

,and with facts that

cannot be denied,and we will finally

arrive at conclusions to which themost advanced scien ce of our timescan offer no obj ections .Dr. Newcomb says : The greatquestion in the present state of scienceis how the supply of heat ismaintainedagainst such an immense loss by radiation .

Well,we may now proclaim that we

have found the ever—flowing fountain,streaming out from every star andevery world throughout the universalempire— enough to supply all demandsfor millions on millions of years .

All other theories point to a waste

of energies that foretell the final doomof nature'but electricity can never fail .It has in it the elements of perpetualmotion . It manifests a power that issui generis . It works for humanity inthousands of forms

,from the sewing

machine up to the locomotive drawinga train of passengers .It carries a message of friendly

greeting to the different nations of the

earth and passes around the world in

a few minutes .

these restraints its power is boundlessand yet under the control of a higherlaw, working out the designs of an infinite mind and will .The late Professor Tyndall saysWhen the history of the dynamicaltheory of heat is written

The fact has been strangely overlooked that sunshine possesses properties different from the light producedby the ordinary combustion of terrestrial material substances . By a dueconsideration of this the mistakes already referred to could have beenavoided . Then, as has already been

stated,heat is not an independent ex

isting thing. Its existence dependson mechanical or chemical action

,and

it cannot pass through cold space andretain its existence without a repro~

ducing cause . The fuel stored in ourvaults or places of deposits , to warmour dwelling places or run our machinery

,contains the elements from

which heat is produced,but this can

only be accomplished when the fuel issubj ected to the chemical action calledcombustion . Then the heat is produced.

We cannot say that the heat is latent in the fuel, neither can we saythat light is latent in the candle beforeit i s lighted . We might as well claimthat there is latent ice in hot water

,as

to say that there is latent heat in coldwater or a latent mountain in a molehill .The process by which cold thingsare made hot in the ordinary courseof nature is generally understood

,but

the process by which our earth iswarmed by the sun’s rays is not generally understood

,and hence the many

conflicting theories on this subject.T he latest, and now most generally re

ceived theory, by astronomers, is thatthe immense solar orb is shrinking

,

and that by this process of contractionit is producing an enormous quantityof heat, which is radiated into spacefrom this common center

,and of this

only a small fractional part reaches theplanets

,and by far the greater part is

a prodigal waste in boundles s space .

N ow, if heat is regarded as an eu

ergy in nature, and if, according to thematerialistic theory

,all energies are

conserved and indestructible whereand how is this radiated heat con

served ? We might as well claim thatsunshine must be conserved or storedin some dark place to be utilized forother work in the future . This wouldbe about as unphilosophical as Professor Balfour Steward’s theory ofa

great waste heap somewhere in theuniverse where heat is stored away toburn up everything in the distant future. This theory of an eternal inde

structible energy as the ruling power ofthe universe has caused endless con

fusion and led‘

to conclusions that cannot be made to harmon ize with true

science .But again

,we will look at facts that

cannot be denied in reference to solarheat

,as it manifests itself on our earth .

Rays of light from the sun, passingfrom a rare to a denser medium arerefracted

,and diverted from their nat

ural course . A double convex lensbrings the rays together at a focuswhere the friction of these crowdedrays will produce a burning fire . A

concavo convex lens will produce amilder form of light and a less degreeof heat Th is is the condition of ouratmosphere . It is denser than interstellar ether and concave inside andconvex outside

,and the density in

creases as we pass from the outer tothe inner side . Hence, the sun givesus more heat in lower than in higherregions of the atmosphere At theouter rim of our atmosphere the coldis so intense that no life

,such as is

known on our earth,could possibly ex

i st . Even on the highest mountainsin tropical climates no vegetable nor

animal life can exist They are cov

ered with perpetual frost and snow .

When the rays of light first strike ouratmosphere they are diffused andthereis a glow of light in all directions . As

these rays descend they are refracted

by the lens’action of the atmosphere,and this increases till the earth isreached'then the amount of heat ‘ is

governed by the angle at which thesun’s rays strike the atmosphere . Inthe winter the rays strike more ob

liquely, and the refraction is diminished ,while in the summer they come nearerthe perpendicular and we have moreheat

,although we are threemillions of

miles farther from the sun in'uly thanwe are in'anuary.

Some recent writers have told usthat the heat is in the sun’s rays, butthat it cannot manifest itself until itcomes in contact with some hard substance

,such as the earth, and then it

is produced by a con cussion . Thisuntenable theory meets its own refutation in the fact that these rays of lightfall on the vast mountain ranges withequal

'

force as on the low lands , andthere is no heat knockedout of them inthose high altitudes . Again, if theheat from the sun was produced bythis concussion we would have a moreuniform temperature in the differentseasons of the year, for it must be presumed that the sun’s rays strike withequal force always .

at things on which to build atheory .

A lecturer in Chicago on astronomy, some years ago, while endeav

oring to explain the nature of heatfrom the sun said : 'I would fear totell you the terrible condition ourearth would be in if the atmospheredid not keep off from us a great part ofthe sun’s heat .” This man shouldhave known that if we had no atmos

phere to change these electric raysinto heat rays

,no life could exist on

our earth .

From this theory we learn thatchanges of temperature so common innorthern climates must depend on at

mospheric changes . We certainlycannot think that the sun’s rays arewarmer on one day than on another,but we are compelled toadmit by undeniable facts and by the sternest logicof events, that the changes

of temperature are caused by atmospheric conditions . These are not to be regardedas chance happenings or accidents innature

,but the results of an operation

of natural laws established by an infinite power.

THE COND ITION'OF MATTERA N D THE ORI'IN OF HUM A N LIFE AND MIND .

Matter exists under an endless variety of forms and conditions

,such as

solid,

fluids and gase s,ponderable and

imponderable,visible and invi sible

,in

simple elements and compounds'yetin all these combinations and changesits primal elements remain unchanged.

The identity of a particle ofmatter cannot be destroyed by transformations or transmutation s . Whatever may be said of the inherent ehergy, or molecular motion, the onegreat truth remains

,that inorganic

matter is inert,and cannot transfer

itself from one position or place to another. It can only move when it isacted upon by a force outside of or

above itself,or by a life within it .

Now,as we see inorganic matter in

motion in every direction,we must

conclude that it is under the controlling influence of some power from out

s ide'

of itself,or some chemical or me

chamical force within,not natural to it

,

to which it must submit without achoice or will of its own .

We also see matter controlled by alife within it

,growing from small to

large forms in the different departments of animal and vegetable life .

Here the question comes up with peculiar emphasis : Whence came thisfirst impulse to move matter from theoutside or this life that moves and controls it from

within ? Back of thesethere is another important question :Whence came these helpless and inertforms of matter in their endless variety ? Again

,did matter produce it

self,and then impart to itself the en

ergy by which it was put into motion ?

And,

finally,did this unconscious eu

ergy produce life and raise it from itslowest to its highest condition? These

perplexing question s will continuallycome up before the mind of the speculative inquirers after the origin

ofthings

,Without recognizing an infinite

mind and an all - controllingpowerabovenature . To the believer in the supernatural these question s are welcomemessengers

,coming up from the past

eternity and the answer is at hand .

Matter could not produce itself,and

that life could not become connectedwith matter without a previous life and

life - giving power . This is now gen

erally received as a truth in biology ,all life must come from a pre - existinglife . Matter was first dowered withmotion and then with the power andconditions to produce life .

We need not seek to reconcile theBible history of creation with the conceptions of modern materiali sticscience

,or to make it harmonize with

them,but will call attention to the his

tory of creation as recorded in the firstchapter of Genesis

,verse 20 :

'AndGod said

,let the water bring forth

abundantly the moving creature thathath life

,and the fowl that may fly

about the open firmament of heaven .

Again,verse 24 :

'And'od said, letthe earth bring forth the living creature after his kind

,and cattle and

creeping things,and beast of the earth

after his kind,and it was so .

” It is alsostated in this connection that 'odCREATED these things . The wordcreation does not necessarily imply the

making of something out of hand without the employment o-f secondarycauses . It is often used to express atransformation or change from one

condition to another.

they were dowered with the power to'RIN'FORTH the different formsof life .We cannot account for this onany other principle than the designsof an infinite intelligence, executed bvan Almighty Power.This gives to us a more exaltedview of creation than the theoryguessed at by evolution ists

,by a process of evolution

cluding the human race . Where,in

all literature,will we find a more

rational account of the beginning of

life than here .This relieves us from the childishfancy that God, by some mechanicalproces s

separately . He made the conditionsfor their existence and arranged thematerial for theirnourishment

,and by

the power of his word and will theywere ''ROU'HT FORTH

in the highest sense he is the creator

of all things . In this connection wenotice that the creation of man wasby a different process

,and any effort

to place man’s origin on the same levelwith the lower animals indicates a disbelief in one of the fundamental doctr ines of theology. It is the denial of

a power above nature and a rej ectionof the supernatural .The recognition of the infinite andcontrolling power is the only postulate on which we can build a rationaltheory of the origin of life and the

constancy and course of the universe .

The aim of modern science now isto admit some theological ideas

,such

as they can bring in harmony with

their atheistic conception of cosmogony, and to form a new system of religion that will rej ect all ideas of thesupernatural .A careful study of the relation of

different parts to one immense andharmonious whole

,will naturally lead

the thoughtful mind in the directionof the supernatural

,a power that is

not inherent in matter,nor produced

by natural laws .A materialistic philosophy obj ectsto the word supernatural and claims

that all the O perations are carried on

by a natural process .A moment’s reflection and thoughtof our surroundings will show the error of such conclusions . Our housesdo not build themselves . Machines donot put themselves in operation . Our

garments do not make themselves, andthe thousands of comfortable thingsthat come to our needy would all comethrough instrumentalities that areabove the operation of mere naturallaws . When rough materials areformed into a beautiful dwelling- placewe know some ~

mind has ordered it so .

HOWTRUTH MAY'E FOUND .

The safest way to find truth,when it

is surrounded with numerous errors ,is to test . theories by experiments insuch a manner as to make mistakesimpossible . This is the only way inwhich we can pass from mere theoriesand conj ectures to well - establishedfacts in all branches of knowledge .

Many of the great and well -restab

lished truths in physical science werefirst advanced as theories, and when

tricity which, according to the bes t ofmy knowledge, have not been madebefore

,and the conclusion arrived at

from them are of the most startlingand important kind . If I am not mistaken

,and I think I am not

,our theory

of cosmogony,in some respects

be replaced by another . My theoryis that gravitation is on ly one part ofthe controlling power in planetary motion

,and that worlds are moved

together and governed by the laws ofmagnetic attraction and repulsion, inconnection with the general law ofgravitation .

,by electro magnetism,

make the apple, or any other substancesuspended in the air

its axes from east to west or from westto east

,without any visible force com

ing in contact with it, and reverse thesemotions at my pleasure by causing amagnetic current to pass around it .Again

,I can take two large sheets

of paper, of equal weight, say ten tofifteen grains weight

trifiedand the other in its natural state .The one with the electricity will fly upand adhere to something above it

ments,and not me rely by guessing that

these things might be so .We should look at nature as a greatschool

,where the obj ect lessons are

atoms,and worlds

,and suns and stars .

We shou ld give heed to their instructions with profound attention and

tered over these boundless fields , andfrom them learn all that is allowed for

us to know of that infinite power thatrules and controls the whole . In one

sense'All matter is God’s tongue'Out from its motions God’s thoughtsare sung'

And the realms of space are the octavebars

And the music notes are the sun’s andstars .”

T hese tones are not heard by mortalears, yet we see them

'leap into spacefrom a thousand choirs” to sing theepic of the starry heavens .Facts in science that can be demon

strated as such point in the directionof a supreme ruler of the universe

,

while the speculations of modernscience point in the direction of athe

ism and the final failure of nature’senergies .

COM'INED FOR CE'OF NATURE .

In every part of this vast universe,

in the great or in the small, we seeevidences of an all - controlling mind .

T he'lines of force

,originating in

the Infinit e Power, move out as in

struments in the hands of this Power ,which acts on nature through theoperation of changeless laws , and notby an un-created energy that is hastening to its final doom .

This,however, brings to the border

line of mysteries beyond which wecannot pass'but the mystery is moreprofound by the assumption of an

eternal unconscious energy than inthe recognition of an eternal intelligentPower. If we are forced to admit thatby the operation of natural laws many

things occur that cause human suffering

,we must also admit that -by the

operation of these'same laws multi

plied thousands of things come to us

that satisfy our wants and especiallycontribute to our happiness of bodyand mind . When it is said,

'TheLord sendeth his rain upon the justand upon the unjust

,

” we are not tobelieve that 'by some supernaturalpower he formed the clouds and putthe water into them and then causedthem to pour out their contents uponthe earth . There are numerous intermediate forces, each performing a

separate part in this process of bringing rain . There must be the liftingpower of the sun’s rays to take up thewater'the formation of the clouds'and the power of the atmosphere tosustain the clouds

,and the wind as

motive power to propel them onwardin their course'and finally the powerof gravitation to bring the rain fromthe clouds to the earth .

Among the great working forces innature we find electro - magnetism andrepulsion .

There is a pull and a push throughout the vast empire of matter. Electro - magnetism plays an important partin these strange phenomena . Whilemaking some experiments along thisline I was myself surprised at the results, so that I concluded to makea record of them to illustrate my views .But fearing that I might be chargedwith an exaggeration from an excitedimagination I called at the office of

my friend, Dr. Cady, a prominent dentist. I told him I wi shed to explainthe flight of birds through the air.I hadWith me a bunch of duck feathers

,and laid them on the table . I then

told the Doctor I would make a few

passes with my hand over a sheet ofpaper, not stronger than the motionof a duck’s wing striking the air.WhenI held this paper from four to sixinches distant over the bunch of feathers they immediately flew up and fastened themselves to this pape r at oneend

,while the other endstood at right

angles from the paper,quivering and

shaking as if some power was pullingthem to get them away from the paper'and so it did

,for a number of. them

were pulled off and immediately fastened themselves to something else inanother direction . I then turned thepaper around while these feathers werestan ding on one end and the otherend trembling in the ai r. I then .

passed my left hand under the papersome distance from the paper, and

with every motion of my hand theywould jump and crawl over the paperlike living things in rapid

'

motion .

Dr. Cady was so deeply interes tedand so highly delighted with the ex

periment that he said, It is too 1m

portant for me to witness it alone ,”

and called in ‘hi s friend Dr. Newman ,

before whom I repeated the experi

ments .

within the range of human knowledgeand scientific demonstration'and becomes more clear as we advance inour investigation of the nature of electricity, and its 1nfluence in the government of the physical universe .Electricity performs an important

part in producing the light of the sunand conduct ing thes e rays of lightthrough inter - stellar ether space to thedifferent planets and theif satellites .Electricity pervades all ether space

penetrates all substance s,and

,like a

slumbering giant , only waits to becalled into act ivity by some dynamicpower

,when it will show its strength

in the work it is directed to perform .

Scientific investigation gives dailynew evidences of the extent of thispower in Nature . It runs out alonga slender wire, by which it is conductedto the. car wheels, and they move likeliving things with the crowds of passengers, through the city .

How few of us realize the fact thatwhile we are passing to or from our

daily toil or seeking amusement orpleasure in riding on these electriccars that we are all on board of a moremagnificent train— this earth . Thiswonderful chariot of the sky, in itsjourney around the sun

,moves over

sixty - five thousand miles in an hourwithout a danger of coming in conflictwith the other numerous bodies moving around the same central sun .

According to the knowledge we gainby experiments on a small scale, weare led to the conclusion that theserevolving planets in their rapid movement through space must be centersof power to evolve electro magnet ism

to an almost unlimited extent .If the planets are an offspring fromthe sun

,as the Nebular hypothesis

claims,we may naturally conclude

that these circling orbs may contribute their part in supplying the grandold luminary with materials out of

which sunshine is made . This wouldbe an illustrat ion of the corelation of

force'but by no means a proof of theeternal equivalents of forces

events , many pleasant scenes of our

past lives are brought in review beforeus . Even our sufferings and disap

pointments , when recollected in conn ection with the relief that may havecome to us

the apparent accidents and dangers towhich we found ourselves exposed, allhave a tendency to encourage us forthe future . A recollection that thesame or similar help may come to usin the future that sustained us in thepast will enable us to move forwardin the struggles of life and~

tection that sustained us in the past .All persons are endowed with this faculty, but some in a much higher degree than others . While t here arenatural endowments, and some havemuch better memories than others , itis undeniably true that by neglectingto exerc15e and cultivate this facultyit becomes enfeebled, while, on theother hand, by a proper course oftraining and a systematic exercise ,the memory may be strengthened beyond the highest conceptions of thosewho have not made suitable and systematic efforts in this direction . , or in different drawers,and somarks them and the place wherethey are deposited,~ that they can belooked at any time when they arewanted .

What advantage woiuldwe have inthe accumulation of wealth in silverand gold and diamonds and other pre

cious things that make men rich , if webrought them home and handed themover to our steward or servant for safekeeping

man had millions on millions of treasures hidden in this way that he nor noone else could ever find'what advantage would they be to him ? None .

He might say I have lost them be

cause I have not provided a properplace to store them away . I had nosystematic arrangement in my treasure house

,and now they are forever

beyond my reach . In this way, froma want of a properly arranged houseto store away the treasures of the mindthousands of precious gems have beenlost . We may deeply regret the loss ,but this will not return to us the losttreasures . The only safe and properway is to guard against these lossesin the future . Why have safes withvarious compartments been invented

,

with bars and bolts and locks,but to

protect our goods from the hands ofthe thief and the robber

,and also with

a view to have them at our commandat a moment’s notice for our use ?

The thief of time is watching usevery hour to snatch away the accumulations for our mental toil . Much hasbeen taken from us and laid in thegrave of oblivion

,but there are still

vast outlying fields where we can

gather more,and there are means pro

vided to keep our gathered treasuressecurely .

But someone advanced in yearsmay say,

'I am too old to commencebuilding a storehouse to treasure upmy mental wares .” You need not

build a new house . The old one isgood enough if you will only go towork and make some repairs'andwhen you begin this repairing processyou will be surprised to find howeasy the task will be . The sweep ingout of a few dark corners of the oldbuilding will soon throw light overother parts .The opening of a few windows willlet in the light and make everything.chee rful about the old homesteadwhere the h igher nature has longdwelt in gloom and sadness becausethe house was so much out of repair.How sad it is to think that thousands of persons , when they arrtve at

the age of forty - five or fifty years ,think that their time of improvementis past

,and under this impression they

neglect mental culture , and with thisneglect the body soon becomes likea house uncared for.

We build the house we live in, thatis

,our inner and higher nature to such

an extent controls organic matter soas to build up and nourish those partsmost suited for mental activity, whereno other abnormal or disturbing agencies interfere . This is especially truein reference to the growth and development of the brain , which is the seatof mental power. Proper training notonly improves the mind but enlargesthe dwelling place where the mind resides , acts and Operates .The bright, expressive and speaking eye'the elevated forehead'the ihtelligent features'all indicate an intelligent working power or force superintending the material organization .

This working force in the intellectualrealm is under the control of the human will . If we determine that themind shall lie dormant and the memory shall become feeble and inactivefrom a want of proper exercise

evitable results will follow. On theother hand , if we determine that thememory shall be retentive, and thatthe shelves in our memory

pastures , flocks , woolen garments ,cold weather, blankets , carpets , andornamented parlors . Or

will lead ,us to mutton, to a good dinner'to the dinner party'to the namesof those present'to their conversation'and many other things we maywish to bring in review before us .A s ilk thread wil l lead us to the silkworm , the mulberry tree, the manufacturing establishment, the silk dress ,the beautiful lady that we saw wearingit, her sparkling eye , her wit, her diamonds , her language , home , fortunesor misfortunes , all from the end of asmall silk thread .

A cotton thread will lead us to thecotton fields, the spinning and weaving, the factory girls employed in the

goods, the sails of ships, a trip acrossthe ocean , the commerce of differentand 'distant countries , the ties that bindnations in one common brotherhood .

A linen thread will conduct us backto the field where flax grows , to thespinning and weaving of linen , to Irishlinen , to the thousands of toilers whoproduce the beautiful fabric, to theweaver of the linen , to the rags ofworn out garments , to the paper millthat manufactures the rags to paper,to the beautiful white letter paper on '

which our correspondence to lovedones may be written .

A hemp string leads to the fields,

the rope - walks where it is manufactured int0 1 cords and ropes , to therigging

of a ship, hauling and directing the sails , carrying the commerceof the world tO l their destined ports .A red

,or scarlet thread

,will lead us

to something fiery or intense, ardent,high tempered

,wars and bloodshed,

or such things as will incite or inflamethe passions .A blue thread will lead one’s mindup to the pale blue sky, in which theclouds are floating and behind which

It is true we might travel along theline of a dark thread into dismal andgloomy regions

ory on that which will give us higherviews of our l ives and destinies .The questions may arise in the

minds of some,'What will be the ad

vantage of all this ?” 'What can I dowithout an active memory to followup these different threads ?”We caneasily see where the advantage of sucha mental exercise is found . It is aneffort to build up and strengthen thememory, or prepare the differentshelves in this storehouse for reposi

tories of our mental wares . Insteadof leaving the mind a vacant blankand tossing restless upon our beds inthe stillness of the night, we may startthe wheels of memory running backward over the past, and stop at thedifferent way stations with such delight and pleasure that we will soonbe lulled to sleep, perchance to dream

Some persons are naturally endowedwith good memories , while others aredeficient, and ,

must depend on culturefor improvement.Before letters were invented for

the purpose of recording the events oflife and our historic narratives, thememorymust have beenmuch strongerthan it is now. The transactionsand constantly recurring events of lifehad

to be carried in the memory instead o-f recorded in books .Many of the historical narratives

now found in books of history, bothsacred and profane

preserved in the storehouse of memory for ages before they were permanently recorded in books now foundin our libraries .There are many marvelous instances

prove to a marvelous extent . Withevery advancement we make we in

as if laboring under a heavy burden .

T his is soon followed by an enfeebledcondition of the arms and lower limbs .

der the infirmity of advanced years .Some even feel symptoms of thesechanges soon after they have passedtheir fiftieth year. It is a sad reflec

This mustbe used as follows : Moi'sten the endsof you r fingers with this wash andstrike with con siderable force on thepart of the face where the wrinklesappear. T his will produce a healthyaction on the skin and soon removethe wrinkles . Apply only a smallquantity
