Metal-Seat Bubble-Tight Butterfly Valve

Double offset design

The double offset disc design minimizes seatring stress, the spherical sealing surface of the disc fits precisely into the resilient metal seatring, which provides longer service life.

Bubble tight metal seat design

Most metal seated butterfly valves allow quite a large amount of leakage under actual service conditions due to the simple design of the seat ring, even though various factory inspection can be passed in tems of ambient water and air.337Y and 336Y can offer a low leakage rate of 50Nm3/Min/inch to 0.02%CV even under actual working conditions (high temp. etc.) by employing a uniquely designed double ring resilient seat with coil spring.

PTFE seat

PTFE seat version is available as 331Y although its working temperature is limited to 200 degrees C and subject to working conditions.

Fire proof construction

As no rubber or PTFE parts are employed as metal seated valves, 337Y and 336Y types would never loose their sealing members during a fire.

Jacket body design

A jacket body design is available as 339Y upon special request.

Wider temperature range

337Y and 336Y types can be used from minus 100 degrees C to plus 600 degrees C subject to the pressure temperature rating chart with or without special bonnet arrangements. No conventional RPTFE seated high performance butterfly valves will work at over 232 degrees C.

Easy maintenance

337Y and 336Y types have a very simple design, with compact and light weight. The sealing parts can be easily repaired by removing the seat retainer and replacing the seat ring, without special tool.

Low torque

In addition to the effect of the double offset design, a self lubricating shaft bearing produces lower torque and smooth operation, which results in cost savings when selecting an actuator.

Sealing principles

The disc and seatring have spherical contacting surfaces. All points on the circles of the disc and seatring make contact on a single plane simultaneously. This increases the sealing capability to a bubble tight level even under high pressure. The double seatring incorporates a coil spring to maintain positive sealing, which can expansion or contraction of the disc or valve body due to pressure or temperature changes.

Bidirectional design

Although there is a preferred flow direction, bidirectional use is possible depending on working conditions.

Remark: Use SNB 7/S45C (A193 B7/A, 194 2H) SUS304/SUS304 Long bold uses full threaded bolt. Hexagon nut uses heavy nut. A metric screw should have 3 pitches if its nominal diameter exceeds M30. A unified screw should have 8 threads per inch if its nominal diameter exceeds 1 inch. Hexagon bolts (set bolts) are indicated with the retainer side on the up side and the stem side on down side.
