Closing Bell: BSE Sensex trades lower by 102 points, or 0.34%, to 30,032, while the Nifty 50 falls 12 points, or 0.12%, to 9,340. Lupin Ltd shares fall 1% to Rs1,357 after CNBC TV reported that its Goa plant is said to get form 483 from the US drug regulator. Axis Bank shares fall 1.5% to Rs512.95 after the bank saw slippages worth Rs4,811 crore. Total slippages from corporate lending stood at Rs4,320 crore, of which 83% came from a watch list of loans that the bank expects could turn bad. The watch list outstanding at the end of the March quarter was Rs9,436 crore. Kotak Mahindra Bank shares rise 1% to Rs909.05 ahead of its March quarter earnings. According to 13 Bloomberg analysts’ estimates, the bank may post a net profit of Rs972.70 crore. Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd shares fall 5.2% to Rs186. The bank posted net profit of Rs52.16 crore in the March quarter, up 6.3% from Rs49.07 crore a year ago. As many as 120 stocks have surged over 1000% between October 8, 2013 and April 26, 2017. Of these, 30 stocks that include Uniply Industries, Tasty Bite Eatables, KEI Industries, Nilkamal, Indo Count Industries and Dwarikesh Sugar have risen over 2000%. These 120 stocks have given an average 1451% return to the investors. Of these 120 stocks, 23 stocks are from the S&P BSE 500 index, which gained 80% during the period. The list includes Can Fin Homes, TVS Srichakra, TVS Motor Company, Dalmia Bharat, Force Motors, Eveready Industries, NBCC and Motilal Oswal Financials. Shilip Cable Technologies, too trading below its face value at Rs 8.78, rallied over 2000%, before falling 20% for the second straight day on BSE. The stock currently trading at Rs 132, tanked 36% in past two trading days from Rs 206 after the company’s board cancelled their meeting for the second time due to lack of quorum. The said board meeting was to consider and approve allotment of equity shares upon conversion of warrants. Petron Engineering Construction is locked in upper circuit of 20% at Rs 176.40 on BSE after the company received order worth of Rs 110 crore for building structure works. “The company has received work order from Guruashish Construction Pvt. Ltd., HDIL Towers, Bandra (East), Mumbai, for building structure works at Goregaon (West), Mumbai.
