Closing Bell: BSE Sensex closed lower by 14 points, to 31,298, while the Nifty 50 fell 6 points, or 0.06%, to 9,651 BSE Sensex and NSE’s Nifty edged lower on Tuesday to close at 31,298 points and 9,651 points, respectively, while the technology shares rose. The banking stocks fell following the Punjab state government’s farm loan waiver in the country’s so-called granary capped gains. Shares of information technology companies including Infosys Ltd jumped tracking an overnight rebound in US technology stocks. “The Indian IT sector is mostly trading at fairly good valuations at the moment, specifically in the mid-cap space. Short-term triggers such as bonus and share buybacks due from companies such as Wipro Ltd are also boosting overall sentiment in the sector, he added. The Nifty IT index was up 0.6%, with Infosys, up 1.7%, gaining the most. The stock had fallen in the last three sessions. Among mid-caps, Mindtree Ltd gained as much as 1.8% while Tata Elxsi Ltd rose as much as 2.5%. However, weakness in banking capped index gains. Punjab National Bank was the top percentage loser on the Nifty PSU Bank index, declining as much as 2.5%. SpiceJet Ltd rose as much as 2.9% to Rs128.20, its highest in over two decades, after the budge Banking stocks fall after Punjab state government’s announcement of farm loan waiver. BSE banking index falls by 0.20%, BSE finance index declines by 0.32%. NSE’s Nifty bank index falls 0.26%. Logistic stocks gains after finance minister Arun Jaitley said GST roll out will be marked by an event at central hall of Parliament on night of 30 June-1July. President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the event. Snowman Logistics rose 5.55%, GATI Ltd rose 5.5%, Allcargo Logistics Ltd rose 2.8%, VRL Logistics ltd 3.8%, Patel Integrated Logistics Ltd 4%, Transport Corporation of India Ltd 0.5% and Container Corporation Of India 2.3%. Lupin Ltd fell 1.5% to Rs 1,114 after Brokerage firm Credit Suisse said that price erosion risk” is one of the highest for Lupin as 75% of US profit is from low-competition products. Lupin could see “double-digit” fall in product prices annually over next three years as more rivals start selling key drug Tata Power Co Ltd rose 3.7% to Rs 80.85 after Moneycontrol reported Indian Energy Exchange filed draft papers for an initial public offering (IPO) with Sebi. Amtek group stocks trade higher. Amtek Auto Ltd rose 5%, Castex Technologies Ltd rose 12.4%, Metalyst Forgings Ltd 7.7%, JMT Auto Ltd rose 7.3%. Tata Motors Ltd rose 2% to Rs460.85 while Tata Motors DVR rose 1.1% to Rs286.25. Tata Motors Ltd said on Monday it had no plans to list its luxury British car brand Jaguar Land Rover after Bloomberg reported that the automaker was considering an initial public offering (IPO) of the unit. “There are no plans to list Jaguar Land Rover,” a Tata spokesman told Reuters. Satin Creditcare Network Ltd shares rose 3.1% to Rs292 after Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved foreign investors to invest 24-49% in the company.

News: Spicejet Ltd shares rise 2.2% to Rs127.30 after Boeing and SpiceJet sign

Trading volume rose over 3 times its 20-day average. The stock is the top performer on the S&P BSE 500 Momentum indicator Relative Strength Index (or RSI) is close to 70, which indicates the stock may be overbought Year-to-date, the stock has risen 33 percent, compared to a 13.9 percent gain in the S&P BSE India Oil & Gas Index.

Balkrishna Industries Extends Gains To Day 2- Shares of the tyre manufacturer rose as much as 1.5 percent to Rs 1,633.50 after HSBC increased its earnings forecast for the company by 4-8 percent for FY18-19. Margins to be supported due to increase in product prices, says the brokerage firm. It maintains a 'hold' on the stock with a target price of Rs 1,540, citing improving market outlook. However, it added that valuations look rich at current levels.

ICICI Bank Swings After Trading Ex-Bonus- The private sector lender pared early losses and rose almost 0.8 percent after the stock price adjusted for bonus share issue. On May 3, the bank announced issue of bonus shares in the ratio of 1:10. "The post-bonus paid-up share capital is expected to be around Rs 1,281.62 crore, consisting of 640.8 crore shares of Rs 2 each," the bank had said in its filing on May 4.
