RT begins at Patriotic Junction and features a wetland and High Cliff. Terrain is scenic, flat to moderate, with one short, steep descent and two crossings of Preserve Pkwy.* WHITE TRAIL (WT) - 2.51 miles MODERATE TO CHALLENGING WT traverses the length of the park. The western segment is scenic and fairly flat, and features Patriotic Junction, Frog Pond, Tunnel Falls and Tugboat Rock. The eastern segment is also scenic and features Hurricane Creek, Boulder Field, Turtle Rock and Window Rock. Terrain is quite challenging in the park’s NE corner.* BLUE TRAIL (BT) - 1.65 miles MODERATE TO CHALLENGING BT traverses nearly the length of the park, running near parallel with PLT. The western segment features Patriotic Junction and Great Wall. The eastern segment features a sandstone glade, waterfalls, large rock formations and examples of mountain longleaf pine. Terrain is moderate, featuring slight climbs and descents.* POWERLINE TRAIL (PLT) - 2.0 miles MODERATE TO CHALLENGING PLT skirts the northern perimeter of the park, connecting Sulphur Springs parking to the park’s eastern perimeter. Much of this trail has full sun exposure but features wildflowers, scenic views, boulders and great birding habitat. The extreme northeast section of this trail passes by the Moon Rock (remnant glade). Terrain is moderate to challenging with some steep ravines and loose-stone covered paths.* ORANGE TRAIL (OT) - 1.6 miles MODERATE TO CHALLENGING OT lies on other city owned land just outside Moss Rock’s east perimeter. From Simmons Middle parking, OT leaves WT (heading east) and its loop features Rock House Boulders, Natural Bridge, High Falls and eventually Top of the World—an incredible scenic view. Terrain is moderately challenging with high steps, steeper grades and one crossing of Chapel Rd. OT runs out-and-back, with only two connections to PLT.* SCENIC LOOP (3.6 MILES): Begin at Sulphur Springs parking and follow BT, turning right at first fork. At Patriotic Junction, follow RT across Preserve Pkwy. Remain on RT to High Cliffs, re-cross Preserve Pkwy and intersect WT. Turn right on WT and remain through the Boulder Field. Continue on WT beside scenic stream, cross dirt service road and loop back from east to west, to intersect BT. Follow BT past Great Wall and back to Sulphur Springs parking. WATERFALL LOOP (1.5 MILES): Begin at Boulder Field parking area. From the Hole in Rock, turn left on WT and almost immediately cross a wooden footbridge over Hurricane Creek to the right. After the bridge, take the left fork of BT and follow it along the edge of a sandstone glade, a series of waterfalls and to an old road section of BT, turning right. Follow BT to intersect with WT. Take the right fork of WT past Turtle Rock, eventually reaching a dirt service road and within sight of a wooden footbridge. Remain straight on WT, crossing the dirt service road and paralleling the stream back to the base of the Boulder Field. Climb out of the Boulder Field on the original entrance trail. Waterfalls typically run from Nov. to April. BOULDER GORGE LOOP (2 MILES): Begin at Simmons Middle parking lot. Follow WT then turn right on OT passing shoals and streamside boulders. Just before High Falls OT forks three ways. Go straight to High Falls or go right to cross Chapel Rd and continue to Top of the World scenic overlook. Retrace your steps to the trail forks. Continue straight across the stream passing Natural Bridge and Rock House Boulders to intersect with small PLT. Turn left to re-cross stream and intersect with OT. Turn right and retrace to WT and Simmons parking lot. *See map for cross/loop connections to other trails or for park exits. 617 Preserve Pkwy.
