Exodus 17:8-16Revised Standard Version (RSV

)Amalek Attacks Israel and Is Defeated

8 Then came Am alek and fought ′with Israel at Reph idim.′

9 And Moses said to Joshua,

“Choose for us men, and go out,

fight with Am alek; ′

10 Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.”

So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Am alek; and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to ′

the top of the hill. 11

Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed; and whenever he lowered his

hand, Am alek ′prevailed.

12 But Moses’ hands grew weary; so they

took a stone and put it under him, and he sat

upon it,

and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one

on one side

, and the other on the other side; so his hands

were steady until the going down of the sun.

13 And Joshua mowed down Am alek and his ′

people with the edge of the sword.

14 And the LORD said to Moses, “Write this

as a memorial in a book and recite it in the ears of Joshua,

that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Am alek from under ′

heaven.”

15 And Moses built an altar and called the name of it,

The LORD is my banner, 16 saying, “A hand upon the

banner of the LORD!

The LORD will have war with Am alek from generation ′to generation.”

Who’s Holding Up Your Arms?

Simply put,

it is less “me” and more

“we”.

Partnership is the fuel that

allows common people to attain

uncommon results…

we are to look to the LORD who stands before us and rally behind Him...

the LORD gives us a vision of Himself, in the Scriptures and in our own

experience, of His trustworthiness.

Our help is in the Name of the Lordwho made heaven and earth (Ps 120)

Psalm 63:4

So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my

hands.

The ordinary bat that flies around at night, is a remarkably

agile creature in the air, but cannot take off from a level

place.

The, all at once, it takes off in a flash.

If it is placed on a floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle around helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it

can throw itself into the air.

In many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat and the bumble bee.

We Struggle with problems and frustrations, never

realizing that all we have to do is look up!

That’s the answer, the escape route and the solution to any problem!

Just look up to God in prayer

Luke 18: 8However, when the Son of Man comes, will he

find faith on the earth?”
