Rev. Artur Sowa, Pastor

The St. Francis of

Assisi Community

is a welcoming

Christian family.

We believe in

Jesus Christ and

are guided by the

Holy Spirit and

the example of

St. Francis.

We gather to

celebrate, to

grow in the

knowledge of

our faith rooted

in the Catholic

tradition, and to

recognize our

responsibility to

reach out to the

world.

MORSELS & TIDBITS FROM OUR PASTOR

,

Saint Peregrine was

healed of a cancerous

ulcer on his leg which

was considered beyond

saving. The fame of this

event in 1325 spread

rapidly round the west-

ern Church. Christians,

and especially the sick,

began to invoke his

name and seek his inter-

cession for the relief of

their suffering and even

for a cure from sickness.

The canonization of St.

Peregrine in 1726 in-

creased people’s devo-

tion to him which spread

to the universal

Church.

St. Francis of Assisi be-

gan offering a novena

September 14 to St.

Peregrine for those suf-

fering from cancer and

an end to the COVID-19

pandemic. The novena

will be held for nine

Mondays, through No-

vember 9. All parishion-

ers are welcome to par-

ticipate. Please remem-

ber to wear your mask

and social distance.

St. Peregrine is the pa-

tron saint for persons

suffering from illnesses

of all types in particular

cancer.

Notes on the Scripture Jesus tells perhaps none more masterful a parable than the one about a wedding feast. Parables compare something in a story to something outside the story. As a parable unfolds, the comparison becomes clear and listeners realize they are being challenged to change their behavior or outlook. The parable of the wedding feast has not one but two such moments. First, Jesus’ hearers realized he was pointing out how their rejection of him meant rejecting the Father and the prophets as well. The lucky new invitees to the feast, however, don’t have it much easier, as they find out that merely show-ing up isn’t enough. What gets you a seat at the table is not who you are or aren’t but whether you have faith and live it. Staying Connected During this time of pandemic we are trying different ways to stay connected. Let us remember we are not alone - we have each other. As a parish, we have been using technology to stay connected with our parish family. Online Masses, Videos, Emails, Phone Calls. I just wanted to share with you that we reached over 1000 subscribers on our YouTube Channel (which is a big deal) and we have over 200,000 views for our Masses. This is a great success, something to cele-brate as we continue with those adjustments and hope to go back to normal. Prayer Shawl Ministry They never stopped working. Our Prayer Shawl Minis-try is celebrating its 10th anniversary. They have been bringing comfort to those suffering and sick by making beautiful shawls and praying. This is a great ministry and I truly appreciate all the hard work. If you want to learn more about it, please, watch a video on our YouTube Channel (In the Spirit of St. Francis - Septem-ber 29th). Reconciliation Due to this new reality we have to change our time for Saturday Reconciliation to 9am (starting October 24th) We have to pay so much more attention to the safety of all who come to our church and because of that we need more time in-between our services for cleaning/disinfecting. I hope you understand and I hope it works for you. Grand Raffle We continue selling our Grand Raffle tickets. We have great prizes ($47,000) and at the same time this is a wonderful way of supporting our parish. Please check the bulletin for more details and buy a ticket online or at the office during the week.

God Bless,
