Morro Bay is home to one of California’s few remaining fishing fleets. This resort town is dominated by Morro Rock, the seventh in a chain of volcanic peaks called the “Seven Sisters” that follows alongside Highway 1 for twelve miles north of San Luis Obispo. The Rock itself is home to over 250 species of

birds. South toward Morro Bay State Park, near the cliff side Museum of Natural History, great blue herons swoop and roost in the eucalyptus groves. Another must for nature lovers is the Morro Bay Estuary Program, located on the Embarcadero. Try enjoying the bay and its abundant wildlife by kayaking, stand-up paddling or taking a boat tour. Morro Bay’s bustling wharf is great for a stroll while enjoying the many colorful shops, restaurants and ocean-loving activities. Olde Towne Morro Bay is a destination in itself, where you can visit quaint shops and dine on the freshest seafood on the coast.
