connect the compact switchbox

to the indicators.

A single touch of the control is

enough to activate the blinking

signal on the side you want – three

or four times, depending on the

selected sequence.

This is particularly convenient when overtaking: both

leaving and filing back into the lane is clearly indicated by

repeated blinking, just as traffic regulations require. The

vehicles behind you receive sufficient warning, and you

can entirely concentrate on the traffic situation while

overtaking.

What is more, the MT2000 can also be connected to

the central locking system. When the system is activated

– either directly or by remote control - the indicator lights

light up to confirm the locking or unlocking action.

The driver can then be sure that his “command” has

been accepted - a convenience factor that used to be

missing in many series-produced vehicles and could only

be retrofitted individually until now.

The new MagicTouch one-touch indicator control is

functions of “sequence blinking” and “door lock

THIS IS HOW MAGICSPEED WORKS

Once you have reached the desired speed, simply press the SET

button on the MagicSpeed control. The regulator now continuously

compares the speed setting with your actual speed. This is measu-

red by one of two methods: either by a magnetic sensor system

mounted on the prop shaft or drive shaft (MS50), or, optionally, by

the vehicle's original control signals (MS400, MS700 and MS800). In

either case, the cruise control receives an electronic impulse which

serves as the reference signal for the actual speed. As soon as any

discrepancy occurs between the actual speed and the programmed

speed, a correction is automatically made.

Regulation is done by a micro controller that emits a voltage signal.

This electric signal is converted by MagicSpeed's servo unit into a

mechanical up or down movement. The actual speed is then ad-

justed to the desired speed by the fuel flow. MagicSpeed switches

off automatically as soon as you touch one of your pedals.

Following the interruption, you can return to the last set speed sim-

ply by pressing the RESUME button of the MagicSpeed control.

In this way, you no longer have to keep a constant eye on the

speedometer.

the same time: it’s possible with the WAECO head-up

display. The current speed is displayed on a non-reflect-

ing projection film in front of the windscreen – right wit-

hin the driver’s field of view.

A glance at the vehicle speedometer takes about one

second of your concentration. Say you are doing

100km/h, that means you are driving 28 metres – blind!

These metres may be crucial in critical situations …

The system comes with an alarm function that can be

activated to warn you when preset speed limits are

DIGITAL SECURITY MANAGEMENT

The MagicSafe MS670 car alarm combines digital theft protectionwith comprehensive convenience.

This digital security system communicates with your vehicle's CANbus data lines. It recognises, for instance, if doors, tailgate and bonnet are locked or unlocked, and triggers alarm if someone is tam-pering with a door. Additionally, it monitors the interior by means ofultrasonic sensors. The battery-protected backup siren knows nomercy, even if the burglar disconnected it from the onboard powersupply.

A blessing in an emergency is the panic function. It enables you totrigger the alarm by the hand transmitter. When you activate the caralarm, you will automatically lock the central locking system – andunlock it again when you deactivate the unit.

The MS670 is particularly easy to install. Key in a code to programme it to your car, and operate your universal alarm systemsimply with the hand transmitter of your vehicle key.

SMALL PRICE – GREAT EFFECT

Compact and truly inexpensive, the MS150 car alarm providesthreefold protection for your car.

First: an adjustable sensor that triggers alarm upon shock orimpact.

Second: an additional input for the bonnet contact switch and thedoor contact switch.

Third: a voltage monitor that responds when the interior light oranother electric consumer is switched on. ADVANTAGES OF THE MODULAR SYSTEM

Unlike conventional alarm systems that are complete-

ly installed in the engine compartment, the alarm unit

of the MS650 is protected from moisture. Fitted inside

the car, it is out of reach for splash water (heavy rain or

engine wash).

What's more, the modular design offers the opportuni-

ty to connect further additional sensors, e.g. a tilt

sensor, a pager (for radio transmission of the alarm to

the vehicle's owner) or a radio PIR movement sensor.

The tried and tested WAECO MagicSafe MS650 car alarm

satisfies the needs of our most demanding customers. Easy to

install with its modular design, this car alarm system provides

reliable protection from burglary, breaking-in and theft from your

vehicle.

The comprehensive security for inside and out responds immedia-

tely - to movements inside, to the opening of any access, or to the

start of the ignition. If the alarm is triggered, either the car horn or

the siren available as an optional extra sounds for 30 seconds, and

the hazard lights flash. In an acute emergency, you can use the

panic function and trigger alarm by the hand transmitter.

RADIO PIR MOVEMENT SENSOR

Not only your car needs to be protected. Thieves should also keeptheir hands off your camper vehicle, trailer or jet-bag. All youhave to do in these cases is combine the WAECO MagicSafe MS650car alarm with the MS-650PIR wireless movement sensor.

This sensor is able to monitor even larger interiors such as in motor-homes, caravans or garages. MagicSafe MS-650PIR is an additionalsensor, which can be combined with the MS620 and all MS650 caralarms produced from year 2000. The unit consists of a movementsensor and a radio transmitter. In an emergency, the procedure is as

follows: as soon as the sensor identifies a movement, it transmitsa radio signal to the car alarm's base station, which will immedi-ately trigger the alarm.

Unlike with other sensors, there's no need for wiring. – A big advan-tage because the MS-650PIR can easily be moved from one locationto another. During the day, for example, it secures the caravan, whileit will keep an eye on the awning at night, or on the motorhome inthe summer and the garage in the winter, or the trailer during theweek – and at the weekend.

Parking in and out is child’s play with a

Ultrasonic sensors mounted to the rear or front

THE DSM FUNCTION:

DSM stands for Digital Signal Memory, a technical extra incorporated insome MagicWatch systems.

Tyre pressure monitoring systems A constant check on car tyre pressure and temperature

A hidden danger …

On average, a car tyre loses about 0.1 bar air pressure

per month. A fact you will have to keep your eye on, it

is a hidden danger that many motorists underestimate. It

is the reason of 85% of all cases of blow-outs. And that

is a risk that could - and should - be avoided! Moreover,

even a slight deviation from the correct pressure results

in increased tyre wear and fuel consumption.

MagicControl tyre pressure monitoring systems continu-

ously check the air pressure and temperature in all four

tyres - even the spare or a fifth or sixth wheel if neces-

sary. The sensors take a measurement every 3.4 seconds.

A sudden drop in the tyre pressure is immediately

detected and indicated which gives you enough time

to react.

Are the tyre pressure and temperature ok? MagicControlsystems automatically inform the driver of the state of thetyres every time the ignition is switched on and even duringthe journey. Especially comprehensive information is provided by theMTPM200 comfort system. The LCD displays precisely shows allessential parameters with exact reference to each individual tyre.Any deviation from the desired value is indicated immediately –both by a visual and an audible signal.

Battery refresher A refreshing cure for your battery

All car drivers dream of owning an “eternal

battery”, one that will never let them down. Their

dream is reality now, thanks to the battery refresher.

The super-compact appliance reduces sulphate build-up,

which is so often the cause for premature failure of lead

cell batteries. Even apparently useless batteries can be

given a second life. The refresher can be permanently

connected to the vehicle battery. It treats the battery to an

invigorating training programme – fully automatically,

while you are driving. When you switch the ignition

off, the integrated voltage monitor deactivates the

appliance.

The battery refresher is suitable for all types of 12-volt

batteries. Ideal for passenger cars, it can also be used on

motorhomes and boats. Given the long periods of stand-

still, the batteries in those vehicles are particularly

susceptible to sulphate build-up.

SULPHATE BUILD-UP - THE INSIDIOUS POISON TO YOUR BATTERY

The premature failure of lead batteries is caused by a chemical process known as sulphate build-up. Lead sulphate tends to form crystal deposits on the battery plates. Asa result, the effective plate surface decreases, and with it the battery's capacity and starting ability. A battery charger won't help in this situation. Given the reduced plate surface, the battery will be unable to take up sufficient power.

The battery refresher tackles the problem at the roots by reducing sulphate build-up. Itsupplies the battery with direct current impulses. As a result, the sulphate crystals startoscillating and decomposing; there's no chance for new crystals to form. The plate surface increases again. The battery's charging capacity is restored to the full.

designed for efficient recharging of 12-volt lead

pact, the BC400 is “just right” for permanent installation

in motorhomes or boats. The unit has four fixing attach-

What do you do when the car battery gives up on

you, the engine won't start, and there is nobody

Manufacturers and suppliers of products to be used or fitted in motor vehicles bear a great deal of respon-

sibility. Being a DIN EN ISO 9001 certified business, we take this responsibility seriously, unlike some cheap

suppliers around.

Our customers can be absolutely sure that WAECO products meet the relevant legal require-

ments and are certified for the intended use. Watch out for the corresponding test marks, you

will find them on the products as well as in the product specifications in this catalogue.

Fitting non-approved parts or accessories is a risky

venture. In the worst case, you can lose the operating

permit for your vehicle or put your insurance coverage

at stake. It is therefore advisable to watch out for the

test marks explained on the following page when

buying automotive accessories. These test marks con-

firm that the product in question will not interfere

with the highly complex electronic components inte-

grated in modern vehicles. Airbags, immobilisers,

satellite-based navigation systems, anti-lock brakes,

traction controls or Electronic Stability Programmes

will only work properly if they don't interfere with

each other. All components (WAECO retrofit accesso-

ries are no exception) must be resistant to interfer-

ence from other components. For this is the only way

to ensure you can rely on your vehicle in every situa-

tion.

organisations to ensure the use of interference

The e-mark

R&TTE, EMC, e and E – what does it all mean?

R&TTE stands for "Radio and Telecommunications TerminalEquipment" and refers to the European Directive 1999/5/EC on radioequipment and telecommunications terminal equipment and themutual recognition of their conformity. All products falling under thatdirective must not be operated until they have been approved accord-ingly. Equipment intended for use in motor vehicles is additionallysubject to EMC regulations as described further below.

What does that means for consumers? The directive clearly stipu-lates that all relevant products must be tested, certified and declaredaccordingly (see self declaration shown in the photo below). If one ofthese requirements is not met, the product in question must not bedistributed, neither to traders nor to consumers.

This rule is often violated, e.g. by small enterprises importing non-complying commodities and reselling them on flea markets, oneBay, etc. Consumers who have bought such commodities are entitled to cancel the purchase and get their money back. If they

have, unaware of the implications, fitted such products in their vehicles and problems occur, they have the right to claim recoveryagainst the vendor, and the vendor against the supplier.

Unfortunately, buyers quite often face the "worst case scenario"where the vendor or importer has gone out of business and thedamage is left to the consumer. Therefore, when it comes to buyingaccessories intended for use in motor vehicles, it is advisable to optfor brand-name products. These products come with all necessaryapprovals and certifications so that consumers can rest assured they have bought a quality product that won't interfere with othercomponents fitted in the vehicle.

Naturally, this also goes for the safety and convenience accesso-ries offered by WAECO. Tested inside out, they meet all legalrequirements and provide superior quality. You can rely on it.

"e" and "E" are two slightly different test marks. Both mean thatthe products they mark are EMV-approved (EMV = electromagneticcompatibility) and therefore suitable for use in motor vehicles.Electronic components that have neither of these test marks are notpermitted for use in vehicles with running engine (ready-to-operatevehicles).

With the entrance into force of the new directive 2004/104/EC, twomajor changes have been made. First: products introduced into com-merce for the first time at a date from July 1st 2006 onwards, mustalso be tested for electromagnetic immunity in addition to electro-magnetic emissions. Second: Certification and product marking arerequired only for safety-relevant products. Reversing video systemsand parking aids are examples that fall into this category, and gener-ally all products that might impact the driver. Where such impacts areunlikely to occur – e.g. with car coolers – there's no need for certifica-tion.

However, this does not relieve manufacturers or importers from theirobligation to have the product tested to the above mentioned direct-ive. Certification may then be replaced by a self-declaration, similar aswith the CE-mark.

Products introduced into commerce for the first time at a date beforeJuly 1st 2006 may be distributed unchanged by January 1st 2009. Tobe introduced into commerce at a later date, they will have to betested and certified to the above mentioned directive.
