    • There are no large discrepancies between most of the sub groups in grades 3-6. When discrepancies are seen it tends to be within the Black and ELL groups. Most of the differences are less than 15% different. Some differences between subgroups are shown by the chart below:
  • 32. The gaps in the Black and ELL sub groups tends to become wider as you look at 7th grade and beyond with the differences ranging from 12% to over 40%. The chart below shows some of the areas of concern:
  • 33. More MEAP data
    • 5th grade has improved in reading every year with a 45% improvement or significant improvement of all students. However, the math and science scores went down over the last year.
    • 6th grade scores remained the same in math and only decreased 1% in Social Studies. However, reading scores went down almost 20 % over the last year from 97% passing to 79%.
    • 7th grade math and Reading scores decreased by 3 and 4% respectively. Also, only 39 % of students passed the writing portion of the 2010 MEAP.
    • 8th grade scores in all areas dropped from the previous year. Reading scores had increased steadily until this year, falling from 87% passing in 2009 to 79% in 2010. Math scores have decreased 7% since 2008. Science scores have decreased 3% since 2008.
