Monumental Masons
Usually families hire a monumental mason to design and supply a monument or inscription. On your behalf the mason must ensure that the design is approved by the cemetery and obtain the
necessary permits before any work commences.
General Information:
• All masonry work proposed is subject to prior approval by the cemetery and all work is to be consistent with Australian Standard, AS 4020 – 1994(Headstones and Cemetery Monuments) and cemetery guidelines.
• Headstones, monuments or inscriptions must be installed through a monumental mason who is registered to work within Catholic Cemeteries. A list of registered Monumental Masons is available for the Cemetery Office. NB: Catholic Cemeteries & Crematoria does not endorse or recommend anyone specific Monumental
Mason. The Cemetery take no responsibility for your choice of Monumental Mason or any work the Mason does.
• The Cemetery will only grant a monumental permit with the consent of the grave/crypt Burial Licence
owner.
• The Cemetery reserves the right to remove without notice, any unauthorised works, excessive or incorrectly placed monuments.
• The Cemetery is not liable for the future care, maintenance, preservation, conservation or restoration of monuments. Monuments and other memorials arranged directly with a mason remain the responsibility of the Burial Licence owner.
