Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you for coming to our Parent Consultation Meetings this week, I hope they were
helpful to you. There is always a lovely atmosphere in school during the meetings and I
was pleased to hear so many positive reports. Thank you!
This year we are continuing to develop French and German as part of the 1+2 Modern Languages Programme. A
group of parents and staff are working with me to ensure we achieve our aims for the session and make modern
languages fun and exciting for all the children and staff, whist ensuring the highest standard of enunciation of
French and German. The lessons I have observed this session have shown the children and staff are keen to
develop their skills and are fully committed to their modern languages.
We are also updating our Positive Behaviour and Anti Bullying Policies and Procedures in line with updates from
Rights
Respecting Schools and the Better Learning, Better Relationships Document. Thank you to parents who have
offered to help with this. We shall continue our consultation with you through Newsletters and by email.
P6 outdoor learning at school camp at Lagganlia Outdoor Education Centre, was a great success, well done P6s.
Thank you to all staff and parents who helped make this a wonderful experience for everyone.
P7 Camp extends this experience by camping outside for a night! If you are in P5 this year, you have a lot to look
forward to!
We continue to promote healthy eating in school. Staff encourage all children to bringing healthy snacks for break
and lunch and to eat vegetables, salads and fruit at lunchtime. There is always fruit, salad and / or vegetables as
part of their school lunch. Please help us by encouraging your child to always eat some fruit and veg, as part of
their lunch, to make up their ‘5 a day’.
As Autumn is with us, please remind children to always bring a coat, even if it is bright and sunny in the morning,
the weather can suddenly change!
Thank you to all who came to the Parent Council AGM and for volunteering your time so generously.
Our Parent Council do a terrific job organising clubs, social events, fundraising, associated, finances, chairing our
council and taking minutes. I appreciate all the support and help they give Bruntsfield pupils, parents and staff.
Thank you.
If you have any concerns, queries or compliments you would like to discuss with any of our school staff please let
us know. We are all here to help. Remember, no concern is too small to share!
Kind regards,
Carol Kyle

To Find My Father by Stephen
I taste sweet fear building in my throat
I feel sharp thorns and splinters
sticking into me I hear my own feet crunching on dry
leaves I see trees bursting from the darkness
I smell rotting carcases from the guns destruction
NIGHT TIME FEAR by Ailsa I see the huge trees towering high above me
I the lovely fresh air of the wood
I hear the trees whispering secrets to each
other very close to me
I taste the beautiful scent the newly cut
grass creates
I the thorny leaves of the dark green
hedge
The Deep Dark Wood
By Amber
I can hear the echo of my
voice in the deep dark wood.
I can taste the fear on the
tip of my tongue as my
heart raced.
I can feel the prickly pieces
of the bush on my ragged
clothes.
I can smell the beautiful
fresh air in the wood.
I can see the huge old trees
crowding over me.
