“...Where is the One who has been born

King of the Jews? We saw His star in the

east and have come to worship

Him.” (Matthew 2:2)

One of my favorite activities during December is to

drive around and look at the Christmas lights. Who

doesn’t enjoy the festive colors, the brightness,

the hope they represent in the middle of winter? In

such lights, we are emulating the “Light of the

world,” whose birth we celebrate, Jesus Christ.

Pastor Charles Mallory created an acronym using

this imagery and the idea of light and how we can

emulate Christ in our lives. The first letter:

Promiseland Preschool Notes

The preschool has been very busy in November. We have learned about the meaning of Thanksgiving and talked about pilgrims and Indians. We made Indian hats and turkeys. Our letters for the month were Ii and Tt and we learned the numbers 4 and 5. We also held parent teacher conferences during the week of 17th –21st. Parents were able to take home their child’s portfolio, look at the assessments that have been done on the children and see their progress. We also worked together with the parents to set educational goals for their children for the next few months. The preschools last day for Thanksgiving break will be Tuesday, November 25th and they will return on Tuesday, December 2nd. The preschool collected canned goods for the Cadiz Food Pantry during November and will present it to Betty and Edna Morris at the children's Thanksgiving feast on November 24th. In December the children will learn the meaning of Christmas. We will learn the letters J and R and the numbers 6 and 7. We will make a nativity scene and other Christmas crafts. Santa Claus will come and visit the children on the 18th and 19th when we have our Christmas parties. Our last day of school for Christmas break is December 19th and we return on January 5th, 2015. The children will be singing in church on December 14th during the morning worship. They have been working very hard learning their songs and are excited to sing for the church. The preschool will also be in the Cadiz Christmas Parade on December 6th at 6:00pm. Be sure to look for us and wave to all the children.

Merry Christmas

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

L = represents loving your neighbor as yourself. This is a command from the Lord, not a suggestion. I = represents imitating Christ. The Greek word for imitate means “to duplicate,” or “to follow”. We many be the only Jesus some ever see. We owe it to Him to be an accurate representative. G = represents getting to know others. How desperately the world needs those who reach out to others in friendship. We are told to invest in others. It is an investment that will pay eternal dividends. H = represents hospitality. In the ancient world, it was a duty to welcome strangers and provide them with anything they need. Are you a welcoming person? T = represents telling other of Jesus. So many family and friends invested in me and told me about Jesus. I probable would not be a pastor today; I likely would not be a Christian today, if others had not told me about Jesus. This December, emulating the “Bright and Morning Star”, let your light shine before all people. Merry Christmas!

Save your greeting cards: The Green Valley 4-H club is collecting all types

of greeting cards to repurpose into tray favors for

the Veteran’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. They use

birthday, wedding, get well, Easter, Christmas,

etc. to make a veteran’s day special. Please

remember to take off the back of the card with the

name. If you have envelopes or calendars, they

would appreciate those as well. There is a bin on

the table in the narthex for all donations. This

will be an ongoing project for our church, so save

those cards all year long.

S.W.A.T. NEWS Hello church family and God’s many blessings to you. Again, I can start this letter by reporting amazing things happening with the youth of the church. We are well over 50 soldiers in the group now and continuing to move. God is blessings us in more ways than I can write you in this short letter. Just know that your continued prayers are appreciated. The kids and I are doing several activities in December. With the addition to our SWAT nights on Thursday we’ll be having a Christmas Party and an all night lock-in. We’ll also be going to a concert in Pittsburgh on January 31. With the addition of so many soldiers in SWAT now I’m always looking for new and excited sponsors to help me. Help me with what you ask? Helping me train them up in the Lord is obviously most important. I also need help in transporting them places, and just assisting me with events. Given the number of people in our congregation this shouldn’t be much of a challenge. If you’re interested please come and see me whenever is good for you.

Christmas Greetings On behalf of myself and the

youth of the church we would like to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy

New Year. As I think about the gift God has given in our Lord Jesus Christ my heart is overwhelmed with

thanks. Always keep Christ first not just at Christmas time, but

the whole year long. Now may the Lord bless and

keep you and make His face to shine upon you and give you His

peace. May you discover this Christmas that Jesus is all the

gift you’ll ever need.
