The 2011 Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship forms and

applications are now available on the 99s website, http://

www.ninety-nines.org. Click on "AE Memorial Scholar-

ships" under the heading "Resource Center." Completed ap-

plications must reach your Chapter AE Scholarship Chair-

man by December 1, 2010.

On August 14, 1965, our Monterey Bay chapter began. Due to

the many activities planned for this past August we decided to

celebrate our 45th anniversary this month instead of in August.

Congratulations to all of us for 45 years of active flying, and liv-

ing up to The Ninety-Nines mission statement to “Promote world

fellowship through flight, Provide networking and scholarship

opportunities for women, Preserve the unique history of women

in aviation.”

Whether you are a recent chapter member or one of our charter

members, thanks for your support and participation in this volun-

teer organization. We have much to be proud of in our accom-

plishments as a chapter over the years.

In addition, recently at the fall section meeting I learned that the

Southwest Section of The Ninety-Nines is 80 years old this

month. It started on November 1, 1930.

This is a strong heritage for us to continue to honor. Be proud of

all that we, The 99s, do!

See you at our 50th Anniversary scheduled for Friday, August 14,

2015

Monterey Bay 99s Membership Meeting Minutes October 20, 2010

Attendance: Theresa Levandoski-Byers, Carolgene Dierolf, Geneva Cranford, Michaele Serasio, Kryss Crocker, Jody Roberts, Ann Goldsmith, Laura Barnett, Donna Crane-Bailey, Alice Talnack, Sarah Chauvet, Nic Kinsman, Mona Kendrick, Teri Mantz, and guests Mary Doherty and Alex Solano. Alex Solano of the WVI EAA chapter invited us to make a protective cover for the popcorn machine. He would like the EAA 116 logo also to be included. Will put the matter on the November agenda. Geneva Cranford will bring back a design and estimate to the January meeting. Membership biography project: tonight’s question is “What did you learn from that?” Outgoing chapter chairman Michaele Serasio was presented by Donna Crane-Bailey with an inscribed propeller ornament as a gesture of our appreciation for her service. Treasurer’s report: On file. Secretary’s report: Mona Kendrick read September meeting minutes. Corrected to include names of those attending Southwest Section meeting (Donna Crane-Bailey, Alice Talnack, Michaele Serasio, Theresa Levandoski-Byers), and to indicate Mary Doherty was a guest at Sept. meeting. Other Reports and Unfinished Business: Alice Talnack reported on SW Section meeting. Donna update on 45th Anniversary Dinner: she has heard back from some of the past scholarship winners. Alice: we are contracted for an attendance of 60 people at $35 each but not many people have responded. To get full return of deposit if cancelling, must cancel 30 days in advance. Consensus of discussion: Alice should renegotiate for a lower attendance, perhaps 30. New Business: Alice: handout of Robert’s Rules of Order tip sheet on how to do a motion, with explanation of rationale as a review. Donna: definition of quorum according to by-laws (51% of members present for ordinary business, two thirds of membership for bylaw changes). Possible Chapter bylaws updates to be presented at January meeting. Scholarship Committee: Chair Carolgene Dierolf moved that outgoing chapter chair should be a liaison to the Scholarship Committee to report to the chapter. Jody Roberts seconded the motion. Motion unani-mously passed. SNS airmarking: Nic Kinsman passed around schematic for compass rose painting at Salinas Airport. Membership agreed on Nov. 13, with Nov. 20 as rain date. November meeting to be a movie night with no regular business meeting; will watch Amelia DVD. Guests are invited. December meeting will be our annual Holiday Potluck and White Reindeer gift exchange. Meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m. Mona Kendrick Secretary

"Fly the Bay Tour" Topic: Nothing’s more fun than flying the S.F. Bay Tour.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 7:15 PM

Location: Wings of History Museum, 12777 Murphy Ave, San Martin, CA 95046

Select Number: WP1535043

Description: Flying the Bay Tour is fun, but it makes sense to plan ahead before you launch on your tour. There are

many considerations, including the routes and altitudes to be flown, ATC communications, required clearances, and

weather issues. You’ll always want to consider in advance any alternatives, in case you are unable to execute your origi-

nal plan.

Chapter dues are $15. Make check payable to Monterey Bay 99s and send to

Sarah Chauvet , 147 Mesa Verde Dr , Watsonville, CA 95076 Our local dues run from June 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011
