MoneySteps Path to Financial Independence Financial wellbeing means different things to different people. Regardless of how you define it, MoneySteps can help you get there. Here is a simple path that illustrates the steps you can take on your journey to financial wellness!

1. Cash Flow Management (Budget)Ah, Basecamp. Time to pack and prepare for your journey. You’re at the starting point, the place to build your future foundation. We’ll start with immediate needs such as making sure your income and expenses are aligned. Challenge yourself to come up with creative ideas to incorporate what’s important to you into your plan. All journeys have challenges, so we want to make sure that you can enjoy the ride.

Protection (Emergencies and Insurance)Here at the Trailhead, let’s prioritize the gear we may need before setting out. In our financial journey, there will certainly be some surprises, bumps in the road and unexpected challenges – often at the time we are most vulnerable. That’s why we’ll work to set aside money for small emergencies, develop a contingency fund for job or income interruptions, and protect ourselves with insurance against health and medical care, disabilities or even unexpected death.

4. Growth (Planning and Investing)Having passed the tree line, it’s easy to see the landscape and the big picture. Time to take stock of where we’ve been, what we’ve covered, and the financial foundation we’ve built while streamlining our gear. We’re feeling good with our processes and the momentum we’re generating. Our savings have grown, debt is diminishing and momentum is building. It’s time to make sure that our assets are working hard for us and supporting our values and goals.

3. Increasing Net Worth (Saving and Paying Off Debt)Now that we’re on the trail, let’s discover how to thrive in the thick of it. We’ll develop a better understanding of the resources surrounding us and what it will take to continue on. We can start stocking up on what we need and reducing what we don’t. We’ll focus on building up savings, allocating money for investments and what that will mean for our future financial wellness. We’ll prioritize strategies to pay off debt so we can advance on our financial journey unimpeded.

5. Independence (Work Freedom, Distribution, Preservation and Legacy)

What seemed and looked imposing and intimidating from Basecamp is now a reality! By planning, packing and continually putting one foot in front of the other you are here. What a massive achievement. You’ve managed cash flow, saved money, invested and opened up a world of choices. You now have the financial freedom and independence to think about working on your terms or retiring, supporting family and continuing to check off items from your bucket list. This freedom of choice is just the beginning, and MoneySteps is excited to help you continue to navigate the next steps in your journey.
