MONDAY, AUGUST 29, 2016 AT BOSTON RED SOX RH Matt Andriese (6-5, 3.71) vs. RH Rick Porcello (17-3, 3.23) ROSTER MOVES—The Rays today optioned RH Steve Geltz to Triple-A Durham and activated RH Alex Cobb (May 2015 Tommy John surgery) from the disabled list…when Cobb starts at home vs. Toronto this weekend, it will be his first major league start since Sep 28, 2014 at CLE—a game Kevin Cash watched as the Indians bullpen coach…Cobb made a total of 8 rehab starts between Class-A Charlotte and Durham, most recently for Durham on Saturday vs. Gwinnett (Braves)…in that game he totaled 4 IP, 5 H, 1 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, 1 HR, 58 pitches, 44 strikes. RAY MATTER—The Rays arrive in Boston for the second half of a 6-game road trip, after losing 2 of 3 games in Houston over the weekend…yes- terday the cruised to a 10-4 win to avoid being swept for the 10th time this season…it was their sixth time since the All-Star break (in 41 games) scoring double-digit runs, after doing so only four times in 88 games prior to the break…8 of those 10 total games scoring double digits have come on the road…the Elias Sports Bureau notes it was the seventh game since the All-Star break in which the Rays have had an inning of at least 5 runs, tied with Colorado for most in the majors…the Rays have won 9 of their last 14 games (since Aug 14) and are 17-13 since July 27, when they were a season-most 20.0 GB in the AL East.
