PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

The Wisconsin Trapshooting Association Board of Directors, officers, staff and many volunteers join in welcoming competitors and their families to the 122nd state championship. We are host to the third largest state trap shoot in the country and welcome resident and non-resident shooters competing for All American team points. We will be open on Monday for classification, squadding, practice and marathon targets will be available to provide shooters an opportunity to get their target requirements in. There are special activities scheduled throughout the week. A sincere thank you to all committees, volunteers, vendors, donors, Nekoosa area schools, and WTA members for making this shoot a success. A special thank you to event sponsors for their continued support. As we continue to follow health safety protocols, we wish for everyone to stay healthy, travel safely, shoot well and have fun. A huge thank you to everyone attending our state shoot. Fritz Thistle, WTA President

This certifies that the Wisconsin Trapshooting Association has been authorized to hold an ATA Registered Shoot at

the WTA Shooting Complex and Learning Center in Rome, Wisconsin, July 13 thru July 18, 2021.

Lynn Gipson, Executive Director, ATA

The Directors of the Wisconsin Trapshooting Association reserve the right to change the program as conditions warrant and to reject any entry without explanation. The entire program is conducted by the WTA. In the event of trap breakdowns or other circumstances which could impede the progress of this shoot, the Directors of the WTA reserve the right to move squads to other than their starting locations to efficiently expedite the completion of events. In the event of a dispute over interpretation of this program, the decision of the Directors of the WTA shall govern.

WTA Zero Tolerance Policy—There will be zero tolerance of any shooter or observer interfering with the shoot by abusing any shooter, WTA Director, Officer, or employee in any way; unauthorized operation of equipment or partaking of alcoholic beverages prior to shooting, including shoot offs. This behavior will result in an immediate and automatic request to leave the grounds, disqualification of scores, and forfeiture of any entry fees paid. This will be enforced!

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Participants in this Championship Tournament must be current members of the Amateur Trapshooting Association. Wisconsin residents must also be current members of the Wisconsin Trapshooting Association. All participants must meet the following minimum target requirements: Shooters not meeting the minimum requirements will be assigned, at a minimum, the class and/or yardage shown in the table below, based on their gender or special category declaration. Shooters with 16 yard and/or doubles averages at or exceeding the minimum penalty class will be penalized a minimum of one class. Shooters with current handicap yardage at or exceeding the minimum penalty yardage will be penalized a minimum of two yards, not to exceed 25 yards or current yardage, whichever is greater.

Penalty class and/or yardage will apply to all events. Tuesday’s preliminary targets may be used to meet the minimum requirements. Shooters must request reclassification.

CLASSIFICATION It is the shooter’s responsibility to ensure they are properly classified and handicapped. Failure to do so will result in disqualification and/or suspension. All shooters will be subject to review prior to shoot offs or awarding of trophies, purses, options and added money.

ENTRY PROCEDURE - PLEASE READ The grounds will be open at Noon on Monday, July 12 for classification, squadding, cashiering, exhibitor set-up and camper set-up, practice shooting and Marathon Monday. In order to expedite the shoot, please follow the entry procedure in the following order:

Memberships - Before you can make any entries, all shooters must be a current ATA member and in addition, Wisconsin residents must be a WTA member. If you need an ATA or WTA membership or renewal, go directly to the cashier’s counter. The WTA $10.00 annual membership must be paid and sticker on ATA card in order to classify. You are now required to have your plastic ATA card and paper averages for classifying, squadding, cashiering and the collection of event payoffs.

Classification - All shooters, whether pre-squadded or not, must start at classification. Present your plastic ATA card and ATA paper average card to a member of the Classification Committee at the classification table. Your paper average card must be presented and up to date or you will not be classified! They will enter your classification, yardage and any special category for which you declare into the computer system. If you do not have a plastic ATA card or ATA number, then the computer will assign a temporary Shooter Number. Otherwise your ATA Number is your Shooter Number. Do not misplace this number as it will be required for squadding and cashiering.

Squadding - If you have pre-squadded for this shoot at presquad.com beginning May 1 at noon CST, you may proceed directly to the cashier’s counter. Otherwise, proceed to the squadding table and stand in the line for the event(s) that you wish to enter. Present your plastic ATA card or Shooter Number to the squadding personnel. They will enter your squadding infor-mation into the computer system. You will not receive any paper entry cards. Shooters must take an available position or squad that’s open in the next available flight of squads. There is a limit of one full squad per shooter per event. The only exception will be for shooters that are handicapped. Any shooter or group of shooters found trying to circumvent these procedures by requesting multiple squads and/or positions will have their entries refused and could be subject to further disqualifica-tion from an event or from the entire tournament. To ensure your shooting times and positions, the use of presquad.com is recommended. Please note: The trapline is arranged into 14 banks of trapfields with 14 starting points. Bank A is at the East end and Bank N is at the West end of the trapline. Fifty targets will be shot per trap for all singles, handicap and doubles events. Charts showing the starting locations for squad numbers will be made available and posted about the grounds.

Cashiering - Present your plastic ATA card or Shooter Number to personnel at the cash-ier’s counter. They will ask which purses and options that you wish to play. Please make this deci-sion in advance, as no additions or withdrawals will be allowed for any event after you have cash-iered. Checks will be accepted for the amount of shooting fees only. Make checks payable to the WTA. No two party checks or endorsements. A $50.00 fee will be charged on all bad checks. There are no refunds unless an event is cancelled.

All pre-squad positions for all events each day will be held until 30 minutes prior to the first event of the day. After that time, presquadded positions not yet cashiered for that day will be cancelled and opened to all shooters.

Sub-Junior/Junior Entry: Shooters under 18 years of age are offered targets at a re-duced rate of $25.00 per 100 only if purses and/or options are not played. These Sub-Juniors/Juniors are still eligible for trophies and added money if their score so qualifies them.

Event Payoffs - Payoff checks will be available after noon the next day. You must present your plastic ATA card or Shooters Number to cashier personnel in order to receive any event payoffs. Announcements will be made or posted daily as to the availability of payoffs. All pay-offs not made at the shoot will be mailed within 10 days. No payoff check $600.00 or greater will be issued unless we have a W9 SS# Request Form on file or the shooter fills out one before receiving their check.

THE CASHIER’S COUNTER WILL OPEN ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE SHOOT START TIMES & CLOSE AT 4:00 PM DAILY.

FEES - Daily fees of ATA $3.00 and WTA $3.00 will be added to your first entry of each day.

SQUAD HUSTLING Check in with the squad hustler at your starting trap and sign in on your squad sheet at the starting trap scorer’s bench. At each of the starting locations, the number of the squad that is actually

shooting is posted on the scorer’s bench. We Do Not Call Squad Numbers On The PA System. No shooter will be allowed to make up more than one sub-event on make up practice traps 17 or 18. If you are unable to join your squad before they have started their second sub-event, you must be resquadded and pay a $20.00 resquadding fee. If you miss one sub-event, you must report to a WTA Director and make up the sub-event on a practice trap.

TARGET SETTING Targets will be set each morning. Only authorized WTA personnel may reset targets. Any unauthorized person observed resetting targets may be disqualified from that event.

SHOOT OFFS Shoot offs will begin immediately following the last event of each day and will be conducted according to ATA guidelines. All shooters should be ready to shoot at that time. Handicap shoot offs will be held on the day of the event. Singles and Doubles ties will be carried over until the last respective event of the tournament. Contestants will be called over the PA to report for check-in, which is in the northwest corner of the entry building. Those shooters who have not reported by third call or are not promptly at their assigned field when called will be disqualified from the shoot offs. Shoot offs will be under the sole discretion of the Shoot Off Manager. All shoot off determinations and decisions will be made by the manager or his appointed staff and will be final.

Note: No Shooter may win more than one trophy per event, except the concurrent awards of Husband/Wife, Parent/Child, AIM Awards.

ATA RULE - SPECIAL CATEGORIES: All Ladies I and II, Sub-Juniors, Juniors, Junior Gold, Sub-Veterans, Veterans, and Senior Veterans must declare their special category at the time of classification in any registered tournament if they wish to compete as a category shooter. Without such declaration, the contestant will not be allowed to compete for the applicable category trophy. No contestant will be allowed to declare or change a special declaration after firing his/her first shot. There will be no exceptions to this rule. The following rules apply to shooters who have declared a special category. At all tournaments where All-American points will be awarded in any event, shooters may declare only one category. Note: Chair shooters are exempt from this rule. Shooters who become eligible for new age-based categories during the target year may elect to continue to compete in the previous category for the remainder of that target year. For example, a shooter reaching age 70 may elect to continue to shoot as a Veteran for the remainder of the current target year. However, once a shooter has elected to move to the new category, that decision is irrevocable and he/she may not again declare eligibility for the previous category. Junior shooters reaching the age of 18 may continue to declare Junior category for the remainder of the current target year.

PRACTICE TRAPS Practice will be available each day on traps 17 and 18. Tickets must be purchased at the cashier’s counter and are not refundable if not used. The cost is $6.00 per 25 targets for singles or handicap and $6.00 per 12 pair of targets for doubles. Make your entry at the practice traps. Practice times will be posted and announced each day.

ATTENDANCE PINS Attendance pins will be issued to contestants at the classification table. Your average card will be punched or marked upon receipt of pin. Please, only one pin per shooter. If there are extras at the end of the shoot, they will be made available at that time. Past State Shoot pins are available at $1.00 each.

100 & 200 PINS Shooters breaking 100 or 200 straight targets without carryover will be awarded a 100 or 200 straight pin. Only one such pin will be awarded per individual at the State Shoot. Please report your squad and position number at classification.

“BUCKY BADGER” 100 & 200 AWARDS Shooters breaking 100 or 200 straight targets for the first time during the Wisconsin State Trapshooting Championships in only the Singles, Doubles and Handicap Championship Events will receive a special “Bucky Badger” Award. This award is limited to one per lifetime. Please inquire at classification
