I lift up my eyes to the mountains: from where shall come my help?My help shall come from the Lord who made heaven and earth.

May he never allow you to stumble! Let him sleep not, your guard.No, he sleeps not nor slumbers, Israel’s guard.

The Lord is your guard and your shade; at your right side he stands.By day the sun shall not smite you nor the moon in the night.

The Lord will guard you from evil, he will guard your soul.The Lord will guard your going and coming both now and forever.

The word is very near to you, it is on your lips and in your heart: the word, that is, of the faith we proclaim. He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.

He has made known to us in all wisdom and insight the mystery of his will, according to his purpose which he set forth in Christ.

His purpose he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time,to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! He has visited his people and redeemed them. He has raised up for us a mighty saviour in the house of David his servant.

A saviour who would free us from our foes, from the hands of all who hate us.So his love for our fathers is fulfilled and his holy covenant remembered.

As for you, little child, you shall be called a prophet of God, the Most High. You shall go ahead of the Lord to prepare his ways before him.

He will give light to those in darkness, those who dwell in the shadow of death, and guide us into the way of peace.

God raised Jesus from the dead, and for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied him from Galilee to Jerusalem: and it is these same companions of his who are now his witnesses before our people. You are no longer foreign visitors: you are citizens like all the saints, and part of God’s household.
