Morning PrayerMonday 10 May

Ant. May he never allow you to stumble! Alleluia.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains: from where shall come my help?My help shall come from the Lord who made heaven and earth.

May he never allow you to stumble! Let him sleep not, your guard. No, he sleeps not nor slumbers, Israel’s guard.

The Lord is your guard and your shade; at your right side he stands.By day the sun shall not smite you nor the moon in the night.

The Lord will guard you from evil, he will guard your soul. The Lord will guard your going and coming both now and forever.

Ant. May he never allow you to stumble! Alleluia.

Scripture readingA reading from Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans

The word is very near to you, it is on your lips and in your heart: the word, that is, of the faith we proclaim. If your lips confess that Jesus is Lord and if you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you will be saved. By believing from the heart you are made righteous; by confessing with your lips you are saved.

Intercessions

God, Father of light, you have enlightened the world with the glory of Christ; may the light of faith shine in our lives today.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us

Through the resurrection of your Son you have opened our way to everlasting life; may all our work today be filled with the hope of your kingdom.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us

Through your risen Son you sent the Holy Spirit into the world; set our hearts on fire with his divine love.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come.Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive those who trespass against us,and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.Amen.

Concluding prayer

God of mercy, let the mystery we celebrate at Eastertide bear fruit for us in every season.Amen.

Afternoon PrayerMonday 10 May

Ant. From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. Alleluia.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.

He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.

He has made known to us in all wisdom and insight the mystery of his will, according to his purpose which he set forth in Christ.

His purpose he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time,to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Ant. From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. Alleluia.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruitof thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.Amen.

Concluding prayer

God of mercy, let the mystery we celebrate at Eastertide bear fruit for us in every season.Amen.

Morning PrayerTuesday 11 May

Ant. In a short time the world will no longer see me; but you will see me, because I live and you will live. Alleluia.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! He has visited his people and redeemed them. He has raised up for us a mighty saviour in the house of David his servant.

A saviour who would free us from our foes, from the hands of all who hate us.So his love for our fathers is fulfilled and his holy covenant remembered.

As for you, little child, you shall be called a prophet of God, the Most High. You shall go ahead of the Lord to prepare his ways before him.

He will give light to those in darkness, those who dwell in the shadow of death, and guide us into the way of peace.

Ant. In a short time the world will no longer see me; but you will see me, because I live and you will live. Alleluia.

Scripture readingA reading from the Acts of the Apostles

God raised Jesus from the dead, and for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied him from Galilee to Jerusalem: and it is these same companions of his who are now his witnesses before our people. We have come here to tell you the Good News. It was to our ancestors that God made the promise but it is to us, their children, that he has fulfilled it, by raising Jesus from the dead. As scripture says in the second psalm: You are my son: today I have become your father.

Intercessions

Father, be mindful of your Son, who died on the cross and was raised again to life; hear him interceding for us now.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us

May we overcome all envy and anger; help us to take care of our brothers and sisters in need.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us

Place deep in our hearts the spirit of the gospel; may it inspire us to keep your commandments today and always.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us

Lord God, grant your people constant joy. They rejoice because you have restored them to the glory of your adopted children: let them look forward gladly n the certain hope of resurrection.Amen.

Afternoon PrayerTuesday 11 May

Ant. Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power, the glory and the victory. Alleluia.

Worthy are you, our Lord and God to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.

Worthy are you, O Lord, to take the scroll and open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honour and glory and blessing.

Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power, the glory and the victory. Alleluia.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruitof thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.Amen.

Concluding prayer

Lord God, grant your people constant joy. They rejoice because you have restored them to the glory of your adopted children: let them look forward gladly n the certain hope of resurrection.Amen.

Morning PrayerWednesday 12 May

Ant. Light shines forth for the just, and joy for the upright of heart. Alleluia.

The Lord is king, let earth rejoice, let all the coastlands be glad.Cloud and darkness are his clothing; his throne, justice and right.

For you indeed are the Lord most high above all the earth, exalted far above all spirits.

The Lord loves those who hate evil; he guards the souls of his saints; he sets them free from the wicked.

Light shines forth for the just and joy for the upright of heart.Rejoice, you just, in the Lord; give glory to his holy name.

Ant. Light shines forth for the just, and joy for the upright of heart. Alleluia.

Scripture readingA reading from Saint Paul’s letter to the Romans

We believe that having died with Christ we shall return to life with him: Christ, as we know, having been raised from the dead will never die again. Death has no power over him any more. When he died, he died, once for all, to sin, so his life now is life with God; and in that way, you too must consider yourselves to be dead to sin but alive for God in Christ Jesus.

Intercessions

Father, we praise you today with grateful hearts, because you have called us into your own marvellous light; help us always to see your loving-kindness.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

May we pour out our lives in the service of others: bless our efforts, that the whole of humanity may become closer to you.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

At the start of the day fill our hearts with your love; let the praise of your glory be the joy of our lives.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

Concluding prayerGod and Father, we honour the yearly feast of your Son’s resurrection by celebrating it in the sacramental mystery. Give us likewise the grace to rejoice with all the saints when he comes in glory.Amen.

Afternoon PrayerWednesday 12 May

Ant. The Lord Jesus ascended into heaven, where he is seated at the right hand of the Father. Alleluia.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

O God, you are my God, for you I long; for you my soul is thirsting.I long for you like a dry, weary land without water.

Scripture readingA reading from the letter to the Hebrews

Christ has offered one single sacrifice for sins, and then taken his place forever, at the right hand of God, where he is now waiting until his enemies are made into a footstool for him. By virtue of that one single offering, he has achieved the eternal perfection of all whom he is sanctifying.

Intercessions

Lord Jesus, you offered one sacrifice for sin and then ascended in victory to the Father; achieve the eternal perfection of those whom you are sanctifying.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

After your passion, you appeared to your disciples, and they knew you to be alive: strengthen our belief that you are with us today.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

On this day you promised the Holy Spirit to the apostles, for the spreading of your gospel to the ends of the earth; strengthen us by the power of the Spirit in bearing witness before the world.– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

Ant. This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. Alleluia.

O God, you are my God, for you I long; for you my soul is thirsting. I long for you like a dry, weary land without water.

For your love is better than life, my lips will speak your praise. So I will bless you all my life, in your name I will lift up my hands.

Ant. This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. Alleluia.

Scripture readingA reading from Saint Paul’s letter to the Ephesians

You are no longer foreign visitors: you are citizens like all the saints, and part of God’s household. You are part of a building that has the apostles and prophets for its foundations, and Christ Jesus himself for its main cornerstone. As every structure is aligned on him, all grow into one holy temple in the Lord; and you too, in him, are being built into a house where God lives, in the Spirit.

Intercessions

Praise to you Lord God, for the gift of Christ’s body and blood, handed on by the apostles, to give us strength and life;– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

For the table of your word, served by the apostles, to bring us light and joy;– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

For your holy Church, built on the apostles, to make us all one body;– Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come.Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive those who trespass against us,and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.Amen

Concluding prayerLord God, you chose Saint Matthias by lot to complete the number of the twelve apostles. By his prayer, include us among your chosen ones, since we rejoice to see that the lot marked out for us is your love.Amen.
