Biography Elizabeth Kearney is an artist, musician and educator from Liverpool. Drawing has always been a passion and from a young age she has sought opportunities to pursue her dreams of a creative life. On her graduation from Liverpool John Moores University, she was awarded the Stuart Sutcliffe Fellowship and embarked on a series of commissions, residencies and research projects on creativity in education, including a strategy for introducing philosophy to children called ‘The Philosopher’s Garden’. A founding member of SPLICE Artist Network, Elizabeth collaborated with Liverpool galleries and artist-led initiatives such as FACT, Bluecoat, Static Gallery and Liverpool Biennial to develop seminars, reading groups and exhibitions. Since the birth of her second child, Elizabeth has taken on the role of Head of Art at a local secondary school where she has empowered pupils to set up the Mezza9 Gallery, which exhibits the work of pupils, teachers and outside artists. Together with her son, Tom Woollam, she has a design company, Red Bear, and has recently worked with Gary Edward Jones to create the artwork for his charity single, Friends of Mine. Elizabeth is one half of the folk-infused acoustic rock duo, Nighthowl. Writing, recording and performing regularly with Phil Poole, they also host the Corn market Acoustic Club in Liverpool. A multi-instrumentalist, Elizabeth plays guitar, piano, violin, cajon and also sings. They are currently in the process of recording their first album. For Elizabeth, creativity can be found anywhere and everywhere, and especially when teaching, song writing, cooking, gardening and spending time with her children. Drawing provides time and space to think, to slow down, to tease out new thoughts and ideas and express what is going on in her busy life.

Biography Dave has spent half his life living between England and America. This life experience has given him a huge insight into the different ways both countries appreciate and express the arts. In his career he has worked as a technical illustrator. He has also promoted live music in North West England.

More recently, Dave has developed a passion for photography, mainly capturing live bands and singers; he has the ability to capture a moment with his shots. He has also taken photographs of his travels in America, from the bright lights of Las Vegas, to the rugged beauty of Utah. Dave uses digital photography and technology to produce photographs which are breathtaking and thought provoking. The future is bright for Dave Monahan – watch this space!

Biography Katy Konrad is from Somerset, and has spent the last thirteen years living in the North West. Katy has been writing since childhood. Her first published poem was ‘Fragments’ in In The Red in 2003, which is in The Poetry Library in London. Since 2009 she has had over 10 further poems published. Katy featured as an emerging poet and 3 poems published in Social-i, and had poems in exhibitions at The Grosvenor Museum. A runner up in Dead Good Poets Liverpool’s Most Romantic Poet slam in 2010, she appeared on Vintage Radio in 2011. She performs in the North and South West and is a regular at Zest, Alexanders Chester. She has read at Liver Bards at The Ship and Mitre in Liverpool in 2012 and 2013. Katy performed at the Callendar Poetry Festival in Scotland in 2012. Katy has taken part in NapoWriMo in 2012 and 2013, and is currently working on her first collection. Abersoch It was May, the ascent of summer When, heads heavy and mouths furry from a night of Jack Daniels flavoured debauchery We took the A55 coast road to North Wales A journey taking longer than I’d thought. Your strong fingers stroking the nape of my neck giving me shivers. Later, your car stereo blasting out Kings of Leon next to the row of tents We drank champagne from paper cups Sitting on fold up camping chairs, Our night of partying sent us into slumber before dusk. Awaking at 5am, freezing, the sound of waves crashing filling our senses. The night before, we’d pocketed sea shells from the tide’s edge Looking at them now with my eyes closed I can still hear the sound of the sea

Anti-ageing ‘Mirror mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all? Not me’ she sighed Must stop time in its track Turn the clock back Tock tick First the potions Contouring facial lift lotions Crème de la Mer. Then, more drastic The pain was horrific Tear trough rejuvenation Glycolic peels ‘Ageing is a disease’; she heals Laser lipolysis, i-Lipo Her skin glowed The compliments flowed Though her soul was ebbing away. Thighs sculpted Confidence catapulted Her eyes shone with youth’s elixir Her face looked younger by the day The perfect body was fading away But still people told her ‘you’ve never looked better.’ Yet she continued Relentless, bone and sinew Retinoids, peptides; never enough. She wanted a face as smooth as a baby’s She was a baby, only maybe This time she’d gone too far…

In decades and eons through history Everybody had one At first invisible But slowly- For some a slow burn Others an immediate blot on their landscape- each particle of poison seeped into my skin until I was covered in it It was everywhere, Under my small fingernails Beneath the surface of my epidermis And behind my eyes Eventually I looked in the mirror Each day and although I couldn’t see it I found myself disgusting I couldn’t understand it didn’t know what was draining the lust for life from me each day just knew something was splintering my genetic make up from the core Until I was away from you I could never be free Only then did I begin to heal You were my Kryptonite.

Tom is a self-taught contemporary artist working in his own studio "The Artist Rest" in the small Cheshire village of on the border of England and Wales in a 18th century cottage, close to the Roman City of Chester. Tom has worked in the arts for more than 3 decades. He works in mixed mediums.

These Words are for the children They choose not to be in the present day Words that remind me of the love we shared The Closeness, in my minds eye won’t go away

We did walk, talk many a hill away Four children, one day I told them tales on the Bickerton Hills They would watch the Piggies play

Four, see the memories of yesterday Four, see the memories fade away Four, think of the future and what games it can play

The children would run ahead Ready to surprise again The sun would smile down on all of them Watching them play a gain

There faces I will never forget until this very day They are loved and influenced by many, who only know their ways… Four children that bring happiness A very special feeling that stays

Four, see the memories of yesterday Four, see the memories fade away Four , think of the future and what games it can play

I and only I know, from birth the magic in their eyes, My spirit will remain in them and there children I think of my children as adults and respect there ways I think of their children and what they have to say? Thoughts of the future fill my every living day
