Skill level Confident Beginner Experience of sewing a skirt zipper and adding a waistband would be
useful.
Please read through all of these instructions before
starting your project and cutting your fabric.
To print your PDF pattern
Your pattern and instructions come as one file to make printing easy.
Please make sure you are using the latest version of Adobe for best results.
You can download the latest version here if you need to.
Open the PDF file in Adobe Reader. Select File Print and the print
dialogue box opens. Under Page Sizing and Handling, select SIZE, then
select ACTUAL SIZE.
You can print the lot including the pattern and instructions, or if you
want, just print the pattern pieces at the end of these instructions.
On the top edge of PAGE 1 is a test square. This box should measure 2
inches square. If yours is wildly different you will need to check your printer
options to make sure the pages are not being resized.
There are 2 pattern pieces to join together for the waistband, and the
pocket comes on a separate sheet. Check under Additional Pieces to Cut
for sizing for your skirt front and back. These are rectangles and can be
measured right onto your fabric.

Fabric requirements and suggestions
Lightweight dress fabrics with a soft feel such as cotton, lawn, silk and silk
blends, challis, rayon.
For an average knee length skirt, assuming fabric 60 inches wide, all sizes
will need 1 yard of fabric. For fabric 54 inches wide, sizes H and I will need
twice the length of the finished skirt plus seam allowances.
More will be needed if there is a large scale pattern to be matched. You
can find out exactly how much more is needed for pattern matching
through this article How Much Extra Fabric for Pattern Matching?
What size do I need?
Please use this table as a guide only as although our body measurements
may be similar, different body shapes may require fitting differently.
Fabrics with different thickness, drape and stretch will also affect the
finished result and fit on this skirt, so use this table as a guide only.
Compare the flat pattern measurements to your own body measurements.

NOTE pick your waistband size to fit your waist measurement above,
and use the table for the hip size to cut your skirt panels.
Always test the fit using the paper pattern pieces, or an
inexpensive test fabric before cutting your expensive fabric for this skirt. If
in doubt test the larger size and adjust for fitting at the seams
during construction.
This skirt pattern is designed to sit on the low waist, below the natural waist
and includes 10% ease in the hips for a cool and casual fit.
Directions Seam allowances 0.5 inches unless otherwise stated.
Abbreviations used RST right sides together.
Neaten your seams serge/overlock your seams, or finish with your
favourite method. Trim, neaten and finish seams as you go.
Additional pieces to cut
The length of your fabric should be decided by you according to how long
you want your skirt to be. I cut mine 19 inches which included inch top
and bottom for my seam allowances and a finished skirt 18 inches long
below the waistband. Make yours longer or shorter to suit your height and
style.
Skirt front - For the skirt front, cut 1 piece of fabric according to the
following chart.
Skirt Back cut 2 pieces according to the following chart. The length will
be the same as the skirt front.
