Background and Purpose

Doubtlessly, sustainable growth and development of LIXIL needs the energy and

Case Example of Business Contribution by Active Women

As an Africa Eco Sanitation staff member in charge of Kenya, she shuttles between Kenya and Japan and works together with JICA and other external organizations to promote the spread of sanitary equipment.In terms of business, this is our first steps in exploring this market with 2.3 billion people.

Global Contributions

The target is “to improve the sanitary

environment of 100 million people” by 2020.

To solve global sanitary issues, she plays a major

role in the Toilets for All Project (*) designed to

promote diffusion of SATO, a simple type of toilet for

developing countries, toward solving global sanitary

issues.

(*) A project in which one SATO system is donated for use in Asia or Africa

for every purchase of an integrated type Shower Toilet

A skill enhancement training workshop for women masons was conducted by SATO.

This training workshop was curated to empower women masons to earn better and respectable earnings for

their family.

Under Swacch Bharat Mission, the Indian government is promoting the

adoption of Twin-Pit Pour-Flush (TPPF) latrine systems.

LIXIL designed the SATO V-Trap Connection System specifically for the Indian

market to address the issue of frequent clogging and to eliminate the need for

masonry work to switch the flow of human waste between pits easily.

o SATO collaborates with TATA Trusts – also a member of TBC, for addressing

the sanitation challenge

o SATO plans to build a Demo toilet in Pune Municipal Corporation to

demonstrate SATO technology. Demo toilet location finalization underway

with PMC team

Pune Smart Sanitation City Project with Toilet Board Coalition

The Toilet Board Coalition (TBC) and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), India have

collaborated towards making the metropolis the world’s first smart sanitation city.

Initiated in 2014 and formalized in 2015 as a business-led partnership and

platform, the TBC has the ambition to address the global sanitation crisis by

accelerating the Sanitation Economy. LIXIL’s association with TBC includes a

seat in the Global TBC SteerCo and India Chapter SteerCo
