On 23rd of May, our teachers conducted the Beezy Weekend workshop in collaboration with our PSG and the Singapore Science Centre at the EcoLab in Singapore Science Centre. We had an overwhelming response of participants for the fun-packed activities lined up for them.

In this workshop, the participants were introduced to the life cycle of a bee, their amazing world and communication through their “Waggle Dance”, how they play an important role in our world, honey tasting and the benefits of honey.

It was a good bonding session for both parent and child as they attempt the activities together and learn together.

Introduction of A Beezy Weekend by the facilitator from The Singapore Science Centre.

An introduction to bees by Ms Vivian Teh, a teacher from CHIJ OLQP.

Children and their parents observing the bee through a microscope.

Have you ever wondered what a bee would look like under the microscope? Can you spot the characteristics that makes it an insect?

Our PSG volunteer, Mr Carl Baptista sharing about honey during the honey tasting session.

More bonding time as parents and their children decorate a make-shift hive that can be used to house and transport bees.
