TRAINING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of training trainees should be able to: Describe the scope of the data that have to be recorded

during decommissioning. Describe the process of records selection. Explain the purpose and scope of records management

system. Explain the purpose and scope of QA programs.


SCOPE OF DOCUMENTATION AND INFORMATION

Documents and data for field changes; Design documentation with changes; Results from surveys; Reports on nuclear material status; Information for radioactive and other noxious waste and

substances; List of systems and equipment that are source of ionizing

radiation; Documentation and data for status and maintenance or for

decommissioning activities and dismantling of systems and equipment that are safety related.


TYPES OF INFORMATION

According to information source:• design, construction and modification data;• operating, shutdown and post-shutdown data.

According to groups at registering and archiving:• operation data;• decommissioning data;• data from completion of decommissioning.

Requirements for registration; Type of documents; Term of storage; Document developer; Individual responsible for storage of the document; Information bearer/medium; Storage place.

REQUIREMENTS FOR RECORD MEDIA

It should be capable of capturing and storing the required information;

It should have physical and chemical stability; It should be capable of being easily copied or transferred

to another medium, without loss of information; It should be retrievable over extended periods of time; It should be readable and clear; It should be resistant to alteration by unauthorized

individuals.

REQUIREMENTS FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEM

Quality assurance system needs to ensure:• planning, preparation and coordination of decommissioning

activities;• development of plans;• stipulation of term and conditions for beginning of

decommissioning works;• establishment of equipment identification and marking system;• regulated and controlled conditions of spent fuel management;• regulated and controlled conditions for radioactive waste

management.


REQUIREMENTS FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE SYSTEM - CONTINUED

In case decommissioning activities are performed by a permit holder, not by the operating organization:• identification and recording of nonconformities and other issues;• completeness of working documentation;• turning-over of responsibility to permit holder;• nuclear facility status identification at the moment of turning-over.
