    The FutureWill

    As you can see from the previous activity.

    When we use will to talk about the future we

    are usually talking about predictions iesomething unplanned. Because it is a

    prediction we often cannot be 100% certain

    that it will happen, so we use words like

    possibly, may etc. We can also use

    expressions like I hope, I think, etc.3

    Future Will

    The future will is formed like this:

    Eg. England will win the world cup

    A question in this tense is formed like this:

    Eg. Will England win the world cup?

    Subject + Will/will not

    Present Continuous with

    future meaningWe can also use the present continuous tense

    with a future meaning.

    FORM USE

    Are you doing anything tonight? We often use the present continuous

    to talk about things that people have

    arranged to do in the future

    The meaning is similar to be going tobut it is more definite.

    Yes, Im playing tennis.

    Are you taking a holiday this year?Yes, werespending two weeks in

    Europe.

    Present Simple tense with

    future meaningWe can also use the present simple tense with

    a future meaning:

    FORM USE

    What time does your plane go? We often use the present simple to

    talk about a programme or

    timetable in the future.

    It leavesat 10 o clock and we

    arrive in Rome at 7.30 a.am.
