动词 be (is, am, are) 的过去式

原形 am is are

过去式 was was were

下面让我们一起来看一下其具体用法：

1) 肯定句：主语＋ was / were＋表语＋其他。如：He was in a bank a moment ago.

刚才他在银行。They were at home last night ． 昨晚他们在家。

2)否定句：在 was / were后直接加 not即可变为否定句。即：主语＋ was / were ＋not ＋表语＋其他。如：Han Mei and Wei Hua were not in the

classroom just now.

韩梅和魏华刚才不在教室里。注意： was not ＝ wasn’t； were not ＝ weren’t。

3) 一般疑问句：把 was, were提到句首，句末用问号即可变为一般疑问句。即：Was / Were＋主语＋表语＋其他？对一般疑问句的回答，其肯定形式用“ Yes, 主语 (代词 ) ＋ was / were.”；

“其否定形式用 No,主语 (代词 ) ＋wasn’t / weren’t.”。

— Was she late this morning? 她今天早上迟到了吗？— Yes, she was. / No, she wasn’t. 是的，她迟到了。 / 不，她没迟到。— Were they at your party last night? 昨晚他们在你的聚会上吗？— Yes, they were. / No, they weren’t. 是的，他们在。 /不，他们不在。
