Appendix A - Specifications


SkyClad are pleased to announce that extensive fire tests have been carried out at the Warrington Fire Research Centre (UK) on samples of SkyClad 40mm polyisocyanurate (PIR High Fire Rate) sandwich panel. These sandwich panels are manufactured under ISO 9001:2000 in a state of the art manufacturing facility. It is also important to point out that SkyClad panels have six humps and five valleys unlike most of our competitors who have four humps and three valleys. These extra humps mean more insulation by approx. 20 % and more steel, approx. by 12 %. This leaves the SkyClad Panel probably one of the best panels in its class.

The following tests were performed:

1. BS 476 Part 7:1997 Fire Tests on Building Materials and Structures, Method for the Classification of the Surface Spread of Flame.2. BS 476 Part 6:1989 Method of Test for Fire Propagation for Products.3. BS 476 Part 3: 2004 Specification for Fire Tests on Building Materials and Structures- External Fire Exposure Roof Test.

In the above tests, SkyClad 40mm PIR sandwich panel achieved the following result:

In addition to the above tests, the Dow Chemical Company also undertook Physical Property Testing on samples of polyisocyanurate (PIR) as used by SkyClad in the manufacture of their sandwich panels.

Magnesium Silicate Board

Boards should always be lifted by 2 people and not dragged across each other to prevent unnecessary scratching or damage

Any moisture allowed to infiltrate between the sheets will cause permanent surface staining. They should be protected from the weather and other trades on site at all times

Boards should be carried on edge and extra precaution should be taken to protect the visible front edge and corners

All the requirements of the Health & Safety at work act should be met as well as any general or specific regulations applying to the area where the boards are being installed. Due to the creation of dust and debris when using power tools for cutting / shaping etc., appropriate dust extraction systems should be put in place to control these levels. Long term exposure to dust can be harmful to health. The use of protective equipment is advised at all times. i.e. gloves / goggles.

RESISTANT boards should be stored flat, raised from the ground on a pallet, in dry conditions indoors and be under cover. Boards should not be leant upright for long periods of time

All nuts, bolts, screws and washers used in the building of all our housing units have all been tested and certified to British standard and are ISO certified. All specifications are to standard – Tested assembly dimensions, Fire resistance performance in accordance with British standard and brief details of specimen construction. An assessment report has been carried out on all ancillaries.
