DOSCH DESIGN TUTORIAL

Creating a Modern Business Card LayoutA step-by-step tutorial

This tutorial will show the user of Dosch Graphicsproducts (e.g. Abstract Vol. 1) how to use this newDosch Design product line together with Photoshopin order to quickly create business cards which willcommunicate to each recipient the highprofessionalism and commitment to quality

of the person represented by the card.

Step 1

Background Creation

In order to create thebackground for a businesscard using Dosch Graphics:Abstract Vol. 1 we start withan empty image with e.g.3 3/4 x 2 1/4 dimension(3.5 x 2 after cutting).

Then we open the image file

calledAbs121.jpgand drag& drop it into the newcomposition.Adjust the size as needed.

Modify Image

The image is of course toointense, too contoured

which makes a text placedover it hard to read.So we have to give the imagea smoother appearance.

First we can apply a blurfilter. In Photoshop choosefilter/blur/gaussian blurandenter a value of 7. We alsowant a monochromaticappearance - so by choosingimage/adjustments/hue/saturationand using the

function colorize, plus byplaying with the hue slider,we will make the image blue.

Step 2

Special effect

For a more originalcomposition select randomly5 to 7 horizontal stripes ofdifferent sizes, then copythem to a new layer (copy/paste). Click on the layer/layer style properties thenselect drop shadow.Also move the layer down or

up a small distance. Repeatthis operation two or threetimes starting each time fromthe base layer.The result will be a trulyunique and more effectivedesign.

Step 3

Adding a logo

Now we have to add the logoof the company. To have anice effect on the softwaretext add a text shadow byusing the command layer/layer style/drop shadowandadd a text glow by using thecommand layer/layer style/outer glow. This will makefor a unique look of the text.

Finally add the text content.You can use the same texteffect as used in software,just by copying the layer stylefor the other layer.
