    FINISHED SIZE: 7" long without ribbon.

    MATERIALS: 80 yds. size 30 crochet

    cotton thread

    12" of 38 ribbon No. 10 steel hook

    BASIC STITCHES: Ch, sl st, sc.

    SPECIAL STITCHES: For joining, drop lp from hook, insert hook in adjacent ch-3 sp, pull dropped lp through.

    For joining bar, 7 sc in ch-8 sp between Motifs, work joining, 7 sc in same ch-8 sp.

    BOOKMARK First Section First Motif: Ch 15, sl st in first ch

    to form ring, (7 sc in ring, ch 3) 3 times (second ch-3 made is outer ch-3), 7 sc in ring, join with sl st in first sc. Do not fasten off. (3 ch-3 sps made)

    Next Motif: Ch 23, sl st in 15th ch from hook to form ring leaving 8 chs unworked, 7 sc in ring, work joining in last ch-3 on last Motif made (see Special Stitches), (7 sc in ring, ch 3) 2 times, 7 sc in ring, join with sl st in first sc. Do not fasten off..

    Repeat Next Motif eight more times for a total of ten Motifs.

    Turn Section so that outer ch-3 is toward you; for bar, (7 sc, ch 3counts as center ch-3, 7 sc)

    Rotate Motif so that ch-3 sps are centered behind Motifs on Sections (see Third Section Illustration).

    Repeat next Motif seven more times for a total of nine Motifs

    For last Motif, ch 20, insert one end of ch-20 under last Motifs of First and Second Sections and over joining bars of same Sections at same times (see Third Section Illustration), sl st in first ch of ch-20 to form ring, ch 1, (10 sc, ch 3, 20 sc, ch 3, 10 sc) in ring. Fasten off.

    Rotate Motif so ch-3 sps are centered behind Motifs on Sections (see Third Section Illustration).

    Edging Rnd 1: Working in front of First

    and Second Sections and around outer edge of Third Section, join with sl st in first ch3 sp of first Motif on Third Section (see red arrow on Third Section Illustration), (ch 8, sl st in next ch-3 sp of next Motif on Third Section) 9 times, ch 16; working on opposite side, sl st in next ch-3 sp of same Motif on Third Section, (ch 8, sl st in next ch-3 sp of next Motif on Third Section) 9 times, ch 16, join with sl st in first sl st.

    Rnd 2: Ch 1, (8 sc, ch 3, 8 sc) in each of first 9 ch-8 sps, *(8 sc, ch 3, 16 sc, ch 3, 8 sc) in next ch-16 sp*, (8 sc, ch 3, 8 sc) in each of next 9 ch-8 sps; repeat between **, join. Fasten off.

    Rnd 3: Working alternately in ch-3 sps around outer edge of First and Second Sections and in ch3 sps of last rnd, join with sl st in outer ch-3 sp of First Motif on First Section (see green arrow on Third Section Illustration), *(ch 5, sl st in next ch-3 sp of

    last rnd, ch 5, sl st in outer ch-3 sp of next Motif on same Section) 9 times, ch 8, sl st in next ch-3 sp of last rnd, ch 10, sl st in next ch-3 sp, ch 8*, sl st in outer ch-3 sp of next Motif on next Section; repeat between ** around, join with sl st in first sl st.

    Rnd 4: Ch 1, (5 sc, ch 4, 5 sc) in each of first 18 ch-5 sps, *(8 sc, ch 4, 8 sc) in next ch-8 sp, (10 sc, ch 4, 10 sc) in next ch-10 sp, (8 sc, ch 4, 8 sc) in next ch8 sp*, (5 sc, ch 4, 5 sc) in each of next 18 ch-5 sps; repeat between **, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

    Weave ribbon through space between wrong side of Motifs on Third Section and right side of joining bars (see photo).

    Second Section Work First Motif; work Second

    Motif nine more times for a total of ten Motifs.

    Turn Section Section so that outer ch-3 is toward you, work joining bar (see Special Stitches) in first ch-8 sp between Motifs see red line on First and Second Joining Illustration work joining bar across, join with sl st in first st or joining sl st on first Motif of this Section. Fasten off.

    Third Section For First Motif, ch 20, insert one

    end of ch-20 under First Motifs of First and Second Sections and over joining bar of same Sections at same time (see blue lines on Third Section Illustration), sl st in first ch of ch-20 to form ring, ch 1, (10 sc, ch 3, 20 sc, ch 3, 10 sc) in ring. Fasten off.

    Rotate Motif so that ch-3 sps are centered behind Motifs on Sections (see Third Section Illustration).
