Its the force behind every emerging innovation, every forward-thinking idea. Its simply Elemental.

Our yearly event provides the best venue for mobile industry business opportunities and deal-making.Mobile World Congress includes an exhibition with more than 2,200 companies displaying cutting-edgetechnologies; a world-class conference featuring visionary keynotes and discussions; the industrys bestnetworking opportunities; and the annual Global Mobile Awards ceremony, which recognises innovativemobile solutions and initiatives around the world.

Mobile World Congress, or MWC, is an annual gathering for the mobile industry and related industries, organised by the GSMA, and held in Barcelona, Spain, the Mobile World Capital.

We work all year long to bring the following together to create the worlds best mobile event:

a glimpse of the future at 4YFN (page 13)

Our attendees tell us repeatedly that they can accomplish more in four days than they can in a monthsworth of meetings or in a years worth of travel, because everyone who is part of the industry is inBarcelona for MWC.

    4 MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2017ABOUT

Introducing the MWC 2017 Event ThemesWe all know that Mobile World Congress is big. There is a lot going on. How do you determine what ismost relevant to you? How do you plan what sessions to attend? How do you create a productive eventexperience? We want to help.

Introducing the 2017 Mobile World Congress Event Themes. This year, we have developed 7 core eventthemes to assist attendees with finding the content that is most relevant to your industries, yourinterests, and your future visions. You can use these themes to sort through the agenda and build yourMWC journey around targeted event content. Here are the 7 themes with a short description of each.

Content is king, they say. For many service providers acrossthe value chain how content is delivered, who by, and whoprofits from it will be critical business issues in the years tocome. Meanwhile, faster and more pervasive connectivity andnew device formats open up new forms of entertainment andinteraction, from VR headsets to Pokemon Go.

In the changing digital world how will users interact with theirdigital environment? What will they pay for? How are theychanging? Meanwhile, how can brands and services createricher services and offers tailored to the user and context?

While enterprises of all kinds have used telecoms anddigital services for years, the scale and complexity ofimpact across all industries and society is profound anddigital service providers play a central role in thisincreasingly diverse ecosystem. This will be addressed fromtwo angles; one looking more at the application oftechnology (including big data and Artificial Intelligence inparticular) and one looking at implementation and theevolution of business models, strategies and competitivemarketplaces as digitisation increases.

Mobile technology is evolving rapidly, leading to theemergence of new digital services and applications that aretransforming the way people live, work, play andcommunicate. Mobile is an important driver of economicdevelopment and wealth creation, but what policies areneeded to promote innovation, competition, privacy andsecurity for consumers in the digital age? How cangovernment and the mobile industry can workcollaboratively to drive key enablers such as access tofinancial services, digital identity, locally relevant content, digital literacy to expand digital inclusion for all?

The end goal of most network technology developments isto make using connectivity as ubiquitous, simple andessential as breathing air. That masks a massive andincreasing complexity. The astonishing thing is that, as anindustry, we are starting to get there, although manyhurdles expected and unexpected remain.

Mobile has the opportunity and arguably the obligation to play a massive part in accomplishing the UNs SustainableDevelopment Goals. From an enterprise perspective, what opportunities exist to build sustainable businesses in line with theSustainable Development Goals?

This theme brings together topics on some of thefundamental enabling technologies that are going todetermine the nature of the future digital world: artificialintelligence, robotics, sensors, natural language interfaces, hardware evolution, quantum computing, data and energystorage, cloud, security, privacy, identity and more.
