Day One
It’s only day one, and we’re off to a great start at Mobile World Congress 2015. More than 85,000 people are here, bringing more than 100,000 mobile devices—it’s safe to say that we’re living in a mobile first world.
Connectivity is a major theme with 10 billion mobile-connected devices expected by 2020. Network operators discussed the possibilities of connecting those underserved by internet access. Speakers insisted that IoT technology still has a long way to go, but we can start preparing for a connected lifestyle today. Personalization and mobile identity remain a big deal—thieves get more sophisticated, while verification often lags behind. News from the event included three new IBM MobileFirst for iOS mobile apps for the Banking and Financial Services, Airline, and Retail industries, which are immediately available for business customization and deployment. What else have we seen at Mobile World Congress?
